I'm pissed to see someone edit all their old comments with a completely unrelated ad. I'm sure the answer to this question was very good given how many votes it has. Now I know what NOT to buy or install.

...even though it’s a big download, it doesn’t seem to use any more space once it’s installed.
These screenshots are from my M1 MacBook Pro taken right before downloading/installing 27.2 and after. macOS storage itself is actually ~1 GB less.
The interesting thing here is the ~11 GB drop in my System Data. It seems like a win, but it’s actually cosmetic. For whatever reason, macOS 27.0.1 was counting purgeable storage as System Data (disk utility said I had 11.3 GB). This is something I don’t remember seeing in Tahoe.
When I installed 27.2 GB, my purgeable storage actually went up (to 31.3 GB) but doesn’t seem to count as System Data any more.

I'm trying to find ways to save money and after this weird update from microsoft (it wouldn't let me login to use word, excel, etc. with the right credentials, then a couple days later I tried and it worked)... This made me consider why I'm paying >$100/year to a service that I don't use often enough. Am curious if other people have ditched this and if you used any other app (e.g text edit, etc.) or even google drive that was worthwhile. Also if you made the switch, were you still able to access your previous documents and edit them on drive for example? Or how did you transition any docs if you had to?

Mission control finally works properly again in macOS 27.2! The annoying bugs and glitches seem to be gone. About time!

October 26, 2026 security release addressed 329 unique security vulnerabilities across its operating systems, resulting in a staggering 1,265 combined CVE listings due to cross-platform bugs. The latest update, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, patches a substantial portion of these flaws alongside sister updates like iOS 27.2. [1, 2, 3, 4]
I checked all my money still there..
In the age of AI nothing is real.

I got an M4 Max just over a year ago and I keep it mostly on power and its on 80% charge but my battery health seems like its gone down quick. Is this normal for this Mac?

Hi everyone,
I’m planning on replacing my work iMac with the new M6 iMac but my setup is clean and organized, and I don’t want to spend days rebuilding it.
For anyone who’s done a Mac-to-Mac or Time Machine migration :
It’s my main work machine, so I’ll keep the old iMac for a few days as a safety net.
Thanks !

Updated Magic Keyboard with US layout and glyphs not available in Europe
Apple has updated the Magic Keyboard with the US layout to use glyphs instead of text on buttons such as return, tab, etc. However, this keyboard is not available in Europe. The official Apple Online Store in all EU countries I’ve checked so far, and major retailers, only list the previous version.
Is there any information for when this updated keyboard will be available for purchase in the EU?
For reference:
\- old model number MXCL3LL/A
\- new model number MJLX4LL/A
Thank you.

I'm trying to clean up my Mac and get rid of unnecessary background apps and extensions as people here often recommend, but I need to know what's the easiest way to remove all that? Any tips on what I should avoid disabling? I'm not a very advanced Mac user, so this is the only place I can ask. Thanks!

In my collection of Macs I have two G3 Pismo PowerBooks, a Titanium G4 PowerBook, a 15-in G4 PowerBook, a 12-in G4 PowerBook, a 2008 15-in MacBook Pro, All of these are working machines. I also have a couple of more modern ones.
They are a 2024 15-in M3 MacBook Air with 512 GB storage and 16 GB memory plus a base model MacBook Neo.

Ive been having spontaneous trackpad issues with my 2023 macbook pro over the past two weeks. 80% of the time, the trackpad is fine but sometimes it'll randomly freeze up. when this happens, the cursor doesn't move and the trackpad is stiff when pressing down. I usually restart it when it happens but even that doesn't always solve the issue. it just randomly "fixes" itself. ive gone to the apple store, theyve run diagnostics but nothing has been flagged (although the trackpad was working fine when diagnostics were being run). im not sure if this is a hardware or software issue, but I just wanted to put this out there in case someone has experienced a similar issue and has been able to resolve it.
edit: I do want to mention that it has also been randomly shutting off when the battery is between 20-30% without warning. not sure if that could be related, but apple didn't give me any feedback on it since nothing came up on the diagnostic.
