There are no magicians here.
Some questions will not be answered or replied to. As an example: "my game crashes" or "my download speed is slow" is not something you should even really expect an answer to. Troubleshooting and finding the solution to these issues requires a lot more information than simply stating "game doesn't launch", such as detailed information on when the issue started and how you perceive it, screenshots of any errors or the problem itself, crash logs, system specs, etc.
Consider using other things like the Steam Community Forums, an internet search engine, or a different support forum like /r/SteamSupport if no one here can offer any help. Additionally, every game on Steam has its own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.

Game & Hardware Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread.
Welcome to the Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread!
This monthly mega-thread is meant to contain advice, questions, suggestions & generic discussion on what to play or buy in terms of Games & Hardware.
Do you not know what to play? Want a Steam Deck or Steam Machine but unsure which model is best for you? Did you find a niche game that everyone should try? Wondering what GPU you should upgrade to or unsure about the specs of a computer? Do you want to share your unique experiences and learning curves with a piece of hardware? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you.
Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with generic & useless questions such as "What should I play?" or "What should I buy?", please be in-depth in what types of games/hardware you are looking for and why, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X is good".
There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, also simply commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value. The same goes for hardware: Saying you're thinking about buying X or you think Y is good with no other information, context as to why, your unique experiences, etc. offers no actual value or information to base a reply on.
Feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games and hardware, whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, experiences you have with Steam hardware, or your review of a piece of Steam hardware. Generic discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, specs is allowed as well. This is not meant to be a restrictive thread within the designated topics that this thread is for, however it is not a support thread nor is it the place to promote any blogs or curator pages or anything else, subreddit rules still apply.

PSA Dear players, if you want to contact a dev on Discord, please preface the message by mentioning you do not want to sell anything.
This is not the gamer's fault of course, but as a dev I constantly receive messages on discord that start like: "Hey I found your game and really love the concept. Here are two things I like that I (or genAI) probably reworded from the page description. What are you currently working on?"
Then it's a string along for two or three messages and finally they casually mention that could help with marketing or art or whatever. It's the string along that bothers me, because I wasted time to respond.
So most of the time I stopped responding or immediately have to mention that I'm not buying anything. However, I would hate to lose out on talking to an actual fan of the game because of this.
And if my 500 wishlist game receives so many of these messages, I cannot imagine what an actually popular game gets.

Discussion While Youtube is pushing to remove the Dislike button, Steam lets you see a detailed graph of reviews.
I feel like this feature is extremely underrated. It really lets you track exactly how users responded to the game at launch and at different events (patches, upgrades). Its like the only actual democratic place where people can share exactly how they feel about entertainment, instead of being forced to like it.

Question Can minors sign up as developers on Steam?
I'm Japanese and not very good at English, so this was translated using a website. I'm sorry if it's hard to read.
I just turned 16 and have been making games using Godot.
I’m getting pretty close to finishing one, so I thought I’d release it on Steam soon. But it seems I need to register as a developer to do that.
While it’s apparently not against the rules for minors to do so, I haven’t seen many reports online of people actually being able to register, and I’ve never seen any Japanese people do it, so I’m wondering if it might be illegal in Japan.
My parents are willing to help if I ask, but I’d rather get it done now if possible—it’ll be a hassle to register on my own later and transfer the game over.
There’s a lot I don’t know about this, so I’d really appreciate some advice!
Thanks for reading this far.

Discussion I want to appreciate the absolute freedom of the Steam Deck
I was more of a PC guy, cause at the time, i just liked the power and how much i could do on the PC. Like playing a game on one screen and having a guide or Spotify on the second screen
After i got Steam Deck, i mostly played games that are platform games like Rivals of Aether or Gravity Circuit.
But then i just started messing around with the Steam Deck and good god. The stuff you can do is nuts, especially when you compare it to other handhelds like Switch.
It may not be a big thing, but i really appreciate the freedom what we can do with the Stean Deck, like changing covers of games (first pic), changing boot up intros (second pic), modding games like on PC and such.
It's just so good i love it

Question Game release
Quick question? How can you prevent your game from being stolen/copied? Like when you announce it or release a demo of your game as an indie developer or big studio?
(For example the needle in haystack game that has been copied on steam and copied on roblox)

Does anyone know how to disable bug picture mode screensavers? Ive gone through all source files and the customization section and there is no option for me to conpletely disable steam screensavers. I play on a rog ally x so when the screensaver turns on it stops my downloads as its best to not have background downloading on for performance and its just like bro why the fuck is this feature here🤦 i guess if anyone has any suggestions im open to them. Discussion What are y'all buying in the Scream fest?
I love these events from steam man, I also love horror/terror. So this event is AWESOME for me, but I'm curious about what other people are going to buy/give a try in this fest.
For me, I'm thinking about Signalis and Monthwashing, I've heard a lot of good things about those two, so I'm excited to try them!
Edit: I’m sorry guys, I was so excited to the event that I forgot about THE BACKLOG lol

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
I guess I won't be using it for a long time, till I buy the new game, that is.

Question I need help finding the origin of my Steam avatar, White wolf/fox in a black suit

It has been a while I am trying to find the origin of my steam avatar profile picture, and yet I have no clue of where it belongs. The only info I remember of it was it being recommended as a default steam profile picture a long while ago.
I remember there was other profile pictures with the same style (probably from the same game). I did not have luck on reverse search it on Google.
The only similar image i have found of it was a korean post about a wolf called "Clyde".

"Clyde lives on the Rogue Road, but he is actually the youngest son of a Double Downtown Mafia family. He is intelligent but physically weak, so he does not participate in family events except for major occasions. He commutes to a respectable job located in Rich Gold City. After accidentally meeting and becoming friends with Freda and Scavi at a party, he finds himself in a subtle love triangle."
The fact that both are nearly identical suggests that I’m getting somewhere, but I’m still far from a lead or an answer.
I did a similar post about 2 years ago that did not have any comments, so i hope this time i get a clue or answer.

Discussion It seems like dlc is possibly exempt from the Australian age verification if you own the base game.
My debit card does not work with verification, so while I can't buy 18+ games, I have had no problems accessing this dlc for a month. I haven't found any other games that let me see the store page nor can I see this on another account which makes me think its only possible if you own the base game.

Question Question about bundle discounts
So a lot of horror games have discounts and I wanted to pick up silent hill f and fatal frame, both of them are on discount but they have a developer bundle for both games together but that one is more expensive than if I were to buy the 2 games separately...
Does this still need to be adjusted cause the sale is recent or is it there a rule or something with steam discounts where bundles aren't affected? Obviously I can just buy the 2 separately and its still a good price but you'd think the bundle would be on discount to be even cheaper
