I feel like this feature is extremely underrated. It really lets you track exactly how users responded to the game at launch and at different events (patches, upgrades). Its like the only actual democratic place where people can share exactly how they feel about entertainment, instead of being forced to like it.

I think my professor used AI to generate the list 😭

The instructions were:

Billionaire Research Project

You will research a billionaire from this list and write a 3-page paper. Essay formatting and content requirements are detailed on Canvas under the assignment with the title ā€œBillionaire research projectā€. The rubric is in the same place.

Please write your name next to the person you chose.

Discussion Complaints about AI aside, what were peoples wishlists/standouts from NextFest?

Despite the overwhelming amount of garbage, I still managed to find quite a few little indies to keep tabs on and see how they go post-release. These were some of mine

Dreadmoor

Ravenous Greed

VAL'TY -

Birds of Impalatism

Kopernicus: Incremental Suffering

Baby Lemonade

TETRIC

JOHN GLEEP

Clown Around

Death of the Brain

Heroll: IF

Share what stood out for you

EDIT: There's no obligation for you to say you didn't find any games in a thread asking what games people found. If you didn't actually engage with NextFest, then this discussion isn't for you

Question What's a game you bought for one reason and ended up loving for a completely different one?

Sometimes you buy a game because of the combat, the graphics, or just because it was on sale, and then some completely different part of it ends up keeping you hooked.

What's a game that surprised you like that?

Discussion It seems like dlc is possibly exempt from the Australian age verification if you own the base game.

My debit card does not work with verification, so while I can't buy 18+ games, I have had no problems accessing this dlc for a month. I haven't found any other games that let me see the store page nor can I see this on another account which makes me think its only possible if you own the base game.

Question I need help finding the origin of my Steam avatar, White wolf/fox in a black suit

It has been a while I am trying to find the origin of my steam avatar profile picture, and yet I have no clue of where it belongs. The only info I remember of it was it being recommended as a default steam profile picture a long while ago.

I remember there was other profile pictures with the same style (probably from the same game). I did not have luck on reverse search it on Google.

The only similar image i have found of it was a korean post about a wolf called "Clyde".

"Clyde lives on the Rogue Road, but he is actually the youngest son of a Double Downtown Mafia family. He is intelligent but physically weak, so he does not participate in family events except for major occasions. He commutes to a respectable job located in Rich Gold City. After accidentally meeting and becoming friends with Freda and Scavi at a party, he finds himself in a subtle love triangle."

The fact that both are nearly identical suggests that I’m getting somewhere, but I’m still far from a lead or an answer.

I did a similar post about 2 years ago that did not have any comments, so i hope this time i get a clue or answer.

Error / Bug Achievement Query

Few months ago, on my account I noticed some achievements unlocked despite me not remember unlocking it. I find it out while playing, and thought I finally unlocked a achievement that I thought I never unlocked, I first had a relief and joy, but then I didn't see any pop ups from Steam, then noticed it says already unlocked. I was first shocked how I missed this, but later on I noticed a lot of achievements, suspiciously unlocked in the same day and time.

I shared with my friends, they asked me if I used SAM at the time, while at it I also learned what SAM is but no, no SAM was used. I wanted to create a support ticket to Steam highlighting these achievements to be reset as I want to "achieve" those achievements.

But my friends also told me that while raising a ticket, Steam might ban my account while trying to fix this since they may think I used SAM and it against TOS or something, and told me to just leave it. To be honest, I don't want that to happen as well, since this is my one and only account which is 11 years old.

People may say "its just a timestamp who cares, you know when you unlocked the achievement" but for me no, my achievement are personal and I care.

Details:

  1. I checked log ins if I got a suspicious log in, no. My account is currently secure.
  2. I never downloaded SAM, nor I don't have a brother or anyone playing on my account, download SAM on my computer
  3. Its on three separate games as I identified.
  4. The time stamp shows May 2025, I was working at the time, and I couldn't find any bugs or anything relevant in the internet to that time that may caused this.

Can I have some suggestions please? Thank you

Question Question regarding Packages and Bundles.

So I've been looking to buy Dying Light: The Beast in the "Dying Light Franchise" Bundle. Which includes DL The Beast, Dying Light Essentials Edition, and Dying Light 2 at a 60% discount.

But, it says I do not own Dying Light Essentials Edition. Which I assume is because I own all but one $3 item - the 10th Anniversary bundle (which is actually a DLC). So it is adding the $25.00 it costs to the Dying Light Franchise bundle, bringing the total to $34.00 due to the 60% discount. [ (60 + 25) * 0.4 ]

So my question is, would purchasing the one item I do not own in this package mark the package as owned? The math assuming that would happen equates to around $24.00 USD (60 * 0.4), which is good because I'm broke. And then on sale, assuming all of this is true, would make the game cost $12.00 for me.

Error / Bug Remote Play Together bug with Family Sharing

Wanted to play Overcooked 2 with my niece. She is in my Family Sharing.
When I invited her for "Remote Play Together", Family Sharing blocks and lock the game as I have already ran the game (host).

But removing her from Family Sharing Group, I am able to invite her and play together with Remote Play Together.

It seems like Family Sharing is intercepting and blocking the Remote Play Together access.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

Edit: All user in Family is an adult account. no parental issue.

Question Caching and Uploading Pre Compiled Shaders From People's Machines

Hi, I’ve always had this question floating around in my head: If the Steam app (launcher) has complete access to people’s game libraries, why doesn’t Steam provide an opt-in option to share precompiled shaders and upload them to a central server? Players could then download and install these shaders along with the game, rather than having to compile them on every machine for every driver version.

I mean, Steam already plans to show performance metrics for each game by comparing a player’s PC specs with those of a similar machine on which the game has already been tested.

Question help me understand steam local game transfer

i have extremely slow internet and 4 computers attached to it. so being able to update/install to 1 computer and have that device update the rest is super valuable.

so far it works sporadically, or doesn't. sometimes i reboot my computers in the right order and it starts working.

i have a mix of linux and windows machines. i'm not sure if that's relevant

i really just wanna know how i can reliably download software/updates to 1 computer and have everything update the other computers without smashing my internet

Error / Bug [BUG] In fullscreen there is a missing line of pixel on steam client thats shows the background

Thumbnail

As the title says if i go fullscreen on steam client, there is a missing line of pixel in the bottom.
I had to make a photo with my smartphone because screenshot didn't captured it (i suppose because it subtracts one pixel from every border of the screen to capture it).

I magnifyied the screen with the windows tool to show better the line on the bottom.
Its red/orange because my desktop wallpaper is it.
So basically a line of pixel is missing and it shows the background.

I tried with games, apps, folders, browsers and this doesn't happens.
It is there only with the steam client.

My monitor is an ASUS ROG Swift 360 Hz 1440p.

I asked one friend of mine and he said he had the same issue and had to re-enable the bottom W11 bar because the bottom line was distracting.

I almost forgot to mention that it is showed even when watching game trailers in fullscreen

i opened an image with a lot of lime green in it in the background and as you can see from the second image you can see the missing line of pixel that shows whatever there is in the background

Question browser plugin that lets you know if a game has a mobile version?

I had no idea so many of my favourites have a mobile version until today. Games such as Balatro, Dave the Diver, Slay The Spire, Cloverpit, etc. have all been ported to mobile on their respective platforms

It would be great if there was a browser plugin or steam client plugin that lets you know if a game has a mobile version, either from its steam store or directly from your library

Question Weird phishing attempt

Hey everyone!

Recently I’ve started getting lots of messages from accounts that are not my friends where they open with ā€œhey I need to ask something’s important!ā€ And I block them immediately, but there was one guy I gave a chance to see what’s so important
He sent me a photo of a transaction with my name on steam marketplace which was fake obviously, blocked and reported immediately because I got stressed seeing my name there

But it has been to weird I get on average two or three of those on a weekly basis. Do you encounter the same?

Question Minor Account issue

I was wondering if anyone has tried to change their account name, note that is specifically the account name and not the display name.

When I had made my account I used a really long account name that I often times can't remember, and whenever I need to re login I need to go looking through old emails that I have to find the papers for it even log in as I wrote their login stuff down whenever I was like 8...

Does steam sometimes make exceptions for account names being changed due to them being a little bit complex, or am I just stuck with this?
