Dr. Juan Carlos Zaldivar alive or dead??

he was my professor for DMS213 and he never met up for office hours. he only met through Zoom meetings, and in my opinion, his voice sounded very robotic and deep. maybe he just talked like that.

anyways, on wikipiedia, it says he died in 2017. i looked at the image and it's the same guy with the same name...

is this an error in wiki or is a robotic clone or impersonator teaching the class

Questions Accelerated Nursing Program (ABSN) Admissions — How Competitive Is It?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to finish my BS in Psychology next year and then apply to UB’s Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing program (ABSN).
I’m wondering how competitive the program is and how difficult it is to get accepted. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied, whether you got accepted or not!
If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to know:

- Your overall GPA and prerequisite GPA when you applied
- Whether you got accepted, rejected, or waitlisted
- Any other factors you think helped your application
- If you didn’t get into UB’s program, what other nursing programs did you apply to or end up attending?

I’m trying to get a realistic idea of my chances and explore backup options in case I don’t get accepted.
Thank you so much! I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences! :)

Nuclear Medicine Technology program

Hi! I'm a first-year student at a different college but I've been accepted as a transfer student to UB for Spring 2027. I originally applied as a chem major but I looked over more of their programs and I kind of fell in love with NMT. I know admissions are competitive and they only take fall applicants; I was wondering if it's even possible for me to switch programs next fall and try to complete some more of the prerequisites this spring.

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone familiar with the program or UB's transfer process. Thanks!

Questions Any reviews of the MS in Data Science?

I recently graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from UB. I somewhat enjoyed the program and did pretty well. I was able to find a job in industrial engineering, but I learned quickly this is not the area I want to be in (high starting pay but growth is low, and it’s not a job I like at all).

I’ve been doing some job searching and have seen a ton of data science/analyst jobs that don’t seem too bad, and (hopefully) would improve some QOL issues. For one there are options a lot closer to home, hybrid/remote options, and much higher top end pay. The work also seems more interesting with opportunities to grow, and it would get me out of a factory setting.

So, seeing all of these jobs and benefits has me considering the Engineering Sciences Masters with a data science focus. Has anyone here done this program? How is it, and how did it set you up for a job/life?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Alice Nightingale or Christopher Nebolcky for Dynamics EAS208?

• Upvotes

Nightingale seems to have good ratings for 207 but not 208, and Nebolcky has only 2 reviews that are for an entirely separate class. Does anyone that’s taken the class with either have a recommendation for which I should take 208 with?

Questions Which one is the hardest?

I am a freshman. I heard these core courses can be hard. I heard that 220 and 331 is difficult. Should I take courses in this order? I saw some students skip courses. Is that allowed?

Any UB alumni or current Jacobs Medical School students willing to share their stats?

Hi everyone! I'm currently a junior at UB, and Jacobs School of Medicine is my dream medical school!

I started my pre-med journey a year later than planned, so I'm still catching up on some prerequisite courses and will be taking more during my senior year.

I was wondering if anyone here has been accepted to Jacobs or is currently attending. I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience!

If you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to know:

  • Your GPA and science GPA
  • MCAT score
  • Clinical experience and hours
  • Research experience and hours
  • Volunteering and shadowing hours
  • Whether you took any gap years
  • Anything that helped your application stand out

I'd also love to know if you did your undergrad at UB and whether there were any specific opportunities or resources at UB that helped you prepare for medical school.

I'm trying to figure out what I should focus on during my remaining time in undergrad to become a competitive applicant.

Any advice would mean a lot! Thank you so much!! :)
