I feel like this wonderful strange boy fits infp.
Hi all, was wondering about your past or current experiences with ENFP peeps especially male ENFPs (since Im a guy), were they positive or negative? What do you like about them, and what do you dislike?
My ex was an INFP and I think I really did bad job understanding her way of thinking and her emotional dynamics. Hope to find some clues what could've been done differently and the reasoning behind our pretty turbulent 5 year relationship.

whenever i like someone and iām not comfortable/100% secure with them, i subconsciously act in a way i think is desirable to them instead of being true to myself
iām pretty sure this is a normal experience, ofc everyone wants to impress their crush!!
but itās god awful i hate it i hate feeling unstable with who i am and changing for someone against my own will to please them it makes me lose my sense of individuality
the same thing happens in group settings unfortunately but i also have social anxiety so that plays a part too
my fear of abandonment is killing me

I'm an INFP (18M). I'm currently studying automotive mechanics, and it's killing me. I just had a full-on panic attack today because of a teacher with a massive ego (god complex) and the insane pressure of exams and driving tests I know I'll fail.
The truth is, I never wanted to be a mechanic. I enrolled in this college just to get a diploma as fast as possible, so I could go to university later. I thought it would be easier than it actually is. I made a huge mistake.
What I actually wanted to study was IT (Computer Systems), because that's what I genuinely love - building PCs, taking them apart, fixing hardware, dealing with networks. I chose wrong, and now I'm paying for it with my mental health.
Also, I physically and logically can't bring myself to drive. I'm terrified of getting behind the wheel. I know it's not for me. But the worst part is that this college forces everyone to take driving lessons on their own premises as a mandatory part of the curriculum. It's not an external driving school; they make us do it right there, and there's no way to avoid it.
I realized I don't need to suffer. I need a college diploma to get into university, but I can get it somewhere else. So I've decided to transfer to a different college to study IT. But now I'm terrified.
Is it okay to just want an easy diploma? Is it okay to quit something that's destroying my mental health, even if people say it's "the right path"?
I feel so lost and exhausted.
upd: I'll try to reply to all the new comments, but for now I'm going to sleep and give my head a rest.

I've been trying to become far more productive over the past couple of years, but despite seeing improvements in so many other areas my inability to avoid freezing up when faced with difficult, overwhelming and/or time-sensitive tasks continues to haunt me.
The most recent example of this phenomenon happening is my recent college applications, where the moment I even attempt approaching the college website to start my body and brain both freeze up. The combination of not knowing where to begin or what to do causes my body to enter a state of frozen panic. My muscles tighten, my breathing becomes irregular, and it becomes borderline impossible to continue past this point. I usually end up retreating to some sort of pastime since I can't handle the pressure, but since the uncompleted task still lies in my mind, I'm stuck in a limbo of never feeling fully relaxed, too stressed to go do something else but too overwhelmed to actually face what's causing it in the first place.
This has gotten to the point where its causing issues in so many areas of my life. Any sort of problem involving paperwork like the situation above is where freezing is most common, but I've had it happen for experiences like cooking and learning to drive as well. I've tried my best to get help with tasks where I can and "just do it" where I can't (the only advice I've really been able to get from my family is "just do it," which is about as helpful as you expect) but the frequency and difficulty of it only gets worse as I try to be more independent.
Does anyone else here struggle from something like this? I'd really appreciate any advice if you have. I'm really tired of my brain's automatic responses controlling my life...

I'm mostly a boring person? like a very routine life though I have many variables that can have many effects, I study things like cybersec, compsci, even gamedev, sciences I am into are like mathematics, organic-chem, comp-bio, and several more. as to literature I love books about real world events, History, Exploration, Biography , or even rare unpopular books.
if you aren't in my age group please don't msg me =/ ...
we can have a friendship as real as it get's maybe have calls were we discuss what we study or a call were it's literally silent for hours? i usually keep a friend for years or indefinitely, it's like idk means a lot to me when i call someone a friend though it wont be easy.. sorry dont take it personally, im as stated hard to get along with especially at the start, but if consistency is your thing and you had anything in your life other than gaming movies music, we will get along just fine, btw i do make art! we can share our arts or even work on collabs!
moreover i know the shtty situation when you're a guy and you meet another interesting guy but then you get ghosted because turns out he was mostly just looking for some gf, im absolutely not like that!, even if you're a guy which is what im more comfortable with ironically, you're more than welcome, if you're here because you felt alone, i can talk but not everyday, though i will do what i could.
i used to be insecure about myself and this maybe the first time i admit it, my mtbi type is most likely esfj or something with an s and a j idk &_&.

I am in a rut (says my therapist)
Right now I live in the state I have always lived in, in a job I hate, and a city I hate. my imagination is so vivid and all I see is the life I want to be living. How do I get there? What can I change? I canāt tell if Iām suffering for some better reason or if there is actually something I can do to change my circumstances.
Has anyone here ever felt this way? What did you change? How did you change?

(venting / advice)
i have an intj friend that i have a crush on, and we both like each other but i know we wonāt stay together in the long run because heās going to a different university than me š (also heās premed so. heās probably not going to have the time for relationships in general)
idk iām scared that iāll get attached to him if i get into a relationship with him, knowing that he has to go eventually
he also mentioned something abt not wanting to get married and maybe staying a bachelor when heās older so i took that as a sign that thereās noo way weāre ending up together for the long-term
but heās still pursuing me ?? tbh i think heās just horny (half-joking)
what do u guys think about getting into relationships that you know wonāt last?
my ex-bf (entp)ās view on it was smth like it was about the experience and what it could teach you

iāll give you a few examples: today i saw someone saying that if you have good self esteem, you wonāt care about criticism or judgment
some common generic responses include saying someone wants validation, seeks attention, is needy, compares themselves to others, cares too muchā¦
i always say that shallow people come up with shallow explanations for everything and these are some of them
iām not writing this because of any personal attack or anything like that, just because i came across SO MANY answers like these while scrolling through reddit today⦠and this always makes me think of sensors š
okay, infps also love some stock phrases heheh but i feel like some sensors have nothing else to offer besides that, especially ESTJs. those in particular seem to make everything about wanting to show off lol
anyway, are there any generic responses you find yourself hearing often that donāt really describe you well?
out of the ones i mentioned, the one i hear most, although not that often, is that i care too much
i find it kind of presumptuous because itās just my g&t 𫪠iām easily stimulated by literally any bullshit lololol

Hi everyone :)
Iāve noticed that many of my coworkers, including myself, are INFPs, including the past and present. Have any of yāall noticed this, and if so, what do you think the connection is?
(i also wanted to show my latte art lmao)

You know how the MBTI quizzes always ask about if you have random abstract thoughts and some seem to say if you donāt regularly think of crazy things you arenāt INFP? I know itās very stereotypical. But just wondering how your NE shows up in every day life.

He's typed as an ISFP but I see him way more as an intuitive. I mean clearly Fi is his dom but also he's constantly looking for opportunisties to become this grandiose legend in Baltimore and he's concerned more with the bigger picture of his reputation than the immediate reality of it, literally goes in over his head in season 5 for it.

I am someone who feels too much. Iām an empath, but not the āflowers and kindnessā type. Itās about reading peopleās fake smiles and hidden pain in a split second. I see when my mother is exhausted, when a friend is pretending, and when a girl texts āgood nightā just out of politeness. I see everything, but I stay silent, because I know that opening my mouth will only make it worse.
Iām tired of being the jester. I used to try to make people laugh, to make myself convenient so they would leave me alone. Now I just want to be myself: serious, thoughtful, sometimes angry. I can sit in a corner, watching everyone like a cat, without saying a word. And in that silence, itās easier to breathe.
Iām an INFP, and when I love, I love only once. Deep down, Iām a hopeless romantic, but Iāve buried it so deep that I barely believe it myself. I say, āI donāt care about girls, I have my gaming,ā but the truth is, I crave warmth. I want someone to lie down next to me and just hold me. No words, no demands. But Iām scared. Scared theyāll see my anxiety, see my scars - and leave. So I close myself off. And only at night, with a cigarette, do I let myself think: āWhat if?ā
Iām an anxious person. I donāt drink away my sorrows, and I donāt cut my wrists. I carry everything inside. Iām the guy who calculates an escape plan in case of an emergency at college. Iām not paranoid; I just feel that the world is fragile. And my head is the only place where I can control at least something.
I feel guilty for everything. For not playing with my brother because I was exhausted. For my momās cigarettes. For being angry at my mother, even though she nags me. I carry this weight, and sometimes it crushes me.
But I survive. Despite the anxiety, the exhaustion, the dark thoughts, and empty pockets - I am still here. I smoke, I play games, I make mistakes, I wait. I am a heavy, deep, complex person. I am not for everyone. And the one who can withstand my smoke, my silence, and my pain will get someone who will love them until the very end.
Just needed to get this off my chest. Does anyone else feel this heavy?
upd: Just to clarify, I'm a guy. And sorry, I forgot to mention - I'm incredibly shy in the literal sense. Physical touch from the opposite sex gives me goosebumps down to my bones and makes my face turn red.
upd 2: Guys, I don't know why my replies are getting deleted. I'm not deleting them myself, I swear. If I don't answer you, it's not because I'm ignoring you - I'm just trying to reply to every single comment when I have the time and can keep up with everything. I read every comment and appreciate all of u š«

Hello my fellow INFPs!
I am reaching out to hear from other INFPs about their experience with keeping in constant use their TE. For context, I am currently a masters student. I have a part time job and also I am in the stage of writing my thesis. The latter is particularly important as I have no more funding and need to graduate before summer 2027.
Alongside those commitments, I am part of a student club, and I like to do hobbies such as going to the gym and taking dancing lessons. Additionally I have to navigate other life commitments such as managing my finances and applying for other job opportunities, etc.
The hard part comes when managing all these things together in one week. While I can force myself to do a few things, I canāt seem to keep myself doing things everyday. Sometimes I can get stressed enough to become some sort of āexecutive directorā and put everything in place, but it can only last a few hours or maybe a day.
I would love to hear from other INFPs, especially those more experienced or mature, how they manage their commitments everyday. I have a lot of ambitious projects and dreams, but somehow I always keep stuck in saying āI will do itā rather than actually doing itā¦
Thanks so much in advance for your help!
