Discussion GM Random Thoughts Thread
This thread is intended to serve as a place to write out your random thoughts about who should be our next GM. Please do not clog up the main channel with short thoughts that don’t warrant an entire post—this thread is the proper outlet for that.
Important news updates and long-form, well-thought-out posts are still permitted, as always.

Shit post Colts fans trying to understand that a 30 year old on the last year of the contract 7 games into the season isn’t gonna fetch what they think

Fuck Chris Ballard
The pain. We’ve endured too much pain. We will suffer more, because of this guy’s ego.

Good for Marriott for stopping the support for this clown show

According to Spotrac:
Note, Cam Jurgens is a center (as he keeps being mentioned).

For as many highlights where he makes some insane athletic plays, I will always remember him for this.

Quality Post LOVE YOU BIG Q
im finally emotionally processing this. A 2027 third and a 2028 fifth for a guy who literally saved our franchise’s culture from the absolute gutter? I get the expiring contract, I get the business side, but crap man, this hurts.
When Andrew retired, Big Q was the only reason a lot of us kept tuning in on Sundays. He made watching offensive guard tape appointment television. The 8 Pro Bowls and All-Pros don't even capture it. It was the "Run the Damn Ball" hats. It was him being the absolute first guy running 40 yards downfield to scream in a defender's face and pull his RB off the turf. It was the legendary acoustic pancake audio packages. He gave his entire body to this city.
Even last week when the trade rumors were swirling, he was giving interviews about how much he loved Indy, how he met his wife here, and how he just wanted to get us out of our skid. He's a Ring of Honor lock and a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, and seeing him wear Seattle neon is going to make me physically sick. Hope you win a Ring in Seattle my goat
Thanks for everything, Q. You’re an all-time great. #56 💙🧱

Discussion The Ballard era seems to finally be coming to an end and we will be going into rebuild mode. As much as the past 10 years have sucked for the colts. What’s your favorite moments of this era despite the bad?
r/Colts • u/yourenotmydad22 • 3h ago
I’m fine with the picks as long as Dodds and Shane SteiCANT aren’t in the room on selection day. If they are, expect more mediocrity.

Yes Nelson has been amazing but losing him means absolutely nothing in terms of wins and losses.
He’s not playing a premium position and having a hall of fame guard for 10 years has led to no division titles and 3 playoff games. He’s also gonna break the bank this offseason and would’ve walked for nothing. Getting a 3rd and a 5th is a great trade for both teams. I bet you we will have the same exact record with Jalen Farmer as Quenton Nelson.

If We Are Wanting Picks Then Why Not Play AR??
Look I’m not saying he will play great at all but at this point if we are trying to get draft capital and will most likely lose anyway…then why not play him to increase his trade value and then also trade him??
Discussion Jalen Farmer
Presumably Jalen Farmer will start at LG. Who else is excited to watch Farmer and this young OL develop together?

Feels like folks don't watch other teams.
Just because the Colts are making changes, it doesn't mean they're "doomed for the next five years" or "will never win again". Some of y'all need to step away and breathe. Other franchises have cleaned house and improved.
It's probably going to get worse before it gets better, but that's how a rebuild works. The new GM has to go get a solution at quarterback, and that probably happens in the 2028 draft. For now, calm the eff down.

Roster Move Colts trade Nelson: guards add 0.20 points a game for champions, QBs add 2.3
PigskinPal's data on how the Colts spend:
Guard is one of the lowest-impact positions for champions since 2017. The Colts put 8.5% of their cap there, against 4.4% for the last nine Super Bowl winners.
About 30% of payroll goes to RB, guard and CB, against 21% for contenders.
The data points to drafting a QB in 2028, when a lot of salary comes off the books.

What do you think of the return?
