Guide shittyscreenshare.com

A friend was complaining about how bad screenshare quality is in browsers, so I did this rant. Most OBS + WHIP users I help are either people leaving discord because of screenshare quality or WhatNot users.

Help Vertical Backtrack different now?

So, I have Aitum Vertical and always used a hotkey to instantly save the last 60 seconds.
Updated OBS today, now I cannot find any way to backtrack by hotkey. Only manually by pressing a button in OBS directly with my mouse.

I'm a bit confused about if they removed the feature or if they just moved it. Anyone else having this issue?

Help Windows vs Mac vs Linux for OBS

To add a little context our Church used to use a 2019 Asus Vivobook running Windows 10 with StreamLabs for our livestream; however it was very choppy, and last year I got fed up, and put an old Dell Latitude I found at a dump with Kubuntu on it to run OBS, and it has done way better.

However, because our setup has aged overall (2020), and I've been wanting to fix it for sometime, a lot of work needs to be done (new camera, capture card, PC, etc); I was at a Church meeting a few days ago, and asked we get a new computer; I suggested I build a new AMD one, but an elder suggested a Mac for it, which most seem to be on line with his idea...

I'm somewhat skeptical, though I have incredibly little experience with Apple products if I'm being honest.

On Kubuntu I've also used QPWGraph for routing different audio mixes from our Behringer X32, and because of the current setup I'd need an audio patchbay program like QPWGraph as well, because with it I can add different audio channels to OBS, and add filters to specific mixes.

I also want to get rid of USB capture cards (due to clutter, and a USB cable is just another component to fail), and replace them with a PCIE capture card (I'm also interested in ditching HDMI in favor of SDI), and I'd obviously like to be able to upgrade the GPU if we ever need to. NDI support is also a must for our lyric software, but I'm pretty sure both OSX and Windows support that, but I've gotten it to work on Kubuntu just fine.

Personally Kubuntu has been great, and I'd actually like to continue using it; it has never crashed, and never forces any auto updates either. I would be open to giving Windows another shot with newer hardware, and wanted to know if OSX was even worth considering?

Help Streaming on Twitch with an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB

Hi, I'm having a problem with my stream. I'm just not happy with the quality, and I don't know if there's anything I can do about it or if it's just because I'm using an AMD GPU. No matter how I adjust the settings, everything looks like playdough.

I've tried streaming at 2K using "Enhanced Broadcasting" and also at 1080p60. The image gets pixelated really fast, especially during fast movements.

Thanks in advance. Please bear with me—I don't know much about this.

Edit.: im using These Settings

OBS Studio – Streaming Settings
Output Mode: Advanced
Streaming Settings

Audio Encoder: FFmpeg AAC
Video Encoder: AMD HW H.264 (AVC)
Rescale Output: Lanczos (36 samples), 1920x1080
Encoder Settings
Rate Control: CBR
Bitrate: 7500 Kbps
Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds
Preset: Quality
Profile: High
Pre-Analysis: Disabled
Max B-Frames: 1
AMF/FFmpeg Options: Empty

Help Capture card having static sound

• Upvotes

I recently bought a capture card and everything i plug it in, get it all working, the capture card gives off this awful static sound, if you touch it and whatnot you can also hear it in the recording, only way to counter it is to plug in headphones which really sucks because I play on console so the audio is really poor.

Is there something im missing to fix this issue?

Help Video encoder / rendering lag

I’m newish to obs, wanting to record some gaming videos and stream.
Over the past few days I’ve been experiencing some rendering lag. And by some I mean like 30 to 50 percent at times. Encoding lag has been perfect. Always at 0 percent.
I’m on 2 1440p monitors (game on main and obs open on 2nd) and output scale is also set to 1440p in obs
I have my video encoder set to nvidia nvenc av1
Encoder settings are CQP set to 20.
Key frame is set to 0
Preset is set to p6
Tuning set to high quality
Multiphase set to two passes quarterly
Look ahead is unchecked
B frames is set to 2

I was lowering the preset one by one and even on P1 I was still getting a lot of rendering lag
Also changed output scale to 1080
I did have nvidia background blur set to .05 on my webcam and turning that off seemed to help a bit. Disabling preview window helped a little. Also ran obs as administrator

I’m using an rtx 4070 with a 13700k
Playing call of duty and simulator games.

Now as of today I updated obs to version 33.0.0
And I’ve had zero rendering lag. Maybe a couple missed frames but nothing that makes obs recordings lag or drop frames.
I tested with all 3 nvidia encoders (h264, hevc, and av1) and P1-6 presets. Zero rendering lag.

So what encoder should I be using for recording and streaming ?
Or any recommendations for settings.
Did the new update fix some rendering lag issues ?

Help OBS video lagging vs Nvida Shadowplay

I5 8400 RTX 2060

The cpu goes 100 when I'm recording my game (silent hill townfall)

The game run perfectly at 80fps

But when I'm recording with OBS the video is lagging even using NVENC and high poirity CPU usage in OBBS with 720 60fps recording

But in shadow play it's not lagging at all my video is smooth?

Why? Is there anyway to make obs have no lagging and less cpu like shadowplay?

Help Nintendo Switch 2 Razer Ripsaw HD Audio Problem

I have to link my video to Twitter because I can't seem to find a way to post it here but I'm very curious as to why my audio keeps bugging like this. It will hit a certain threshold and then the rest of the audio starts bugging out or starts sounding choppy. No idea why it does this and I don't know if this is a Razer issue or an OBS one.

Help Audio is sporadic in recordings and begins to flicker on and off as soon as obs is open

Pretty much as the title says. My audio is perfectly fine if obs isnt open. Then when I open obs (not even recording anything yet) my audio gets wierd. Audio in games and from playing mp3s are just fine, however my wallpaper engine wallpaper starts to bug out and only playing for one second before pausing / muting for roughly three seconds and then playing again for one second. I am really confused by this because my wallpaper works just fine as soon as I close obs.

When I try to record with obs the audio only pops up in weird little spikes that dont have a consistent pattern. (Kind of like a very badly connected radio.) This bothers me a lot because I have already lost some ingame footage

My system is pretty powerful so its definitely not just lag (AMD gpu and cpu if that matters). Obs is freshly installed (from steam) with no plugins. I am on Windows 11. Obs is on version 32.2.2.

So far I've tried changing the audio device, changing the frequency on the sample rate from 48 to 44.1, changing the sound channels from stereo to 7.1, validating the files in steam, changing where windows plays sounds and making sure it matches obs, testing most of the audio bitrates to see if anything changes and restarting in safe mode. Nothing helps. I am at my wits end. Does anyone know how to fix this? I want to be able to record like normal and not have obs glitch out my ear just by being open.

Help Skipped frames due to encoding lag

Hello, when I tried starting my stream the other day, my OBS stats went into the red, and I had no idea why because I've never gone into the red or anywhere close before. This was prior to the new update, and I updated it anyway, and it's still the same. I literally could not figure out what it is for the life of me. The only thing I've done differently from now and the last time was to apply to stream in 2K on stream and clean my pc with an air blower (electric) and make a new scene, but that was it, and I don't remember changing anything else.

For now, I've lowered all my settings and changed a lot of stuff but oddly enough its just my stream that isnt working, my games dont lag, my stuff works just fine, its just that when i look at my stream it is lagging and my obs is in the red.

Please let me know if anyone has an answer or if y'all need more context.

My specs are:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070

CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600KF

Windows 11

https://obsproject.com/logs/RGegp2NhyPNgtgTc

EDIT - SOLVED: Go into your settings, click "stream", then where it says "service Twitch" click custom and then click Twitch again, then apply That worked on my end to reconnect.

I don’t know how or why that worked but my stream was completely fine and stable and went back to normal

Help Power lost mid recording… Am I cooked?

I had a camera running for five hours in a makeshift confessional room at my most recent birthday party, obs recording through my webcam when my computer lost power and rebooted, stopping the recording. the file is in my hard drive but for some stupid reason I was recording in Quicktime…

I’ve been scouring the web for solutions for ages the past two days, any solutions? should I take the drive into a repair shop? is it just gone forever? 💔💔

Question Is there a way to remove fan noise in OBS without significantly compromising the audio?

Is there a way to remove fan noise in OBS without significantly compromising the audio?

I’ve tried using the default noise suppression (RNNoise). It works well, but it degrades the audio quality.

If I turn off the noise suppression and switch off the fan, the sound is great, but then it gets really hot in the room, lol

(Note: I don’t know much about OBS. I’ve only watched a few tutorials.)
