To add a little context our Church used to use a 2019 Asus Vivobook running Windows 10 with StreamLabs for our livestream; however it was very choppy, and last year I got fed up, and put an old Dell Latitude I found at a dump with Kubuntu on it to run OBS, and it has done way better.
However, because our setup has aged overall (2020), and I've been wanting to fix it for sometime, a lot of work needs to be done (new camera, capture card, PC, etc); I was at a Church meeting a few days ago, and asked we get a new computer; I suggested I build a new AMD one, but an elder suggested a Mac for it, which most seem to be on line with his idea...
I'm somewhat skeptical, though I have incredibly little experience with Apple products if I'm being honest.
On Kubuntu I've also used QPWGraph for routing different audio mixes from our Behringer X32, and because of the current setup I'd need an audio patchbay program like QPWGraph as well, because with it I can add different audio channels to OBS, and add filters to specific mixes.
I also want to get rid of USB capture cards (due to clutter, and a USB cable is just another component to fail), and replace them with a PCIE capture card (I'm also interested in ditching HDMI in favor of SDI), and I'd obviously like to be able to upgrade the GPU if we ever need to. NDI support is also a must for our lyric software, but I'm pretty sure both OSX and Windows support that, but I've gotten it to work on Kubuntu just fine.
Personally Kubuntu has been great, and I'd actually like to continue using it; it has never crashed, and never forces any auto updates either. I would be open to giving Windows another shot with newer hardware, and wanted to know if OSX was even worth considering?
