Question Is it still worth getting the iPad mini 7 now, or should I wait for the mini 8?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I currently have a 64GB iPad mini 6 and the lack of storage is really starting to bother me. My husband is travelling to the US next week, and I had been saving up to replace it with a 256GB iPad mini 7.

However, I’ve just seen that sales start on the 28th, with deliveries estimated for the 6th od november. He’s coming back on the 7th, so I’m worried that any delay in shipping would mean it doesn’t arrive in time.

Do you think the mini 7 is still worth buying, or would it be better to wait for his next trip (February 2027) and get the mini 8 instead? To be honest, I haven’t really understood the differences between the two models beyond screen size, weight and camera position.

My use is very basic: mostly watching videos on public transport and reading books, so I’m not sure which one makes more sense for me.

Thanks so much for your help!

Question Screen protector help

• Upvotes

Hello.
I own an iPad mini 7 for about 5 months and the first screen protector I bought was a Paperlike 3. I hated it because it was so scratched by my pencil pro in so little time.
Then I bought the Belmont Kent (that I have till now) and it’s much better, it’s barely scratched but the problem is that is mate and makes the screen very “dirty” I mean no crispy.
Is there any better screen protector for writing that has a more crispy effect? I know about the removable ones but I don’t like the idea.
What other suggestions do I have?
Thanks.

Question Updating iPad 10th gen w/ 64 GB of storage

Ios 27.2 is out now. I once came across a post about those with lower storage to wait for ios 27, but I'm still a bit skeptical. Has anyone tried it? Is your ipad still up and running?

  1. Read the fucking description, I already stated the price was a problem, and people are 'helping to restate' again.

  2. I got downvote-bombed, cuz I didn't really care about 60hz. Ok, so many people disagree? Fine, happens everytime. But then some users are downvoting me even on comments where I wasn’t praising or defending the price. Ah whatever. Reddit has no limit to how much karma you gain per comment, but a limit of 20 to how much you lose. Downvote me all you want.

  3. Never cared about 60hz in everyday life. Some may argue that you can't have 60hz at this price, but I don't disagree with that. The price is bad, as stated.

Now, in retrospect, the title sucks. Perhaps I should've renamed it to 'iPad mini is finally getting external display support' and it wouldn't be all that general. But I was still hoping for a certain level of literacy by commenters.

Question ipad dead

my iPad 9th generation was fine just yesterday, I forgot to charge its over night and left the pencil plugged in. I've been charging it for 2h and still not responding, can't even reset. The only option they give me is to take it to an Apple Store.

Never had this problem before.

Discussion Do you think the iPad mini will replace the Kindle?

I am weighing a Kindle purchase for reading, yet I wonder whether an iPad mini might serve as a substitute. My reading centers on novels and practical books, though I may browse magazines and manga at times. If anyone uses the iPad mini as an e-book reader, I would appreciate hearing their impressions.

Question Ipad Air M2 11inch screen protector

Hi guys, new here in reddit. Just wanted to ask if you have any recommendations regarding screen protector? I’ve used generic/non branded and the smart devil. I don’t want the notch cutout on the screen protector, is there any screen protector out there without the notch cutout? What i want is like a punch hole cutout type for the front facing microphone only. Thank you guys! 🤍

Question is the ipad a16 256 gb enough? would it last me a long time?

i’m planning to buy an ipad a16 this december (idk when apple is dropping a new base ipad) and i would use it mainly for note taking, media consumption (netflix and tiktok), and maybe some light drawing. i also have a year or 2 left for my program and i would also use it for reviewing for boards. im not a heavy user and i dont play games, i also have a dedicated kobo for my leisure (reading) so i’m wondering if this is enough to last me a long time since i can’t justify getting an air

Discussion The new iPad mini’s landscape camera is another frustrating Apple compromise

The new iPad mini moves its front camera to the landscape edge, which means it sits awkwardly on the side when the device is held in portrait. For a small tablet that many people naturally use in portrait, this feels like another poor Apple decision.

Sometimes it feels as if Apple intentionally leaves one obvious thing out so people keep wishing for the next version. I am a longtime 13-inch iPad Pro user and use my iPad throughout almost every day, but I absolutely hate the front-camera placement and rarely use it for FaceTime. Apple could have kept a portrait-oriented camera or added a second front camera for portrait use. Instead, it saves the cost while the device remains expensive.

My biggest frustration on the iPadOS side is still the removal of the classic Slide Over and Split View experience from iPadOS 18. I have no interest in the newer windowing system, just as I never used Stage Manager. Apple should bring the old multitasking system back as an option instead of forcing everyone into desktop-style windows.

Does anyone else prefer the old camera placement and the classic Slide Over/Split View system?

Discussion Debating on trading in my iPad Pro 13” for the iPad Mini.

I used to use it daily with the keyboard and pencil. Was basically my work device for a LONG time. I then picked up a MBA and I really don’t use my iPad much anymore. What I do use it for more than most things are reading manga, a bit of 3d design (shapr3d) and my daughter watches some shows occasionally.

The 13” Pro is just too big for me to use without the keyboard honestly. Thinking of swapping and keeping the pencil to use with the iPad Mini for when I do 3d design on it. It’ll probably be 75% manga device really.

How’s the new Mini shaping up?

I got this iPad 2 a few days ago and it’s working pretty well honestly

Initially I had iOS 6 on it but I broke the install so I decided to restore it and downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 and give it a shot. It’s working pretty well and I’ve been using it now for a while like this. Mostly YouTube and some games. Sure not the latest, YouTube is not the highest quality but for 20$ I’m not complaining and it’s a good introduction to iPads for me since I’ve never used one in my life.

So what are your opinions on the iPad 2?

Question Universal Control Help

Does anyone have a solution for the inconsistency in the link between Macbook and Ipad?

Recently bought an Ipad to study and learn with and sometimes I'd want to use it to extend my Macbook screen or to control it from the Macbook through universal control but neither do work,
when trying through the cursor I push it to the edge of the screen and that gray widget appears but then stutters and nothing happens and the devices disconnect like nothing, might sometimes work after doing some black magic restarting devices and turning bluetooth and airdrop off and on.. only work around considered to work is when connected them through a type-c cable but I don't like it as it drains charge from the Macbook to Ipad lol and it should work wirelessly anyways..
saw a lot online facing the same issue for long periods of time so made me wonder if anyone been able to solve it..

Question Shoukd I buy the Ipad A16 or Samsung Galaxy S10 FE

Hello Everyone!

I want to buy an ipad/tablet as I will be starting my masters course sson and would like to use it for studying, note taking, reading, playing games and streaming. I am a bit confused about which one should I go for?

The Samsung Tablet S10 FE comes with a pencil, is cheaper and I have a samsung phone. However the Ipad comes in pink colour and I haven't had an apple device before so I was wondering which one would be better. I would ideally want one that has long battery, connects easily to keyboard and can take notes and voice record lectures.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Question Folio keyboards cases, any tips? [any iPad]

The question is irrespective of iPad model.

Apple has completely abandoned the classic folio type cover. I have an Apple original folio keyboard for the M2 iPad Pro, but looking at upgrading (Air, Pro, Mini) I noticed that the folio case is not offered as an accessory.

I really dislike the Magic Keyboard case. The keyboard folio was just perfect, you can fight me on that. It's powered from the iPad (no separate battery), and adds hardly any weight or bulk to the iPad. All I needed the keyboard for was to type out a text or mail here and there, or for easier browsing. I don't need the trackpad, F-buttons, media controls, that's what the screen is for, it's an iPad after all.

Any other brand offering folio keyboards always combines it with a wrap around case (bumpers all around the iPad), which I don't want either, with regard to bulk and weight.

I saw Logitech has a new one? But it's huge, it's like carrying around an external keyboard (one of the plasticky ones I already own from Logitech).

What's the play here? My current folio is starting to show some wear and tear (after three years being carried in bags, so fair play), and I won't even be able to find a replacement for my current setup.

Discussion Apple, please make the iPad line make sense

Remove the Air name and change the regular iPad to iPad Neo so the mini's place in the lineup makes more sense, because "iPad mini" sounds like a smaller version of the budget iPad whereas it's more like an iPad Air mini currently.
