I bought my mom her first iPad and would love some recommendations.

She likes simple games, cooking, animals, photos, and watching videos. What are some easy and relaxing apps or games I can download for her?

Question Why did Apple not give the New iPad Mini 120Hz?

The frustrating part is that Apple upgraded almost everything else, but left out one feature that makes a huge difference in everyday smoothness. And also Touch ID🫩.

Discussion Apple, please make the iPad line make sense

Remove the Air name and change the regular iPad to iPad Neo so the mini's place in the lineup makes more sense, because "iPad mini" sounds like a smaller version of the budget iPad whereas it's more like an iPad Air mini currently.

Discussion Guys we have the perfect iPad now

iPad mini finally getting external display support. And I don't care about the lack of 120hz or anything. It's small size, with OLED, with the ability to expand canvas on demand, it's perfect.

But the price is 999 SGD. Ah, blame the RAM prices.

Discussion It doesn't matter that most people don't care about 60hz, the Ipad mini should still be 120hz given the price.

The amount of people i'm seeing defending apple for the new ipad mini being 60hz is honestly insane.

You have to remember just how much the ipad mini costs. This isn't a $200 android.

Even if 80% of the people don't care its 60 hz, at this price point it should be a given. Apple is just being cheap/trying to differentiate the pros.

Discussion Do you think the iPad mini will replace the Kindle?

I am weighing a Kindle purchase for reading, yet I wonder whether an iPad mini might serve as a substitute. My reading centers on novels and practical books, though I may browse magazines and manga at times. If anyone uses the iPad mini as an e-book reader, I would appreciate hearing their impressions.

Question Updating iPad 10th gen w/ 64 GB of storage

Ios 27.2 is out now. I once came across a post about those with lower storage to wait for ios 27, but I'm still a bit skeptical. Has anyone tried it? Is your ipad still up and running?

Question A trade in iPad swap question

• Upvotes

I currently have an iPad Pro M1 12.9 inch. I am planning on trading it in for another iPad. The mini intrigues me just because of my lifestyle - I do a lot of reading, planning with Apple calendar and writing with my pencil on the go, I also game on my iPad but not super heavily. I see the mini is A17 or A20 - would I be downgrading by a lot? I don’t know what any of this means I just want someone to tell me what to do šŸ˜…šŸ¤£ maybe just an air? But idk if that’s as portable? Sos.

Question Swapping MacBook for iPad

Considering swapping my M1 MacBook for a iPad A16. Would people say it’s worth the switch? I only really use it for browsing/social media/videos. Or should I stick to the MacBook.

Question Artist struggling to decide on screen size

• Upvotes

Hi - I am wondering if anyone can tell me if they use an 11ā€ or a 13ā€ iPad?

I’m torn between the two sizes of the M4 air. Another option would be an M3 13ā€ but it has less ram and an older chip.

It would mainly be to draw backgrounds in feather 3d and some artwork in procreate. I have a Cintiq and movink for my manga work in clip studio.

I like to have the flexibility of drawing in bed, on my lap on the sofa etc, is the 13 inch one too heavy/big?

I like the idea of the 11 inch models portability but I’m worried it will be cramped.

I don’t really draw on the go. The idea does sound nice though it would be rare.

Question Does iPhone 16e hotspot work flawlessly with iPad?

• Upvotes

I currently have an iPhone 16e with unlimited hotspot and an android tablet and windows laptop but no home internet. When I want to use the tablet or laptop on my iPhones hotspot they will disconnect randomly and I have to toggle the hotspot and WiFi off and back on for the iPhone and the other device simultaneously to get it to reconnect. They only stay connected for a little while so it’s very annoying and it keeps me from using my tablet or laptop to a minimum. I know home internet is a solution here but I would rather buy an iPad or MacBook than pay monthly for internet. Do iPads and MacBooks connect flawlessly to an iPhone hotspot since they would be signed into the same iCloud account?

Question Daughters iPad doesn’t want to turn on.

• Upvotes

Looking for advice on this.

Daughter was playing on her iPad today and it hit 0% and turned off.

When I got home from work she told me it’s not charging and I had a look and it’s showing a wire and battery. When I plugged the lightning cable in. It just shows a battery. Her iPad is 9th generation if that helps.

I looked online and I’ve tried ā€œforce resettingā€ it by pressing the home button and on/off button and that just makes the iPad go to black screen and then the battery pops back up again.

I’ve left it alone for around an hour and still nothing.

It’s plugged it up to the wall using a 20w charger.

I’ve now changed outlets and also changed cables and thinking about leaving it over night to see what happens.

Any advice would be awesome.

Thank you.

Question iPad Air 4th Gen 64gb WiFi + Apple Pencil, worth anything in 2026?

• Upvotes

It's a barely used iPad. I bought it in early 2020 with plants to use Procrate to design/make stickers and bookmarks. I wanted to start an Etsy store. Shortly after I bought the iPad, the world started shutting down because of Covid, so money for rent and groceries became more important than investing in supplies and a Cricut. I never got back into those plans, and my iPad became a glorified YouTube watching device that I only got out every few months. I don't touch it anymore. I forget I even have it sometimes. My phone is a Samsung. My laptop is a Windows. I'm not invested in the Apple ecosystem. I am thinking about selling the iPad. I know I won't get what I paid for it, but considering the great condition that it's in (still looks as new as the day I bought it) and that I never bloated it with apps, I don't want to lowball myself either. So I'm curious if there's any value today?

Discussion Freeform melting iPad

So i decided to switch to Freeform for this academic year, though im starting to regret it massively. It’s impossible to get more than 60 minutes of usage without the iPad reaching extreme temperatures and HUGE lag spikes. Let’s not talk about battery drain. That’s not what my issue mainly is. I can’t write at all. That’s the problem. Even now if I open it for more than 15 minutes there is a delay when i write to when i see what i have written down. Later on lag spikes start. Im on a iPad Pro m5 13 inch 512. It’s insane that it can not use Freeform. Even if i try to switch back to notability. Where i never encountered any issue and could easily do 10h sessions with full brightness and plugged in charger without any thermal throttling. I can not export it . It’s way to laggy to even do that. Idk what I can do but this is unacceptable. Im not using auto refine handwriting or detect language mistakes. I only use the single app , so no background activity. Is there anything I can do? Mabye sideload a better version? Or change the ipa properties to allow more gpu usage, or something like that. I have really no clue what to do. I find it insane that to run Freeform its more intensive than using a side loaded Minecraft java edition with shaders. That thing runs at 140fps smooth. Freeform is around 30fps even in the first 15 minutes.

my iPad 9th generation was fine just yesterday, I forgot to charge its over night and left the pencil plugged in. I've been charging it for 2h and still not responding, can't even reset. The only option they give me is to take it to an Apple Store.

Never had this problem before.

News OLED iPad Mini Gets Proper External Display Support

Thumbnail
slatepad.org
86 Upvotes

Buried in Apple’s press release is that the OLED iPad Mini is getting proper (non-mirrored) external display support with iPadOS 27.2. I’ve been using the 11-inch Pro as my daily driver, partially because it can also plug into a monitor for productivity.

Even with a 60hz display, this might change what iPad I bring with me on the go.

Anyone else?
