CSM Different models for Citadels via skins

Thumbnail gallery
134 Upvotes

I am looking for input from eve players on official CSM discord server to get players opinions on if they want/would pay for citadel skins that change the model of the upwell citadel structures. This would change the look instead of just applying a different pay to the structure itself. There are a ton of neat structure models in eve already and I think people would enjoy a new look.

The goal of these skins would be to maintain the same dimensions of the citadel structure(size of the structure itself and tether distances) but use models already existing in game to give it a new look.

But I want to provide that data to ccp so if you do not mind jumping onto the CSM discord https://discord.gg/bbbCBAu and you can give your thoughts and ideas on the subject.

I have attached several structure models already in the game that i think would be cool to see applied to citadel structures.

Rant Whats with

The holy doctrine in EVE that says if you’re not in comms 24/7, you’re basically a heretic. Apparently logging in isn’t enough, you must also sacrifice your peace and quiet to the great discord gods.

We’re ratting, mining, huffing, whatever and somehow the expectation is “Get in comms.”

Oh absolutely, let me drop everything so I can listen to Todd narrate his life story while I shoot rats, truly essential gameplay.

And the best part? Ask a simple question in corp chat something that could be answered with, you know, words and it’s crickets cause everyone is busy stroking eachother in vc and 45 minutes later when someone finally bothers to check ig its “Hop in comms” Yeah man, super convenient. For you.

Meanwhile I’m trying to talk to my actual family, not audition for the role of “Guy Who Breathes Loudly in Discord.” Then there’s the social hierarchy. If you’re not glued to comms like it’s a medical device keeping you alive, you’re never going to be able to anything other than exist. Forget about any sort of role where even only small bit of trust is required. Sorry I didn’t realize friendship required mandatory attendance in the church of voice chat. My bad for having a life.

Comms for PvP? Sure. Comms for PvE? Absolutely not, i don’t need a motivational speech to shoot npc or munch on rocks and watch local, I promise I can handle it with out sitting in comms.

And the whole “best ship is friendship” thing adorable. But why does friendship require me to sit in comms listening to someone’s keyboard clacking like they’re trying to speedrun a novel? We have in‑game chat. CCP put it there on purpose. Wild concept, I know.

Anyway, shoutout to the chill corps who understand that not everyone wants to be trapped in voice comms for every mundane activity. The rest of you can enjoy your 8 hour discord ted talks. I’ll be over here actually enjoying the game.

Devblog Neocom is back: version 3.0, free forever as an apology for the 5-year silence

o7 capsuleers,

First, an apology. I haven't updated Neocom in about five years. A lot of you kept using it anyway. Some of you wrote to me, filed bug reports or asked whether it was dead, and I didn't give you much to go on. I'm sorry about that. You deserved better from the app and from me.

I spent last months rebuilding it, and today Neocom 3.0 is out for iPhone and iPad. It's a full rewrite in SwiftUI, built on the current ESI and the latest static data export.

To say thank you for sticking around, Neocom is now completely free. No subscriptions, no ads, no in-app purchases, no premium features to unlock. Everything in the app is available to everyone.

Thanks for flying with Neocom all these years. Fly safe.

Discussion Let me tell you a story...

At first I was thinking wether i should post this story here or not but then I decided that i should because theres quite abit of bad decisions that led me here.

So I finally come home from work, decide to fly abit in my favourite space submarine game. Unfortunately my small gang and I didnt find good PvP content (we got rolled by 20 Drekavacs) oh well it happens.

So I decide to crab some Abyss. And just right before I was about to go to bed, i've decided.. one more. And that was the first bad decision i've made. You probably can guess where its going. I find my dark hidden spot, jump in do my Abyss, jump out. And I see a whole armada a Sin, Widow, Panthers and so on.. clearly i've no chance.. so i hop out of the ship and decide to save my Capsule and that was actually a good decision.

Cut your losses.

Heres where the bad decisions keep on piling up. I get offered my ship back for 2B Contractwise, thats nice actually unfortunately, i dont have Isk so i cant accept I contact the person.

"Do you want to Barter?"

"Sure.. what do you've?"

We whip up an exchange i cough up all my isks and whatever stuff i have and at this moment i knew something was off, like it was off already but now it just feels wrong, I do get the ship, unknowingly obviously i didnt know you could check the fit.

You guessed it right. They got me twice. Like an absolute moron. All the good stuff was taken out of the ship.

Oh well. I guess thats EVE for you.

It was bound to happen and atleast i'am happy it happend that way and not in the classical "Get blasted." way.

So whats my lesson to you?

Dont try to view people as honorable and that they will uphold any promises. Cut your losses, atleast you'll just lose once. Today I lost multiple times. I also gained some semi rare experience.

But eh. Thats okay. Such is life in the world of Multiboxing EVE.

I still got the hull. Maybe i'll rebuild it, move my endeavours somewhere else. Or i'll try out something else. Who knows?

Remember kids.. In order for somebody to win somebody has to lose and if you've to be the loser make sure you lose once.

I'am sure Karma would get the guy, that is if he would undock something more expensive that just a cyno.

Question Solo player, where is the smartest place to drop a station?

It feels like the next step in my journey and I really want to do some moon mining of at least r16s so I want to drop an athanor, and I know it’s always risky but I’m wondering from more experienced players where they think the best spot is?

Low sec seems like a bad idea, the cost to negotiate with someone like black flag so it doesn’t get popped immediately seems prohibitive

Sov null same thing, I do wonder if I do it in a quiet system of one of the huge corps how long it would be until they notice

C4,5 seems like an immediate eviction and I don’t even know I can do the sites out there.

NPC null seems like the second best idea, find a quiet system that isn’t close to a big corps sov null, I spent some time in angel and thukker space, seemed quiet? Wonder if I could hide a station there… maybe outer ring or something?

C3 seems like the best idea. Sure it will get evicted eventually but it’s the perfect space for me, problem is moons are only r4s

I don’t know much about c1,2 or 6 systems.

Listen I know it’s gonna get popped eventually but I’d love to do it and I’d love to make money on it. I’d love any thoughts on where you think it’d be most successful.

Guide A unique skyhook raid/route planner, hookwatch.

Please forgive me for joining the influx of vibe coded apps but i believe I have created something actually unique to the space that I haven't come across before (at least publicly available)

A route/raid planner around skyhooks in new eden that has information about what is actually in the skyhooks bays.

I live record every single skyhook in the game and as such can tell when they have been raided and which hooks are worth your time to fly to and raid. Combine this with thera/turnur wormholes and live activity intel my tool is capable of increasing the profitability of your raids ten fold.

We have a months data so far and the recording never stops so the data is just getting stronger each day.

Got 10 users from my eve forum post below and would like to gain more feedback on features you would find useful :

https://forums.eveonline.com/t/hookwatch-intelligent-skyhook-raid-and-routing-tool/520839

Good luck on your raids - and don't forget to leave some for me :)

Rant STOP POSTING ABOUT THE CSM LIKE YOU ARE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT

“I’m a csm candidate for new players!”
“I support small QOL changes!”
“We should improve the UI!”
“We should improve ship balance!”

I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE ALL OF YOU ARE SAYING THE SAME SHIT ON REPEAT. NONE OF YOU ARE DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER, THE CSM ISNT THE PRESIDENCY YOU JUST GET TO SIT IN A SLACK CHANNEL WITH CCP AND BE A FOCUS GROUP. YOU ARE ALL ON THE LEVEL OF A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL IN TERMS OF ACTUAL INFLUENCE

AND IT DOESN’T MATTER ANYWAY HOW MANY CHUDDING R/EVE VIEWERS SEE YOUR VERY UNIQUE CAMPAIGN POST AND VOTE FOR YOU BECAUSE YOUR BLOC EITHER PUTS ON THEIR BALLOT (AND YOU GET A SEAT NO MATTER WHAT) OR YOU LOSE.

It's almost impossible to do mutaplasmids in 100+ bulk due to the fact that it takes a ton of time to click through hundreds of these. So, adding this button would not only make it easier to create them but it would also improve the availability of good Abyssal modules for all players, which means lower prices for Abyssal modules.

Discussion How many people are in Thera at any time?

Does anybody have an estimate?

I'm not normally a wormholer, but I went to Thera a few weeks back while I was on a tourist tour of monuments. I was there for maybe half an hour, saw nobody in local and nothing on d-scan. I felt guilty when I decloaked for a selfie...

...like I was an interloper, breaking some sort of wormhole honour code. Now I wonder how many other people were there. Does anybody have an educated guess?

Question Ice mining

I once saw someone in high-sec who came in an Orca, took a mining ship out of the ship hangar, and started ice mining. I was wondering how they could do that when there’s a chance someone might steal their ship. Is that actually something people do?

Post image
202 Upvotes

Just wanted to show my pay to win multiboxing rig. I can comfortably view 10 clients at once without having to minimize anything, though I only currently have 6 active subscriptions, I plan to get two more once my girlfriends daughters disability check comes in.

I'm already in talks with the Imperium for them to surrender their space, since with this set up I am literally an unstoppable God.

Discussion 3-month-old solo player moved into a C2 with a HS static. Am I crazy, or is this actually working?

Post image
305 Upvotes

So a while back I asked about moving into a wormhole solo, and the response was... mixed. Some people were helpful, some told me I was going to get evicted in a week, and one kind soul recommended I look into building a "dickstar" POS instead of going straight for an Astrahus. I had no idea what that was. I looked it up, and here we are.

Against all the "don't do it solo" advice, I moved into a C2 with a HS static. I'm about 3 months old, so still very much a noob.

Current setup: Large Caldari Control Tower, 24 ECM batteries (mix of regular and faction), 9 resistance arrays giving me 57% resists across the board, and 16,666 strontium in the bay for the full reinforcement timer. Everything is online. The hole is quiet for now.

In the last two days I've made about 670 mil ISK from a mix of gas, ore, combat sites, and a bit of exploration. So it's working. Or at least it looks like it is.

My question to you fine people: Given that setup, would anyone actually bother attacking it? I'm genuinely curious. The way I see it, anyone who wants my stuff has to commit to a 41-hour siege, chew through 50M shield HP with no resist hole, and deal with a wall of jams the whole time. All for a 50/50 chance at the hangar contents. It feels like the math isn't in their favor, but I've been wrong before.

Also, for anyone else thinking about doing this solo as a newbro, what should I actually be worried about? I know the HS static is the most trafficked connection type. I know I can't watch five holes at once. I'm under no illusions that I'm invincible. But I'd rather learn from people who've done it than find out the hard way.

Discussion Should legion get Weapon disruptors bonuses with neuts

Pretty much title. I am thinking this would be good for laser legions. Since neuts dont really sit well with lasers( bigger range, cap hungry) they kinda work only with HAMs. Just look at Loki, its webs can work with every guns in the game. I think that would make legion more enjoyable and not just getting locked on antimatter core system (atleast for solo pvp).

Also lasers are kinda meh you get outdps, outranged and out tracked really easy, so if enemy is piloting good its hard to use its biggest strength the alpha. So disruptors could tip battle into your way. What is your opinion on it? Would it be too strong or useless? Should they replace neuts or just give both in core system.?

Did Abyssals get a difficulty increase since they were introduced?

A few years ago I was in a corp and they taught me how to do Abyssals. They provided me with this fit since I liked using the Catalyst Navy Issue, and they suggested Calm Exotic to start with:

https://abysstracker.com/fit/3c7e29ef-efab-45ac-a5ae-4b0cf83deaa2

They gave me a list of skills to train and taught me how to most quickly and efficiently defeat the enemies in each pocket. I went in with zero experience, and it was so easy, genuinely one of the easiest but also most interesting combat experiences I'd ever experienced! In fact I had to quadruple-check with the corp members teaching me that I hadn't missed anything because it was so easy. I must've made 1 billion in just Abyssals with just that fit and just Calm Exotic. It was fun, engaging, and easy. I could literally watch YouTube videos on the side while I mindlessly did Abyssals, it was that easy.

I haven't been in a corp in years, but I came back recently with a fresh character, trained up all the same skills, purchased the same ship, constructed the same fit, bought the same Calm Exotic, did everything exactly the same as my past teachings. I use the same strategies as I was taught, same order of operations, same distances, same "kiting", 1:1 same exact EVERYTHING... for some reason it's the most difficult thing ever??? I got past the first 2 pockets with 0 shields, 0 armor, 1% hull, and a drained capacitor. I took the extra time to let it repair and regenerate. In the third pocket I was greeted with two cruiser-sized enemies who literally one-shot me. I can confirm without a sliver of a doubt that my weapons are doing the same damage as before, so it's not like my damage isn't adequate. My shield, armor, and hull amounts are exactly the same as last time, and so is my capacitor amount. I double-checked, yes I did activate Calm Exotic and not any of the more difficult types.

I want to doubly reiterate, I know for a fact I did everything 1:1 exactly the same as I did before, at least I'm confident I did. Skills, ships, fit, actions taken inside the rift, everything. My damage output was identical, but my capacitor now drains nearly instantly, which is weird because I very distinctly remember a past corp member saying "I know you like cap-stable ships, so I found this fit for you", so something seemed off when I noticed it wasn't cap-stable. My shields and armor go down in just a few hits even with all modules activated, which are supposed to, as the fit's description says, tank the armor damage.

Am I missisng something? I'm VERY far from an inexperienced player, so if I did something wrong, it's because something has changed or it was a very small mistake with very big consequences. I watched a YouTube tutorial on this, and everything they recommended, I already knew from my past training. Did some game mechanic change or get nerfed anytime in the past ~4 years?

Edit: Before anyone asks, I wrote this post by hand. I write large walls of text, I'm sure my post history is good evidence of this.

Edit 2: After staring at fits for a while, it hit me - I didn't run Calm Exotic, I ran TRANQUIL exotic! That should explain the difficulty spike! I'm off to grind up money for a new fit, I'm so sorry for wasting everyones' time!

So I hope this shameless promoting is allowed and will not get banned, but recently https://www.lloydgeorge.art/ created this awesome painting of my beloved Vargur (with the bloody hands skin) and I think he deserves more love. It came in by mail a while back and I still love it so much!! Let me know what you guys think, and if you like it, perhaps drop a visit to his website to promote his great work. He is also a streamer on Twitch, and the making of can be found on his channel https://twitch.tv/lloyd_george_art as well. Cheers o7
