General Question Moodboards Labeled Other Than Moodboard Monday Are Still Moodboards

This is a general reminder that there is a weekly megathread if one feels the need to post them outside of Mondays. Please stop clogging the subreddit on other days trying to justify them as "type me" or what not.

Yes, I'm being the fun police today. The majority of us do not enjoy seeing board after board (according to moderation polling earlier this year). Please respect this.

Type Me Tuesday It's that time of the week again! :D

These questions are meant to narrow down someone's MBTI, but I think a lot of them can be used to find someone's enneagram type too! (Pic unrelated.)

  1. "You have a completely free Saturday. What does your ideal day look like?"

My ideal day looks like spending the whole day with my partner doing whatever I want (since we're usually just doing what she wants, most of the time). We wake up, have some morning sex, eat breakfast, take a stroll through the park (assuming it's not too hot out and it's not too windy, so that I don't have to constantly be readjusting my hair the whole time), go home, play videogames and watch movies together while binging on some snacks, have sex again, and cuddle each other as we fall asleep and hear her tell me she loves me and words of affirmation in general throughout the day :3

  1. "After spending an entire day with lots of people, how do you usually feel?"

It kinda depends. If it's a bunch of people I don't like for whatever reason, then I'm pretty drained. Though I guess that's kinda just the human condition, right? Lol. Otherwise, I'm completely fine, even if I was just neutral toward them or something. In fact, if I did like them, I'd go as far as to say that I feel rather charged and excited!!

  1. "When you're working through a problem, do you think out loud with others or think it through by yourself first?"

I think out loud, even if no one is around to hear.

  1. "At a party where you only know one person, what are you most likely to do?"

I would try and make friends through that one person. So if or when that one person inevitably starts talking to some other folks (as I'm presuming that this person is the one who invited me in the first place, and therefore they must know someone else there too), that's when I take advantage of the opportunity to try and squeeze myself into a conversation with a new person and get to know them through the original person. If, for whatever reason, I can't hang out with that one original person to accomplish this in the first place (e.g., this one person is busy elsewhere or I lost them somehow), I'd just try and strike up a conversation with whoever I found interesting at the party and go from there.

  1. "Do you process life by talking, or do you usually know what you think before you speak?"

I process life by talking.

  1. "When learning something new, do you prefer examples first or the underline theory first?"

Hmmm. I honestly don't know how to answer this, as I feel like I can go back and forth between underline theory and examples. Maybe I need examples first for me to truly understand something.

  1. "Are you more interested in what is happening right now, or in what could happen in the future?"

I am more interested in what is happening right now, though I think about the future a lot in order to be considerate of others and how my decisions could impact them down the road.

  1. "When someone tells you a story, what details tend to stick with you: the concrete facts, or the bigger meaning/lesson?"

The bigger meaning/lesson.

  1. "If you travel somewhere new, what excites you most: experiencing the sights, food, and culture, or discovering new ideas and perspectives?"

Experiencing the sights, food, and culture.

  1. "Are you generally more practical or imaginative?"

Ooooo this is tough. I guess I'll say imaginative, though I've often been told  by others that I'm both.

  1. "Imagine you have to fire someone who is a close friend. How would you approach this?"

Genuinely a nightmare situation 😭 I guess I would do my best to make it easier for them by telling them that this says nothing about them, their worth, or who they are as a person, and that their gifts would simply be better utilized elsewhere. I'd then do everything in my power to comfort them and support them through this whole process. I'd later try and help them maybe find another avenue or route in life that they could go down instead to reach their full potential.

  1. "When making a difficult decision, what carries more weight: what is objectively fair, or what will affect people the most?"

What will affect people the most. Life is, unfortunately, usually rather unfair. So you need to prioritize people first and how you impact them in order to get as close as possible to "fairness" to begin with, if that makes any sense.

  1. "If two friends are arguing, what role do you naturally take: the problem solver, or the peacemaker?"

Peacemaker.

  1. "What's more frustrating: illogical decisions, or insensitive people?"

Insensitive people.

  1. "How do you usually plan a holiday: with a detailed itinerary, or a rough idea and see what happens?"

A rough idea and see what happens.

  1. "Do you work more effectively when the deadline is starting to approach, or do you consistently work effectively even when the deadline is a while away?

I want to be like the second one, but I'm probably more like the first lol. I am a procrastinator, unfortunately 😭

  1. "How much do you value a tidy work space?"

I value it very much and I can't think straight if it's in disarray.

  1. "When plans suddenly change, what is your first reaction?"

I am annoyed, suffice it to say. I can adapt and completely understand if it was out of anybody's control, of course, but I get very frustrated and angry if it was well within the control of others and people were either just inconsiderate or irresponsible in general.

  1. "Do deadlines motivate you, or do they stress you?"

I guess they motivate me? Without deadlines, I'd probably get nothing done. I need structure. They can be stressful, sure, but they're much nicer to have than not. I'd rather have the stress of a deadline than the stress that exists without one. I wouldn't do good at a job from home, for example, because I wouldn't have the discipline to do something like that. I need outside pressure and structure to get stuff done.

The way I see it, you'll be stressed either way. So why not choose the option that stresses you less? Structure and fewer options is better than aimlessness and a million options...

  1. "When you finish a project early, how do you feel?"

I feel great. Now I don't have to worry about that project anymore and I can forget about it + do something I actually like instead. Either that or just get something else productive done after finishing that project early.

  1. "What does your mind naturally do when you're sitting in silence?"

Hmmm. I guess I naturally start thinking of other people?

  1. "When life gets stressful, what is your default coping strategy?"

I withdraw and pull away from everyone to be by myself. I will often take this time alone to doomscroll, bedrot, play videogames, and listen to sad music/be in my feelings, or else just totally lock in and double down on self-improvement while I'm away from everybody so that I can come out later and present myself to the world as this shiny new being that's now unstoppable and capable of accomplishing anything.

  1. "What do people misunderstand about you the most?"

I think people see me as more full of myself than I actually am. People have often seen me look at myself a lot in the mirror and thought I was in love with myself or something, when really I'm just wildly insecure about my appearance and I'm constantly looking at myself in the mirror to check if I need to readjust or fix something. I'm worried I look bad, I don't think I naturally look good unless I work hard for it.

Also, I've often been told by others that they thought I was a "douche" before they got to know me. They said I "looked like one" (physical appearance wise), but then quickly realized after talking to me that I'm actually "super nice."

Idk why or how I give people the immediate impression with my looks that I'm a douche 💀😭

  1. "What is your biggest strength?"

My communication skills. I've been told I'm very persuasive in general. That I have a "silver tongue." I'm also very good at "translating" what people are trying to say to one another. Not necessarily in the literal sense of actual languages, but more so metaphorically speaking. I always notice when or how people are talking past each other in some way, so I will sort of act as the go-between for folks and try and "translate" what each person is intending to convey or get across. And I'm very good at understanding what people mean or are intending to communicate toward me, so I'll usually say what their exact point is before they even get to finish making it in a conversation or I use the exact word that captures the core essence of the whole idea they're attempting to communicate.

  1. "What is your biggest weakness?"

I tend to read into people's words and actions too much, and care wayyyy too much about what others think about me. I can also be a bit... histrionic at times, admittedly. Ngl 💀

  1. "How do you know when a decision is the right one?"

I guess when my gut tells me it's right? I usually just trust my gut on most things anyway and I'm right at least 85% of the time. If I'm not exactly right, I'll adjust and pivot where need be later. Certainty doesn't exist in this world for the most part to begin with, so it's fine if you screw up every now and then so long as you simply don't screw up SO badly that you can't possibly recover or save face somehow. Most decisions probably aren't 100% right to begin with, but if they're even just 85% right then that's enough room for error for a person to just pivot and readjust in order to save themselves later 🤷‍♂️

  1. "Would you rather read one fascinating book, or meet ten new people?"

Oooooo this is lowkey a bit tough cuz I've read some pretty life-changing books...

I guess if I had to pick one, I'd choose meeting ten new people :P (Tho I'd prefer if the number of people were less, tbh. I'm a quality over quantity kind of person.)

  1. "Would you rather plan everything, or improvise?"

This is also tough. I feel I can somewhat go back and forth between planning and improvising, but I'd say there's 65% planning and 35% improvising in my life. So I guess I lean towards rather planning for everything.

  1. "Would you rather solve a mystery, or comfort a friend?"

Comfort a friend for sure.

  1. "Would you rather live in the present, or dream about the future?"

I'd rather live in the present if I could, but I know what I tend to actually do is dream about the future (lol).

  1. "Would you rather have certainty, or have options?"

Certainty. Too many options is annoying and usually just counter-productive at the end of the day. Though, that's not to say I'm afraid of uncertainty. Life in general is often uncertain and the sooner people accept that, the happier they'll be. Some things are simply out of our control, unfortunately. I would just rather have certainty than options if I could only pick one, I guess.

Personal Growth & Insight discovered that I am a cringe double attachment normie beta 946 instead of an awesome cool and ultra obscure rare friggin epic 945 and now I must scream

I thought that being an asocial borderline schizoid who is constantly in their head was enough of a qualifier but i guess not. I am screaming to go "not me" even though I know damn well that it is. my 4 fix was clinging to the speschul identity attached to the obscurity from the 5 fix, silly as it may seem. 9-6 stem has been described as groupthinks who are also cowards that want to stick with they squads. I do not relate to this, and I definitely don't want to. I also didn't relate much to enneagrammer's description of the 9-6 stem. So what made me decide on 6 over 5? I've kept noticing this sort of thinking, I'm having a hard time articulating but I'll attempt to explain: I have an insecure sort of mind that wants to disown itself and be reflective of the majority, subconsciously of course. some of this is 9, but I've noticed a 6ish aspect to this as well. a part of myself fears being blamed and would rather have that blame put on anything else. I have also noticed that I'll feel out public opinions. If I'm watching a video I'll always check the comment sections to get a general consensus of the opinions of viewers. my 4 side hates this conformity and wants to wipe itself from existence or crawl out of its skin. It feels similar to being born with ugly features, meaning there's nothing you can do about it and you sort of have to accept being a little npc-ish and not as original of a person as you thought you were. that sounds way too harsh towards triple/double attachments, but that is my genuine insecurity. plenty of other people think this way too, and they're not as willing to admit it. being original is valued; being a trailblazer is valued. this could be a pretty controversial post but I'm willing to accept that. I think it's a nice opportunity for other people who think like this but don't want to admit it or accept it to reflect on themselves.

Type Me Tuesday Its that time of the week again and you’re gonna help me know if im either a very stressed e2 or just an another enneagram with a princess complex

• Upvotes

Idk how to do this so i’ll just answer type questions and how i act

1- “Whats your biggest fear?”
I generally fear the idea of being dropped into a world without preparation, cushioning, or a support system to fall back to. I fear the idea of losing someone i love, being unloved by that person, or just being in psychological pain (its not THAT much but its still there)

2- “Whats your wants?”
I want to be treated as a princess, have someone i can trust or be guided by and for people to follow my demands. I mostly feel entitled to a comfortable and easy life because i suffered a lot during middle school

3- “Whats your personality like?”
Im pretty selfish all things considered but i still want to be praised so i do stuff for others (albeit reluctantly) I usually act super cute, childish and ditzy around people who have power over me or people i find intimidating, while when im with people who are in my eyes on my level im mostly sarcastic with little to no filters with my speech.

4- “Do you feel like you have to be perfect?”
I mean, not really like I generally say “If its good enough it doesn’t need fixing.” unless its something im passionate about then im rolling in my grave trying to make it perfect

5- “What motivates you?”
I just want to look cool or cute when i do stuff, or the fact that i would have something to write about on job resumes or university applications.

6- “What annoys you?”
People not really taking me seriously when im trying to talk to them, and people overstepping my boundaries because “Oh well you used to be fine with that”

Idk if this is enough and feel free to ask questions if it means typing me would be easier for you

Type Discussion What do you look like when you interact with people of the same type as you? Do you tend to get along with others of the same type?

I noticed recently that I actually can have difficulties communicating with other 7s. I'll always appreciate them, but I feel like I tend to like talking to people that are more grounded and philosophical (4,9,5) than other 7s. I'm generally better at conversation than a lot of 7s I know, as I'm good at not talking about myself too much, and tend to be curious about other people.

I feel like the flow of conversation is typically difficult with other 7s, as we're both a little scatterbrained, which weirdly be frustrating when we are not on the same wavelength and when we both have various things we want to talk about, but are not in sync. If you've talked to a 7 before, you know they talk about what they want to talk about. I feel like it almost forces me into 1, where I kind of need to present as more focused, and sort of "swallow my pride" and almost ground myself so we don't spin one another out, which can be a little frustrating when I also want to be excited and joyful. It's never overtly combative, of course, but I generally tend to find it a little "off" with other 7s for me. I feel like I tend to almost come across as like a 4,3, or 1 with other 7s.

It's funny, because I generally feel like people won't get along well with people of the exact same type, since it tends to remind them of themselves a little too much, or that people tend to require differences to have true chemistry in relationships (romantic, platonic, or professional). That being said, I do have friends who have successfully dated people of their own type: I know a 7/7 couple who lasted pretty long, as well as a 1/1 couple (nightmare parent rotation).

I imagine there may be some theoretical reasons why other types wouldn't get along with their same types. This is assuming that they aren't close friends already, and that it's more of an acquaintance thing. But, of course, I can only theorize with this, and can't speak for types that aren't my own.

  • I theorize that two 2s would want to subconsciously focus on the other too much, and they very much do not always like being given their own support as a rejection type.
  • I theorize that two 3s basically turn into the business card scene from American Psycho, but it also depends on whether they are in the same "arena" of success, so to speak. IE, a 3 nurse and a 3 lawyer or something could get along better than two 3 lawyers, who would compete too much.
  • 4s with other 4s might be more likely to get along with others, but I can perceive that there would still be a subtle competition to kind of distinguish themselves from the rest, and a weird subtle rivalry between them.
  • 5s could actually get along well, but I feel like there has to be a sort of unified interest. Otherwise, they may not really have a spark and might be in two different worlds. But, I see this one going okay.
  • I feel like two 6s would either be really co-dependent, or stress each other out too much.
  • I think that two 7s would spin one another out too much, and either get on each other's nerves due to a lack of satisfaction with the conversation, and both feeling kind of unfulfilled from it.
  • Two 8s would be kind of like two bears at a zoo getting fed at the same time, where it would be calm and respectful until one of them feels infringed upon and the conflict erupts.
  • Two 9s would very much get along if one of them was able to actually meet the threshold of taking action to initiate. I feel like they'd both defer to one another too much to the point where it naturally kind of fizzles out.
  • Lastly two 1s in my mind is one I can't quite comprehend. I feel like they don't like being criticized, but love to criticize. But, I figure they'd generally stay out of each other's way out of politeness.

While these are obviously influenced by my own personal mental image and experiences of each type, I feel like a lot of types want the same thing, and being with another person of the same type inherently puts you in competition with others for that thing.

This may be a bigger deal for some. IE. 7s quite often want to talk about what they want to talk about, and this often isn't possible for both of them .This is also true for 2s, who want to give, but not always be given (on a conscious level, they very much do want to be given subconciously). But, I feel like some type pairings aren't quite in competition in the same way. It may be context dependent, like I mention with 3s, 4s, and 5s.

I also see this being a time where wings matter a lot. My instinct I have to defer to others and "solve the problem" when talking to other 7s almost always comes down to when I talk to 7w8s. They're going to keep going, I am going to change my approach to make sure the needs are being met.

What do you think? Curious about other people's insights about themselves! :)

Type Discussion Can yall give me examples of sx4 and sx6 characters

The less stereotypical the better, I wanna have a better idea of these types bc I’m between 6 and 4 and I’m an sx dom (preferably sx/so but just any sx4/6 is fine)

Also not necessary, but would be helpful I know why you think this character is that type

DISCLAIMER: I LIKE ALL TYPES EQUALLY AND I'M NOT SHOWING ANY FAVORITISM OR THROWING ANY SHADE TOWARD ANY SPECIFIC TYPES HERE. THIS IS STRICTLY JUST MY OPINION ON HOW COOL I THINK THE NAMES ARE FOR EACH OF THE SUBTYPES. THAT IS ALL.

:3

Edit: On second thought, Sx9 maybe should've been a bit higher. "Symbiosis" lowkey sounds hard as heck. Like Venom or the villain in "The Thing" or something, idk lol.

Type Discussion Would it be accurate to say that everyone kind of has traits of every type?

I might be misunderstanding the system so please correct me if I am but, I was reading the type descriptions and I was wondering like wouldn't everyone kind of relate a bit or have some traits of all of the types?

Like a lot of the traits are natural humans needs, desires and emotions that we all can experience.

But is what makes your type is a certain area of insecurity that develops in your childhood that stands out from the rest?

And does this same type stay with you forever?

Like I can go through periods where I'll relate and feel more like a different type but I'm still 6 core?

1st guy is Edgy Loser and 2nd guy is Repressed Nerd

some info on their dynamic below
- Edgy Loser hated Repressed Nerd upon first meeting them; thought they were performative and easily manipulated
- Repressed Nerd wanted to befriend Edgy Loser; "It looked like you needed a friend"
- Neither of them would have gotten close if not for sharing a dorm (randomly assigned)
- very different mentalities: Edgy Loser thought rules were made to be broken and was reckless while Repressed Nerd was fearful of punishment and embarrassment
- Repressed Nerd is more self-controlled and prefers routine
- Edgy Loser is more aggressive and prefers spontaneous experiences
- Edgy Loser helped Repressed Nerd get what they need from others; became an advocate
- Repressed Nerd helped Edgy Loser become more realistic and emotionally open; became a best friend
- both are considerably "laidback" and "chill", but Edgy Loser has more restless energy and Repressed Nerd can be uptight

Personal Growth & Insight Discovered I’m a sx6 after all these years

So I’m definitely a 6. Sx684 to be exact. I did not what to admit to being a 6 because I don’t consider myself a coward and I don’t consider myself an anxious person. I’m vigilant but not fearful. I hate the idea of people knowing my type and seeing that deep down im a fucking coward. I mistyped as an 8 for the longest time and later sx4. I also don’t relate to always being aggressive but I can come off strong when I don’t mean to. People perceive me as cold and maybe rude and blunt at times even when I’m trying to be friendly.

Every time someone said I should look into sx6 I got defensive. Before I would rather be any type but a 6. But I wanted to know who I really was so I just admitted to being a sx6. I still don’t consider myself a coward. I don’t consider myself weak like the stereotypes say. I don’t relate to being overly aggressive or anything but the descriptions say sx6 doesn’t realize their own aggression so meh. I don’t like being reliant on others like a typical 6 either. But I know it’s my type. Thats what I get for typing based on stereotypes I guess. So that’s my journey.

Type Discussion sx3 description is flawed

i wont provide a long arguement

curating urself according to what social sphere deems masculine/feminine is literally so instinct coded, just because the content of admiration changed to sexuality it doesnt make it sx, it is still social chameloning. It is just a specific way how so3 manifests

not to mention this description doesnt really resonate with the sx instinct

curating urself according to the object of ur sx instinct would be a much more reasonable description imo. As a simple example, trying to become what your crush likes

i barely know enneagram yet its so bs(i mean sx3 desc is the bs not the enneagram system) that even i can see the problem, or its actually not bs and my opinion is wrong cuz duh i barely know enneagram

i wont debate/respond cuz ima sleep but i would like some thoughts, bye
