My Reddit account is approximately five years old, and I've been able to initiate chats without any problems until recently.
Suddenly, after sending approximately one new chat request, Reddit started displaying the message that my account "isn't established enough" to initiate new chats.
Account Details:
- Platform: Android (Samsung)
- Reddit App Version: 2026.42.00
- Account Age: Approximately 5 years
- Contributor Quality Score (CQS): Moderate
- Email Verification: Verified
- Account Standing: No suspension or restrictions according to Reddit's official appeals page
Troubleshooting I've Already Done:
- Confirmed my email address is verified.
- Checked my CQS, which is Moderate.
- Checked Reddit's appeals page, which confirms my account is neither suspended nor restricted.
- Attempted to initiate chats through both the Android app and Google Chrome. Neither worked.
- Confirmed that I can still participate in existing conversations.
Expected Behavior:
I should be able to initiate new chat conversations, as I've been doing for years.
Actual Behavior:
Reddit prevents me from initiating any new chats and claims my account isn't established enough, despite my account age, verification status, and established history.
Request:
Could a Reddit administrator please investigate whether my account has been incorrectly flagged by the chat eligibility or reputation system?
This issue appeared suddenly without any apparent violations or changes to my account. I'd appreciate assistance identifying the cause and restoring my ability to initiate chats.
Thank you.
