I never thought I’d be posting on an forum for help.
I’m a single parent of two. We have fallen on hard times. Bills are paid thankfully. But we are scraping by when it comes to food. I went to two food pantries two weeks ago and that didn’t last us very long.
I’m looking to see if anyone has any additional resources or even any food that they don’t plan on eating if they could drop off to us a Walmart order anything we are struggling bad right now and I know I’m not the only person on earth struggling but I figured I’d reach out here for some help.
Thank you.

Why is it all of a sudden everyone is driving with high beams on. And yes, I know lights are brighter on newer cars, but I shouldn't see someone's front door with your car lights. If they go wider than the road or the little blue light on your dash is on, your high beams are on. And they are only necessary in the country where there are no street lights!!! And out of common courtesy, you should turn them off briefly when a car is coming in the opposite direction.
Let's just normalize driving etiquette again. 😁
Thats is all. Thanks

Last month I posted about weekend street racing in Greece and said I’d filed a FOIL request for the department’s enforcement records. The response came back, and here’s what it shows.
Street racing tickets
Greece PD has written one ticket for speed contests and races (VTL 1182) since January 2024. That was in November 2024. There were none in 2025 and none in 2026 through October 3.
Plans or programs aimed at racing
I asked for any directives, operational plans, special details, or grant applications or awards (including S.T.E.P.) related to street racing, speed contests, or loud vehicles. The department’s written response: “The Department has no records responsive to your request... No such documents exist.”
Muffler and exhaust tickets
Tickets under VTL 375(31) went from 13 in 2024 to 63 in 2025, with 49 in 2026 through October 3. These actually increased.
Calls for service
I asked for racing and noise calls by month. The department said the request was too broad because those calls are logged under general codes like “annoyance” or “miscellaneous,” and invited me to narrow it. I've spent enough time on this, but someone should feel free to file a new request if interested.
Thoughts
Greece PD has the staff, technology and budget to address this, and it has done targeted enforcement before, most recently against car thefts. On street racing, the records show no plan, no dedicated detail, no grant and one ticket in nearly three years. I guess the place to raise it is with the Town Board at the 2027 budget hearing.

I’m not trying to upset anyone, I realize that there is a large population of people who need help and resources. My concern here is that everyday I pass several panhandlers on University Ave between winton and East Ave and they are getting very aggressive. Shouting and shaking their fists at motorists, approaching windows and getting in people’s faces, weaving through cars and blocking traffic. It isn’t all of them but it is nearly everyday common. Is this happening everywhere or is this somewhat isolated to the few individuals I see everyday?

I have been dealing with this little jerk for a week now. And I am about to cry out of desperation. Nothing seems to work!
He will look at the sticky traps and simply laugh and my stupidity for placing them. He was going on the counters and now since I started putting traps up there, he just won’t bother with them.
Will walk RIGHT PAST all kinds of traps, foods and poison. I have electric, old school snap, new modern ones… I swear I can hear him mocking me at this point.
I put sectors in my kitchen and he must be going under the stickies (no way he’s jumping OVER THEM, right?!) and just ignoring them. Last night we thought we had sectioned off where he was coming from and after this video, my husband saw him freely roaming the living room.
I need help, I am desperate. No idea is too crazy friends, give me suggestions.

I'm sure others are struggling, like I am, just by the day to day conversations I have with people in my same situation.
Are there any jobs hiring for evening - night jobs.
Looking for anything really as long as it's 5pm-6pm start to close.
I have experience in retail, food, serving, finance and senior living homes.
I have a well established 8am-430pm , sometimes 530pm mon-fri job with potential of working 8am-1230pm on saturdays only.
I need to fill the rest of my day with more work..
I used to juggle three jobs 5am-12am during the pandemic so a broad schedule doesnt bother me.
The only hard time I am having is I work in the village of webster but live out towards meigs street. I do have transportation but the drive is jarring sometimes.
Any suggestions?

In an effort to educate myself on my local candidates (including the NY 137 assembly district) I decided to visit their websites and compare policy goals and vibes. Meeks’s site was fine if vanilla.
However, when looking at Dave Ferris‘s site on my desktop I couldn’t help but notice the strange formatting at the top right, where a bunch of options are smushed together and on top of each other. The main page reads fine but if you can manage to click on “platform”, you’re taken to what is clearly a boilerplate page full of vague (and progressive?) platitudes.
But it gets worse! Scroll down and you’ll see testimonials from people who totally exist espousing the virtues of…Jordan Sterling? Who may or may not be running for mayor? Is this an alter ego? The Batman to Ferris’s Bruce Wayne?
I thought maybe it was simply meant to be looked at on my phone, and sure enough the “platform” option is collapsed into a hidden hamburger menu in the top right. I guess maybe that’s better if it’s harder to find. Additionally, there’s a logo in the top left that says “Political Campaign Pro”, which I can’t find any reference to, with poor contrast to the top blue banner.
Whether it’s WordPress boilerplate or a vibecoded site, I’m not impressed. If this is the effort you’re putting into running your campaign, how much can I expect you to put into your work in Albany?

I just got off the phone with RGE with a question about my budget billing. I spoke with a “person” but there was something off.. the voice glitched a bit, the cadence of their voice, the way they very quickly read a script that was as way faster than the other ways they spoke to me.. long pauses after I asked questions.. does anyone know if they’re using ai for customer service phone calls for things like billing? If im overthinking this.. this person was the most robotic human I’ve ever spoken with. (Obligatory statement that rge is the worst)

Hello all!! I made a comment on a post here about my mom’s pottery studio called TheStudio. A ton of people have reached out for the info for our place and since making friends can be hard as an adult I figured I’d put a bigger post here to invite everyone to come meet some new faces!!
Here is the link to our website!

So I bought an older house and not only have we found very old wiring in it but there is also just decades of adhoc fixes all throughout. Some googling says i can have a built house rewired? a kind of start from scratch? anyone have any recommendations on who can do that in rochester?

For Halloween being a Saturday, I'm surprised I'm not coming across more events on the actual day. Am I not looking in the right places?
I am going to the Strong Museum of Play for the adult Halloween costume night on Friday though, and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Hi all! I was hoping to make a printed photo book (kinda like from Mixbook etc.) but was considering ordering it through Scott's to support a local business. Does anyone have any experience printing a full book through them? Anything I should know? I'm slightly concerned about quality since there don't seem to be many of review of their photo books out there.

Hi everyone, I recently moved to Rochester and I’m in the market for some friends! I’m 19f who loves almost any type of craft, nature, movie, or anything whimsical! I have 2 cats and live with my boyfriend of 3 years. I’m really hoping to find a gal pal who will hang out with me and talk about life. I’ve tried meet up.com bumble BFF and all the other ones, so I’m hoping Reddit works! Feel free to dm me or reply to this!
