General Steam Next Fest & demos

Hi all! I wanted to make this post since Steam Next Fest is now in full swing, and I want to set clear expectations for r/playmygame.

I'm seeing a lot of people posting on this sub to self-promote, hoping it'll boost their standing in the Steam algorithm.

First, let me remind everyone of the purpose of the sub:

"A place for indie developers to share their freely playable games for feedback!"

This sub exists so you can find playtesters to try your prototype, tell you what's working (or not), what bugs you may have missed, etc.

It is not a sub for self-promotion (with an exception for Trailer Tuesdays). If we suspect your intent is to advertise, your post will get removed. Repeat offenders will get banned.

A quick reality check, and why self-promo doesn't make sense here:

  1. With 4,400 posts in the past 30 days, that's about one post every ten minutes. The odds of your post getting seen in the first place are pretty small.
  2. There are other subs that are better suited for that. They exist to advertise your game. r/gameDevPromotion is one.
  3. Other devs, generally speaking, are not your target audience. They may put in 15 minutes to help you out, but it rarely converts to sales.

Let's give developers who actually need playtesting the visibility they need, so when you need feedback on your new project, it's easier for you to get it as well.

Good luck with your demo, everyone.

If you are BRAND NEW to Reddit and want to post or share your game, read this beforehand!

Hi new Redditor! We're excited that you want to post about your game and have people play it. However, there's something you should know before you do.

Reddit will ban you if your first few posts/comments are links to somewhere.

Reddit has a robust, over-exuberant filtering system, necessary but for groups like this, it can be a slight pain. When you post your game and it's your first post, Reddit ASSUMES FIRST AND DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS LATER! You will be automatically shadowbanned, which means unable to post or even potentially comment.
Then we get a lot of posters coming to us in Modmail, asking " Why did my post disappear?" Nearly all Modmails are about this issue, roughly 3 a day.

Reddit is also a bit secretive about certain processes - how to get un-shadow-banned is not even really known to be possible. We don't see the record of shadowbanning at all so unless we know of the name and check it regularly, we wouldn't see it un-shadow-banned. We don't know how long your account needs to be open or how much Karma needs to be on it in order for the Filter to stop paying attention to you but we suspect around 100 Post and 100 Comment Karma.

So, if you are new to reddit and want to share your game - DON'T! Not yet, please go post cool/helpful/ positive comments and posts in other groups. Playtest other people's games here and comment on them prolifically. Once you have some "Reddit Post/Comment Karma" under your name first, THEN post your link to your game! You'll be less likely (but not immune, never immune) from being shadowbanned that way for sharing your game.

Edit: If AI recommended you post your game here....Don't Yet until you've developed your account as a good karma community member! This really isn't a "post and ghost" platform, it's community-first. AI doesn't realize this about Reddit.

P.S. This group is 100% responsible for getting accounts banned (when you don't do the steps above) but it's literally out of our control to reverse. So please....don't modmail us unless you KNOW you are not shadowbanned, you have the required karma, and yet your post is not showing up. Only then we can be of some help.

Game Title: Artcat

Playable Link: https://kisiou.itch.io/artcat

Platform: Web browser (desktop and mobile)

Description:

A while ago my 9-year-old daughter told me about a game she'd love to play: you're a cat with a little art studio, animals come in and order pictures, and you paint them for coins. So I made it for her. She loved it, and honestly I liked the concept so much myself that I decided to take it a bit further.

Artcat is a cozy pixel-art painting game. A client walks into your studio and shows you the picture they want. You paint it cell by cell with the paints you have, and you get paid by how closely it matches the order. A perfect match earns three stars and a very happy client. Between days you spend your coins on furniture to make your studio cozier. Every day brings new clients and bigger canvases.

Free to Play Status:

[x] Free to play

Involvement: I'm the solo developer. I designed and built the game based on my daughter's idea, with a lot of help from AI tools, both for the code and the art. In the future I'm thinking about replacing the graphics with hand-made ones.

Game Title: RakuWorld Survival

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5382580/

Platform: PC (Steam)

Description:

Hi! I'm Seto, an indie game developer and creator of RakuWorld Survival!

RakuWorld is a co-op survivors-like game where you can draw your own hero using a simple in-game drawing editor. Even if you've never drawn on a computer before, there's a guided drawing mode to help you get started!

Once you've created your character, you can choose a class, unlock weapons, use special powers, and unleash ultimate abilities while fighting against waves of enemies.

The game combines paper cut-out and crayon-style characters with a charming retro PS1-inspired 3D world. You can play solo or with up to four players, locally or online, and your custom-drawn hero travels with you into multiplayer sessions.

My goal is to bring creativity and imagination into the survivors-like genre, allowing players to become the heroes they imagine.

RakuWorld Survival launches in Early Access on Steam on October 31!

What would you draw first? 😄

[PC] (Web) I made a physics sandbox where you can build pretty much any vehicle you can imagine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Game Title: Terrahaul

Playable link: https://terrahaul.certe.fi

I've been working on a game called Terrahaul, a physics-based sandbox where you build your own vehicles and whatever strange mechanical contraptions you can come up with.

The main idea is to build your own machines from scratch. You can combine beams, wheels, motors, axles, springs, hydraulics, and other mechanical parts. Everything is physics-based, so your brilliant designs might work perfectly... or collapse spectacularly.

There's also more to do than just building. You can explore alien planets, collect crystals, and mine minerals using lasers. You can then use the resources you've collected to build even better machines.

The game is still in active development, but I've reached the point where I feel it's ready for people to start playing.

Singleplayer is completely free, runs directly in your browser, and requires no installation. Multiplayer is available to Patreon supporters to help fund development. There are persistent multiplayer planets where you can build and explore with your friends (or steal your neighbor's vehicle if you're not feeling particularly friendly).

How to play:

Once you're in the game, start by following the tutorial.

  1. Move the camera using the middle mouse button. Notice how the building grid rotates to align with your camera view.
  2. Follow the tutorial. It shows you which buttons to press and what parts to place on the grid. You can place beams and axles by dragging on the grid with the left mouse button.
  3. Test your vehicle by clicking the "Test Drive" button. If your vehicle moves or steers in the wrong direction, you can reverse the sliders or motors in the part settings. Just select the part using the "Select" tool.
  4. Explore the planets! Once you've got your vehicle working, try taking it to one of the alien planets. Explore the terrain, collect crystals, and see what challenges you can overcome with your creations!

I'd love to see what kinds of machines people come up with!

Thanks for checking it out!

[PC] (Web) I made an online ski racing game where you play as cute animals doing cool tricks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Game Title: Skibidi

Playable Link: https://play.skibidi.stream/?ref=reddit

Platform: Browser (Windows and Linux downloads are on the start screen, also free)

Description:

it's an arcade downhill ski racer. you pick one of 6 animals (fox, bunny, penguin, polar bear, red panda, frog) and race down a run with kickers, rollers, moguls and shortcut chutes. tricks off the jumps (spins, flips, grabs) give you speed if you land them clean, you can draft behind people and slingshot past, and you can throw snowballs at whoever's ahead of you

there's a knockout mode where the last rider through each checkpoint gate is out, 6 down to 3, then the last three race to the finish. you can race bots solo or go online with up to 6 players, there are a bunch of different mountains to race on, and there's a locker with gear and name borders to unlock

no account needed, you just start playing. google sign in is only there if you want to keep your progress

if you're on a PC I'd honestly recommend the desktop version. it runs a lot smoother and looks way better than the browser one, since the browser has to use godot's lighter renderer with no anti-aliasing and simpler lighting. the browser version is there so you can try it in 10 seconds without installing anything. the video was recorded from the desktop version on max settings

stuff I'd really like to know:

- did the controls make sense in your first race or did it take a while

- does knockout feel fair at the gates or does it feel cheap when you go out

- how it runs for you, browser or desktop + what GPU

any feedback helps, even "this sucks because X"

Game Title: Kiss or Kill

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4676960/Kiss_or_Kill/

Platform: PC

Description:

A branching romance thriller set inside a deadly holographic dating show. Raise Heartflutter Scores, protect your group, and survive seven days of eliminations.

Kiss or Kill is a branching mystery visual novel set inside a holographic dating show where a low Heartflutter Score can mean execution.

Two hundred contestants are divided into groups of one woman and three men, then forced through a seven-day romance experiment. Every day brings a new challenge, a new score, and a new risk of losing someone.

Doki, the show's adorable retro robot host, delivers every judgment with a smile.

Heartflutter Scores are calculated from the contestants' real physiological responses.

Choose one person for a date, and another may be left behind. Raise one score too quickly, and someone else's may fall. Keep your group's emotions in balance—or watch the day's lowest scorers pay the price.

By day, you take part in dates, rehearsals, and staged romance challenges.

By night, you investigate what the cameras are hiding.

[PC] (Web) [Web] Bounce Beasts – you don't fight the monsters, you throw them into a pinball board (free, 8-min prototype)

Game Title: Bounce Beasts

Playable Link: https://marihugames.itch.io/bounce-beasts (plays in the browser, no signup; Windows download on the same page)

Platform: Web (browser), Windows

Description: Monsters line up on a shelf and you fling them into a board full of pegs. Every peg hit costs them 1 HP, and a big chain is the whole fun: in testing a chonky one bounced 38 times in a row. If a monster lands alive, it climbs back up, bites you and rejoins the line hurt. Between levels you place special pegs (fire, spring, bomb, zap and more). The top rows are rock, so you build lower down and have to aim your throws to reach your own pegs. 10 levels, about 8 minutes, mouse only, English and Simplified Chinese.

Free to Play Status: Free

Involvement: I'm the solo developer. Code and text were AI-assisted; visuals and sound are generated by code.

I'd love to know: did you get the goal in the first minute, did you start a second run on your own, and where did you get stuck or bored? "Copy play code" at the end + a comment helps a lot.

Game Title: ZeroMargin

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mintwave.zeromargin

Platform: Android

Description: ZeroMargin is a reflex and timing game built around one question: can you stop a clock at exactly 1.000 seconds? Tap to start, then tap anywhere on the screen to stop on the target. Choose 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 seconds, or any custom target up to 60 s. You see exactly how many milliseconds off you were, and a stop within 15 ms grows your streak. A perfect 0 ms gets confetti.

Timing is fair on any phone. The score uses the touchscreen's own timestamp for both taps, taken on touch-down, so screen lag and slow frames cancel out.

Free modes: Classic, a Daily target that is the same for everyone (3 attempts, with a streak), Infinite Loop (tap on every whole second while the clock runs), Bot Duel at three difficulty levels, and Pass & Play for two people on one phone. You climb ranks from Bronze to Zero based on your best margin, and there are achievements and stats. An optional one-time Pro unlock adds Blind, Moving and Gauntlet modes and removes the ads.

I'd love to know: is 15 ms a fair "hit", and which mode would you come back to? Post your best 1-second stop in the comments.

Now i have built some more useful apps too which have actual paying customers and some more fun and engaging games in the pipeline.

[Mobile] (Android) [Android] Polarity — a puzzle game where positive and negative cubes collide

Game Title: Polarity

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.softpin.polarity

Platform: Android

Description:

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on my own puzzle game called Polarity, and I'd love to hear what you think!

It's inspired by 2048, but with a little twist. Instead of just combining numbers, you have positive and negative cubes. Cubes with the same polarity combine to increase their value, while cubes with opposite polarities can cancel each other out when their values match.

The goal is to plan your moves carefully, create combinations, and keep the board from filling up. It starts off pretty simple, but things get more challenging as you play and try to find the best moves.

I'm still looking for ways to improve the game, so I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a try and shared your thoughts. Is it fun? Are the mechanics easy to understand? Is there anything you'd change or add?

Any honest feedback is welcome. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to check it out! ❤️

Description:

It's a PvP auto-battler where you draw your fighters yourself — mouse, pen or finger. In the age of AI slop, no generator is doing the drawing for you (okay, maybe the creatures look worse that way, but they're yours).

  • Pick one of three lanes and draw a creature.
  • The game recognizes the shape: eight legs → spider, wings and tail → dragon, staff → mage. Unrecognized scribbles become "Mishaps", and they fight too.
  • Press Summon and your drawing runs into battle by itself. Save it in a Q/W/E slot and re-summon it as your ink refills.
  • Destroy the enemy seal before yours falls.

Game Title: Cat Caffeine

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5065450/Cat_Caffeine_Demo/

Platform: PC (Steam)

Description:

Cat Caffeine is a desktop companion game where you run your own little cat café right on your desktop! It's designed to keep you company while you're working, studying, or just doing other stuff on your PC.

You can decorate your café, arrange furniture, hire cats, unlock upgrades through a perk tree, and, of course, pet your cats (very important). As your little business grows, you'll unlock new ways to customize your café and make it more welcoming for your furry customers.

Also such things as: in-game phone where you can read reviews and critiques from your cat customers, complete decoration tasks to attract reviewers, and a Pomodoro timer that lets you use the game as a little focus companion while you work.

The idea is to create a cozy little space full of cats that you can enjoy without having to stop what you're doing on your computer.

**Game Title:** Chevrette

**Playable Link:** https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chevrette.app

**Platform:** Android (please add the flair after posting)

**Description:**

Chevrette is a light daily-habit game for Android. Every day you open the app, claim your daily points and keep your streak alive. The longer your streak, the more you feel the pull to come back tomorrow.

What you can do inside:

- **Daily streak:** one tap per day to keep your streak growing.

- **Country Race:** pick your country and help it climb the live standings against players from around the world (Nigeria, India, Vietnam and Indonesia are already competing).

- **Daily Word:** one new word puzzle every day, quick to play and the same for everyone.

- **Galaxy:** every player gets their own star in a shared galaxy that you can explore.

- **Daily Rewards and Invites:** small bonuses for coming back, and a referral section to bring friends along.

Sessions take about a minute, so it fits into a coffee break. Points in the app are only for the in-game leaderboard and have no cash value. There are no energy bars or paywalls.

I would love feedback on the daily loop, the Country Race and the overall feel of the app, especially on what would make you come back on day 7 and day 30.

Game Title: MAXIMUM!

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mohbi.maximum

Platform: Android (Google Play)

Description:
MAXIMUM! is a side-on cricket game built for quick sessions on your phone. You play with one thumb: drag to aim the bat, release to swing, and try to time the ball into the boundary zones. Every delivery varies in pace and bounce, so no two balls feel the same.

There is a Daily Challenge where everyone gets exactly the same deliveries, so scores are comparable between players. There is also an endless ladder of levels with a boss level every fifth one, and the bowling keeps getting faster and more varied as you go. Boundary streaks light up the bat, sixes show how far they carried, and you can charge a power ball for a big hit. There are coins, boosters, trails and a character editor to customise your player.

[Mobile] (iOS) Dhaba Dash: free desi cooking game, Overcooked-style co-op with up to 4 players (iOS)

• Upvotes

Hi all! I'm an indie dev and I made Dhaba Dash, a cooking game set in a Pakistani dhaba.

The story: Ammi has run Khan Dhaba for thirty years and has 30 days to pay the rent. Her four kids come home to save it, one plate at a time.

What you do: Cook and serve real desi food (chai, samosas, pakoras, chaat, biryani, karahi, nihari, tikka, lassi) under time pressure. Ammi calls out the orders in Urdu from the rail.

What's in it:

- Story mode: 30 kitchens across 2 acts, with a third act on the way

- 2–4 player online co-op: share a 4-letter code, no accounts or sign-up

- 4 playable chefs, each with their own skill tree

- Dress-up outfits, including free Diwali ones from 30 Oct

- Free, no ads, and everything can be earned by playing

I'd really like honest feedback on:

  1. Is the difficulty right?

  2. Does the co-op feel fun when the kitchen gets chaotic?

  3. Are the controls clear (tap a counter to pick up or put down, or use the joystick)?

iPhone and iPad (App Store): https://apps.apple.com/app/id6809183633

Android is coming soon.

Game Title: Wyrmdoku

Playable Link: Not open on Playstore yet, Currently in Alpha testing > DM or Join Google group to receive it

Platform: Android

Description:

🐉 Deep in the caves, dragons sleep in their burrows. Your task: find them all, with nothing but logic:

Wyrmdoku: A dragon-hunt logic roguelike 🐲

Put a ✕ where there can be no dragon, and claim a dragon if you're sure. If you gamble wrong, it will cost a heart.

A NEW HUNT EVERY RUN
• Ten floors, and at each fork, choose your path: dragon caves, Elder caves, the merchant, a campfire, or something unknown.
• Primordial caves and wyrmthrones guard every half of the descent. On a throne, the wyrm awakens as you think, so keep moving.
• Dangers change how you think: pitch-dark caves, winding tunnels, mirror caves, twin nests, extinguishing torches and more.
• Optional bounties in each cave reward a clean or fast hunt.
• 15 events: a dusty coffin, a pale stranger, a wishing well, a rival racing against you...

RELICS AND HUNTERS
• 20 relics change how you hunt: a lantern that safely lights a box, a thread that betrays a dragon's row, rewards for sequences and more.
• Four hunters, each with their own strengths. Collect hero fragments to unlock them.
• Bring the coat of arms of each hunter of Wood to Legendary mastery.
• Survived the wyrm? Descend into The deep, as far as you dare.

EVERY DAY
• The Daily lair: one fast cave against the clock, the same for everyone. Hold your sequence and share your time.
• The Daily Run: A full run with the same caves for each player.

MAKE IT YOURS
• Themes that give the entire game a different look, and board styles with proprietary lists, ✕markers, and claim effects.
• Wrath levels for when the caves become too easy.

HONEST AND FRIENDLY

[Mobile] (Web) Fairway Tales

Game Title: Fairway Tales

Playable link: https://kralnu90.github.io/

Platform: Mobile iOS & Android

Description: Fairway Tales is a free golf RPG you play with one thumb, right in your phone’s browser.

You start as the newest member of Ashby Green, a sleepy country club with a grumpy champion and a lot to prove. Win there and the road opens up: the windswept Gullhaven Links, the sun-baked desert resort of Sun Mesa, and finally the snowy peaks of Frostpeak, where the Winter Open and a tour card are waiting.

The swing is simple to learn and hard to master. Swipe down, pause, swipe up, and the game reads your whole stroke, so a wobbly thumb will slice it. Add spin, read the slopes on every green, and the swing gets tougher as your handicap drops, with bigger rewards for better players.

Along the way you’ll face 16 rivals, collect and level 44 clubs, and tune them with heads, shafts and grips. When you want a break from the story, sharpen up at the practice ground, build your own holes, or send friends a challenge link to play the same pins and wind on their own phones.

No download, no ads, and it’s free to play.

Platform:

Web browser, mouse or touch. No camera required.

Description:

Yantra is a contraption puzzle where you repair a broken machine and try to guide the balls to the goal. Each puzzle gives you loose parts to work with. Drag them into position, rotate them, and press Start to see what happens. If the balls spill, change your arrangement and run the machine again. Fewer spills earn more stars, and clearing a level opens the next one. There are 70 levels across five worlds. The puzzle is in how you arrange the parts before letting the machine run. You can play with a mouse or touch controls, directly in your browser, without installing a game or using a camera.

[PC] (Web) I'm building a new 2D space MMO with a grind you can actually fall in love with. No Pay-to-Win dread.

Game Title: Orbital Blackout

Playable Link: https://orbitalblackout.com

Platform: Web / Browser (Desktop recommended)

Description:

I got tired of modern multiplayer games feeling like there's no purpose, no satisfying enough grind, and too many veterans being annoying.

So I made something new.

I pour a lot of effort into building Orbital Blackout—a real-time 2D space MMO crafted to give players a deep progression loop they can actually fall in love with grinding.

It combines elements rarely seen together in one place:

- Fast, Skill-Driven Dogfighting: Real turret arcs, manual boost, and tactical seeker missiles. How you fly matters just as much as what you fly.

- A Rewarding Fleet Ladder: Start in a nimble scout and work your way up to hulking battleships and dreadnoughts.

- Deep Socket Fitting: Choose from a growing selection of equipment for you hull. Customize lasers, guided torpedoes, shield generators, thrusters, and autonomous combat drones that fight at your wing.

- High-Stakes Salvage: When your ship dies, it's gone. Destroyed ships leave physical wreckage in space with unbanked loot waiting for whoever secures the wreck first.

- Extraction-like Banking: You must deposit at a safe station in order to keep what you fought for.

- Decrypt Mysterious Tech: Hunt rare alien anomalies to decrypt modified, one-of-a-kind hardware you cannot buy in any store.

- Your Own Starbase: Carve out a private sector base to refine materials and expand your personal fleet foothold.

- No Pay-to-Win: Flight time and combat skill decide who survives. You cannot buy stats, damage, or power.

- Instant Browser Play: Runs directly in your browser with fast netcode. No client downloads, no launchers, no waiting. You can test fly straight from the homepage without registering.

-With much more new ideas to come!
