Just to be clear, this is the result of over an hour of struggling to take the console apart without damaging it. Unfortunately, the solder joints gave up.

BTW, I still can’t get the processor off the heatsink.

I bought a controller from a guy who insisted the controller is 100% original. I mean, it was a pretty genuine looking controller. So I bought it and the analogs were funky. Then I decided to open the shell and saw this abomination. Thankfully, I was able to return it and get my money back. Still, it was the best fake controller I've ever seen. Buttons were responsive, the only problem was the analogs.

Hello! I went to CEX today looking to get a new game but they didn’t have it in stock! I looked to get a new one and found infamous! I have just been playing the intro and it’s amazing! What are your opinions on the game in 2026? Should I get infamous 2?

This trip was never supposed to be a PS3 hunt it just ended up that way… I overpaid for GoW Ascension on day 1 for a copy that had some humidity damage ($650NTD / £14 ) which I thought was good considering a UK copy is £30-45 for the steelbook. Then I found a better copy for like $300NTD, alongside Asura’s Wrath, Lollipop Chainsaw both for $300NTD each! Everything here was about $6000NTD total, $1800 of that just being from Strider which was a the only big purchase. W Taiwan.

Also, if anybody has info on the Dante’s Inferno copy I have that would be great, I can’t find anything online. I also have the Infamous Collection which has a sealed Infamous 2, and originally had the platinum Infamous 1. I assume that wasn’t how it came, so I just swapped it for a regular version. I don’t think it matches with the Infamous 2 copy but still. So if anyone has info on how that set was supposed to come as well, that would be helpful also.

Recently purchased this absolute unit of a PS3 with 2 controller for £400 and couldn't be happier. It's an original Sony Frankie with additional user maintenance. Grabbed myself a copy of folklore also with an mclassic and an audio transmitter for my beyerdynamics using a fiio btr17. Still needs some road testing but hey.

The snakes nest is just me testing everything works, am trying to find a logistical way to neaten everything up haha.

Give me more recommendations of games, I want to extend my PS3 collection please.

Hello, i attempted a delid on my fried ps3 chips. i wanted to ask if i did i great job here, since i already bought a refurbished ps3 and in the future i wanted to delid that too.

After waiting a month and a half my game from Italy FINALLY arrived. I now have all 4 games made by The History Channel

I used to play Gran turismo with my kids.

I can't wait to play again.

I left this PS3 unplugged for over a year with a random DVD in it and hooked it up last week. Been playing it, putting various DVDs and blurays in to watch. So today I put in an anime I haven't watched in at least 2 years, and when I start it up it immediately goes into the episode I left off on. my dedicate BR player can't remember even a single disc back and the PS5 I think only remembers 2 discs back. I never had a PS3 as a kid but I'm really appreciating it now that I have one

They were in a broken case before, found the cases and moved them to the right place. There was some games from our mom's house too but this is only the stack where we had the disc at our dad's house. Also i have the normal edition of Skyrim at my mom's house. So bye bye!

I tested my CECHA01 2 months ago, before it takes 3-5 boot attempts to enter stable xmb, it instantly crashes whenever I hover at a game, and play one, after testing it again 2 months later it cant even enter xmb, and even if it did, it cant hold it for long.

I dont know if I should rule out RSX-related or PSU issues, since I rarely gamed on it and stored it on my closet, and I havent noticed any artifacting or display failures to be as such, as well as random crashes before the first ylod appeared 2 months ago.

I haven't and coudnt try getting syscon as I haven't started modding it, so im stuck at guessing if its a Tolkin or RSX issue

I also own the drum set, 2 guitars and microphone for guitar hero world tour but they are in my basement for the next Birthday party and didnt make it on the picture.

I’m glad I finally tear down this beast and replace the thermal paste next time I will remove the Ihs plates and replace the paste under it too but it’s much quieter than before so I’m happy and sorry I know it’s not the best picture but happy ps3 day guys.

Ok so as title suggests, what next?

Fans on dynamic, rsx overclocked amd works real well games dont have many slow downs anymore, console stays around 65c but fans seem to get to around 40 ish % so may need to delid as it already has new paste on the heat spreader.

Really want to dump games onto an external hdd so i can give some of my mates games back like demons souls and ratchet and clank trilogy.

What is needed, like just the bare essentials for me to back my games up to my external hdd and then be able to play them off hdd?

People are saying webman, multiman, irisman, and prepiso, its all so confusing as some places say one thing and others say another, then ai pops its head into every fkn search ans says a different thing every search so fk that guy am i right.

hello everybody! as the title says, i am currently shopping for a ps3. originally i was looking specifically for the ones that are backwards compatible with ps2 games, as i have many ps2 games that i'm dying to play/replay. however, i saw some people say that those were not gonna necessarily last very long. what is your opinion? what is the best ps3 model to buy in 2026? thank you everyone!
