Discussion Snarf’s Sandwiches Rant
Am I missing something? I paid close to $30 for two sandwiches and they had a tip jar sitting next to the register.
The sandwiches were good but definitely not $30 for two good. Plus that cost didn’t include chips or a drink either.
And to charge that much for a sandwich and still ask for tips at a place where you walk up to the counter, seat yourself, grab your own sandwich when it’s ready ?
Just wondering if there’s some story here that makes them justify the cost? Are they sourcing the best ingredients or something? Are they baking the bread themselves in the back?
What am I missing here?

Politics Concerns about ballot being scanned correctly.
I voted earlier this week (Denton county) but I’m wondering if there’s any way I can verify the paper ballot was accurately counted. At my voting location, you fill in the squares on the paper, then feed it into the machine. But it only says “Your vote was recorded successfully” without any confirmation of what the machine recorded.
I fill every square, corner to corner, nothing outside of the square so nothing can be misconstrued about how I voted. But… I still don’t trust the Texas government not to mess with our votes. I wish I had verification that it was counted correctly.

Question Does anyone remember the metal band Sureburn from Dallas?
Does anyone remember the metal band Sureburn from Dallas? They played around during the early 2000s in that metal scene. I'm a big fan of a lot of those rap metal Dallas bands. I was searching for a copy of Sureburn's album to get it archived, but I've talked to multiple band members and they don't have any. Did anyone here have a copy they could part with or know where I could get one? Thank you, anything helps.

Discussion Parkland spent $1.5 billion in one year on care for people who couldn't pay. Here's what that means for Dallas County taxpayers.
Dallas County has one of the highest uninsured rates among big metro counties. Here's how that connects to the property tax line on your bill and who makes the decisions behind it. No candidates or endorsements, just the numbers. Sources are in the comments.
EDIT: Lots of great comments. To clear one thing up: nobody here is saying don't help people without insurance. We already help them, and we already pay for it, mostly through local property taxes. Parkland spent $1.5 billion in one year on patients who couldn't pay, and its share of the tax bill on the average Dallas County home is $869 this year, up $47.
The point is that there's a cheaper way that Texas leaders have turned down: Medicaid expansion. Washington pays 90% of the cost permanently, and the state pays 10%. A Texas A&M study estimated it would bring about $5.4 billion a year in federal money to Texas and cover roughly 954,000 people, who could see a regular doctor instead of waiting for the ER.
Our federal taxes already help pay for expansion in 41 other states. Texas is one of 10 that said no. That decision is made by the Texas Legislature and the governor.

Event Can’t believe I missed The Prodigy at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend
They were part of the Sick New World festival. I guess System of Down, Deftones and Slayer were the headliners and they were buried down in the luneup.
Still did well(nsfw).
Anyone here make it to the show? How was it?

Has anyone been to Sherlock's Escape Rooms Dallas in Farmers Branch? I have done most of the recommended rooms at The Escape Game, The Perfect Escape, and The Secret Chambers. I plan on visiting Quest Room in Plano too in the near future. Open to any other suggestions!
