Advice Is this an error 1942/1 coin?

Check these r/coinerrors resources before posting:
JUST BECAUSE A COIN LOOKS DIFFERENT DOES NOT MAKE IT AN ERROR! Please take some time to understand how minting errors occur before you post your question! The mods try to be lenient regarding rule #1 (Do your own research.) If we keep seeing too many posts with pictures of obviously damaged coins, we will be forced to start removing them.
OUR HOBBY - Be aware that most errors don't add much (if any) value to a coin. You aren't going to find a coin worth life-changing money in the cup holder of your mom's minivan. This is a hobby which is research-oriented and concerned with understanding and cataloging interesting mint errors and varieties. It is not primarily about value. The existence of errors and varieties provide valuable insights into mint operations and processes. The hobby is CERTAINLY NOT about the TikTok-fueled "ZOMG!!!1! This RARE coin is worth a Squillion Dollarz!" clickbait frenzy. That mentality is NOT welcome here.
NOTE - posts of coins which are clearly just damaged may be removed. This isn't meant as punishment for an honest and innocent question - but rather because many members of this sub tend to be harsh to new collectors. By having your post about a damaged coin removed, you still get your "is this an error" answer, hopefully without being downvoted into oblivion.

We have been seeing a massive influx of posts with asking about "dryer coins" as well as coins with heat damage.
We love the fact that you noticed your coin is "different" - and applaud you looking into it! For the uninitiated, these are reasonable questions - but many members of our community are getting tired of them. We ask that you please use the resources we provide before asking this subreddit (See Rule #1!)

The rim of my coin is raised up OR the edge of my coin is flat OR my coin is too thick!

My coin has bubbles / bumps / craters below or on the surface

These issues are damage - and extremely easy to diagnose.

New to looking for errors and I came across this coin, any thoughts on the extra rim?

The distortions seem raised, but the coin is pretty worn. The damage isnt directly opposite each other too. Maybe got caught in some kind of machinery beaten until weird?

Came across this guy in the wild - obviously, cos there ain’t no buying or selling him - and a friend and I are in the middle of a debate. There does seem to be some chemical corrosion around the edges of the coin and they think it’s clear evidence of PMD. I think it resembles several verified examples of Grease Strike Errors to the 2006 D Nickel. I’m not denying the chemical corrosion is evident, but neither the rim nor the lettering on and reverse are in any way affected. It also weighs a perfect 5g. So…pure PMD in the form of chemical corrosion, or GSE with a touch of PM chemical pitting? Would live your thoughts.

I can imagine scenarios of both happening. Is there a way to tell?

Couple of die chips on hat, a die Crack through of, and a Possible DD Reverse. I can't tell if it's lighting and angle or actually doubled.

Hi guys,
I have learned a fudge ton about coins in the past few months and it’s become the most incredible hobby of mine. History in general!
My query is based on most of what I’ve seen in all of my potential double die coins that aren’t on the obviously doubled side.
On double die varieties, such as those listed on coppercoins/wexler’s, I often have so, so many coins that fit perfectly with the doubling (words/date/bust) pictured on the websites. However, I fail to find most, yet SOME of the die markers/scratches/etc that are shown to compare varieties.
With late-stage dies being a thing, is it possible for certain die markers to totally disappear over time and make it nearly impossible to distinguish the varieties? How WOULD you best distinguish them with minimal die markers?
Thanks guys.

For context, this is a 2005P so obviously I know it's not the speared bison, but perhaps a "wounded" variety? I've looked at what others claim to be the rear wounded, but this one just looks a little different.

I collected some Kennedy’s in the early 2000’s, and just looked through a box of random graded Kennedy’s, and this was inside. I do not remember buying it, but assume through eBay. Question is, is this something the employees did on purpose (meaning there could be a lot of them), or is it more rare? Why would the Mint save these, just for collectors?

Looks like small texts and maybe a tiny number 9 by the top mark, just never seen anything like this before, can anyone help?

Found this 1940 S nickel today and I saw that theres some lines on it that are raised so just was wondering if this could be a possible die crack or not

I have this 1917 with the most aggressive Streaking/Woody look I’ve personally seen.

I purchased my first cap and rays peso, and it arrived in the mail today. I didn't notice the lack of detail on the bottom right of the coin. I am just looking to see what everyone's thoughts were on this as I haven't seen a BU coin just missing detail before.

Looks like little letters to me ? Just confused, can anyone help??? Google didnt lol
r/coinerrors • u/idk785696 • 2d ago
I found the coin in a coin roll. Some letters are visible on the messed up part on it.
r/coinerrors • u/Slowbro08_YT • 2d ago
I found this dime in my change and noticed a slight spread on the letters, most notably on the N of ONE DIME with my loupe. Pardon the quality, my camera is terrible the more zoomed in it gets. I’m unsure if it’s MD or an an actual DDR
EDIT: accidentally put DDO instead of DDR in the title
