There's been a lot of feedback from the community about the flood of people asking what either an XJ/MJ they're looking at is worth or what they're selling is worth. Please post that here. Anywhere else on the subreddit will result in removal.

Headlights very dim

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi, our 98 XJ lights are so dim it’s hard to drive at night. I am not a mechanically savvy individual and we also live in NYC so don’t have the space to work on the car myself/explore this issue. Anyone have experience dealing with resolving this or have a trusted mechanic who can help in the NY area?
Car runs great and we love it, just want it to be safe and last forever. Looking for any useful info on what this issue is called/what the fix would be so i can find someone who can help me get it fixed!

Rear main seal - never ending problem

Post image

Hi guys,

I took down the oil pan like 4 times now, thought first the oil leak came from the gasket but that did not solved it until I decided to change the rear main seal, and it stopped leaking for a week and now I got the oil drop again .

Do you have any recommendations at all for this? How to stop it?

I replaced the seal with the felpro one everyones recommends.

Question Wiring harness upgrade, K Suspension vs Big7Kits/JeepCables and why?

Hi all, question pretty much in title. The K-Suspension upgrade is $25, while the Big7Kits (formerly known as JeepCables) is $95, and I’m not quite sure why. Is one drastically better/worse than the other?

I do have the stock fog lights and saw that big7kits offers the “fix” for the typical high beam issue with the upgrade, while k-suspension just gives the instructions, but is that alone worth ~$70?

Thanks in advance!

Help with multiple doubts found today in my jeep.

Today I spent a couple of hours checking my 1997 jeep, and I found a couple of situations and I need your help, the first one I noticed that the gas pressure on the injector rail drops quickly after turning off the switch. The other fault is a hose that was leaking and I have no idea where it goes. Finally, am I listening to the fuel pump charge like when you open the switch without starting the engine, but loud enough to listen to it with the engine on, am I normal or is it related to the former?

1997-99 Strange carpet hole under bench seat?

Hi all, pictures included but I’m stumped on why there would be a carpet cutout here. It’s a 1998 Classic trim if that matters. I can’t really see anything under here, except for some heat tape? No rust holes that look patched, that I can tell at least. Help? Bonus random fuse loose under there?

2000-2001 2000 Sport, want it to be an overlander, but has some rusted spots.

Picked up my 2000 Cherokee Sport less than 30 days ago, 225k on the odo. I've been keeping a running list of repairs and parts to replace, and the rust is the thing that worries me most.

Plan is camping and fishing trips around the PNW. No wheeling at all, I just want it to get me to nice places reliably for a long time.

The rusted spots honestly look pretty small, but there are a lot of them, and that's what stresses me out, especially 2 of them that are pin-holes on the fender and the rockguards. There are a few more all over, but many of them are surface rust caused by small scratches. I don't really know how to approach it yet. Leaf springs are rusty too, but I'm already swapping those for OMEs soon anyway, on my lift kit.

How would you tackle it? Is this something I can handle myself with wire brush, converter and undercoating, or is it worth paying a shop for a more comprehensive work? And is it a red flag for long-term overlanding, or pretty normal for the mileage and the wet climate here?

Trying to figure out where this leak is coming from ?

After a couple days of sitting and a little rain I get a puddle formed same spot. For some reason it looks like a little coolant is in it because of a green tint. But it’s really just water leaking out. Doesn’t smell funny or anything. Once I drive and park up I come back with no leaks under my jeep. Anything helps ?

ಠ_ಠ Where can I find subtle clear/smoked LED tail lights like these for a Cherokee XJ? Any recommended websites?

I know I can just type this into Google and get a few options, but I'm specifically looking for a site or specialist store that might offer different smoke percentages, where I can actually compare how dark or transparent they look side-by-side. Something a bit more professional or easier to browse through to compare options properly.

After seeing all the posts here about low oil pressure at idle and high temps, I just want to make sure I'm good.

Edit: Guys, it's a joke. Calm down.

Adding 12 volt outlet

Want to add a cigarette lighter in the back of my 1996 xj. Sick of buying ice on camping trips, so i was going to put a camping fridge in the back.
Was wondering if it would be better to wire it through the relay/circut strip from the engine bay. Or should i do it a different way?
My friends 99’ had two, one that was always on and one that would be on when the jeep was running.
Was hoping i could add one thats always on but with limited draw so it wouldn’t drain the battery if the jeep wasnt on for a couple days.
Has anyone done this or know of a link that would help me out?

Question Leaf Spring Recs?

Looking for a new set of leaf springs to replace my tired old sagging ones

96 Cherokee

Pavement Princess / Daily

Its a 2wd RHD mail jeep, it'll never wheel, the only mud it sees is the work lot lol

I don't currently have any plans to lift it, being RHD it seems to be a hassle so it doesn't feel worth it at the moment.

From what I've seen OME is the go to on this sub, I just wanted to get some specific opinions before I make plans on getting a set.
