Hi, I'm a freshman in SCS trying to figure out my spring schedule. People are generally saying to choose 15251 if you're doing better in concepts and 15213 if you're doing better in 15122. I think I usually like application slightly more than theory, but I'm also doing slightly better in concepts than 15122, so that kind of cancels out. I've also heard that 15213 is more helpful for finding internships, but am not sure if taking it now or closer to when I'm actually finding internships would be better considering I might forget some content. All in all I'm very conflicted.

Would love to hear insights on this!

Hi everyone! I wanted to post on here to say I lost my car key. It likely fell near West Circuit road, from the Westinghouse memorial near Frew street, or somewhere on the first floor of Baker Hall. If anyone finds it (a black Subaru key with a silver key ring), please let me know! I have already took a thorough look myself and at CUC lost and found.

What are the easiest Tepper required classes I can take to keep the GPA up? Or gen eds that count toward graduation

I’m an incoming international student. I’m coming into Tepper. I’m kinda interested in Quant so obviously BSCF (computational finance) is the obvious choice. Of course that is super selective. So firstly how do I apply, what is needed and if I don’t get into what are the alternate options for quant? Many thanks

Can anyone who has done the 15-445 CRI share what kind of question was asked? Did they focus on P2 exclusively, or were P0 and P1 also covered? Would really really appreciate it!

Hi!

I am planning to take 15-110 next spring, and I am wondering which professor students have had the best experience with. It looks like the instructors offering the course next semester are Kelly Rivers and Francesca Xhakaj.

I have some experience in programming already, so not everything will be completely new to me. However, coding is not really my most favorite activity and sometimes I struggle with understanding concepts. Which professor is better at explaining/is more patient if you need repetition?

Thank you!

Has anybody ever had her, and if so, how was your experience? Couldn't find much on her for 21-241 specifically, but read good comments about her for 21-254 so wondering if I should apply them to 241.

Just out of curiosity

I am applying to ECE ED and since the school of engineering is test flexible, I was wondering if I should submit my SAT. I got a 1480 with a 780 math and 700 reading and writing. I have CAIE A level results which are substitutes for the SAT and I did much better on those. I don't think test flexible makes the same assumption as test optional that if you didn't submit, you got a really bad score. Should I submit the SAT or not?

I am not an international applicant.

Edit: My A levels were CAIE maths, further maths, and physics which I finished in one year and got all A*s in.

so i love cmu but idk what major i wanna do 100%. leaning mechE rn but ECE also seems so cool

i saw some information online that saws sometimes transfering to ece is blocked or really really difficult.

mainly asking cuz i wanna ed cmu

How competitive is engineering compared to computer science or humanities?

Edit: Let me clarify that I am asking how competitive CIT is to get into compared to other schools such as SCS or MCS. I know that CMU itself is extremely competitive. Also, I plan on going to grad school but I want options just in case I don't.

Full pay but no hooks or anything like that.

Hey athletes, I’m very interested in sports analytics, especially soccer, and I’d love to help one of our varsities with video or data analysis in my spare time(e.g. building up event-level datasets, analyzing footage, creating visualizations...)

-Does your team currently use Hudl (or a similar platform) to review footages of games and practices?

-What kinds/levels of stats or data do you use?

-How does that feed into training or game preparation?

I'd also love to know whether your team now has student analysts or staffs who specifically help with analytics I can reach out to

Thanks!

is there a whatsapp group for spring 2027 admits?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if any current SCS students went through the Viva interview/process as part of their undergrad admissions and would be willing to share their experience.

What was it like?
What kinds of questions did they ask?
Any tips for someone preparing for it?
Does it even give an advantage?
What happens if my VIVA goes bad?

Really appreciate any help! Thnx in advance

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone here interviewed for Deloitte’s 2027 Functional & Operations Strategy Summer Scholar position.

I had my first-round interviews on Tuesday (10/20), and the recruiter mentioned we’d hear back about second rounds in roughly a week.

Has anyone received an R2 invite yet? Also curious how long it usually takes to hear back.

Thanks!

anyone had experience in repairing Mac laptop near CMU? Mine had water poured over the keyboard and cannot boot anymore. Thanks!

What kind of Ec’s does CMU IS department like to see? Also do they take into consideration that I have a lack of resources as a fgli student?

I know this question has been asked to death but I just wanted the most up to date information. As far as I know, it's much more common for PhD students to get funding but I was wondering if there was a possibility for master's students too. I'm planning to apply for Fall 2027 but I don't know if I should without the possibility of funding. Also, would it be helpful to reach out to professors beforehand, or am I not supposed to? Any help would be appreciated.

International incoming student from the UK here. Wanted to ask what the social scene at CMU is like? Is Pittsburgh a good city? What is there to do around campus etc?

$31 is diabolical if anyone wants to get rid of theirs for cheaper happy to by 2 or more!
