Soergel's is a 0 out of 10 experience
My family loves fall and going to pumpkin patches. With the closing of Schram's a few years ago, we have been going out to new spots every fall. Out of every farm we have gone to, I have to say that Soergel's was the most disappointing.
It took forever to park. The lines for everything were so long. We gave up trying to get coffee. There were no carts to buy pumpkins. It was just sooo crowded that I regretted we went at all.
Unless you are someone that wants to wait an hour to park or 45 minutes to get a coffee, I'd recommend going somewhere else.

Vows found outside The Oaklander Hotel
I found these red velour-like "His Vows" and "Her Vows" books on the Lytton Ave side of The Oaklander earlier today. I turned them into the front desk. Chris and Angela, I hope your marriage isn't forgotten on the sidewalk!

Loving Pittsburgh as a Transplant
Pittsburgh is friendlier than I was expecting.
Thank yall for being a city that was so very welcoming. Extremely new to city life and Pittsburgh in general. I'm from more rural Pennsyltucky. Busses are next to nonexistent where I moved from along with accessibility to doing basic life needs.
The bus system yall have was my major concern but those of yall who use it were so very helpful and kind to me when I asked what went where. On top of how to use the bus app. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
As someone who is also autistic and easily very over stimulated, yall have amazing and cute little shops tucked away to escape for brief moments from how busy downtown can get, with such very welcoming shop owners and workers. Yall were even happier and more than ecstatic to recommend shops and districts to visit.
As I was walking around I found myself near one of colleges, you college kids definitely got me feeling my age. Regardless of that, it was extremely clean and very presentable, hell most of what I saw was a very clean and presentable city. I never would have expected.
Back to all the walking I did, rarely did I have to find a path. The sidewalks are so very accessible even when I accidentally in some neighborhoods. Speaking of, yalls neighborhoods are so well kept and beautiful looking. I felt so safe to be here and be me. Yall even decorate so beautifully too.
So thank you to all yall Yinzers for making me feel welcomed for the first time in my life as someone who is newly transplanted here. I'm excited to see where your city takes me in life and I hope to pay it forward with all the love and help I received.

What's that smell in the east end this morning?
There's been a terrible chemically smoky smell and fog since last night through this morning in Swisshelm Park, Wilkinsburg, Swissvale, Squirrel Hill, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if it made it's way elsewhere. Anyone know what's going on?

Hyehold Chef’s table experience
Has anyone in this sub done the chef’s tasting at Hyehold? I’m thinking about it for my 10 year anniversary but I want to get an idea of how much it’ll be and how long we should expect to be eating. Their menu looks amazing but we’ve always wanted to do a tasting menu somewhere

Girl Scout Popcorn Fundraiser $20 a bag
It's wild to charge $20 for a 5-ounce bag of standard flavors (e.g., cheese, sea salt).
I was happy to see a non-cookies fundraiser but was caught off guard by the price. I know better now and next time, I'll prob just keep on walking or make a small donation instead.
Just thought I'd put this out there so you're prepared if you see a table.
Edit: I understand that it's a fundraiser and people largely view it as a donation. And truly I think if it had been phrased as "suggested donation," I would have had a different reaction. I posted here not to knock kids or their efforts but to help others be more prepared than I was.
Edit: Seems like it was Boy Scouts (not Girl Scouts) fundraiser. The table I shopped at was staffed by girls, so I must have just assumed that it was a GS fundraiser. Either way, too expensive IMO.

has anyone seen Ginkgo nuts fruiting in Pittsburgh?
galleryHello, I’m helping organize an event around the gathering and processing of ginkgo nuts later in November. For some reason I haven’t seen any on the trees much less the ground. It has been a weird year for any plants and fruits this year so I’m wondering if there’s been a delay everywhere in the city.
I know the nuts usually inspire many complaints due to their smell. If you’ve come across any strong smelling nuts that look like these images could you message me their location?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: thank you already to folks who have mentioned places they’ve seen the nuts. While tree locations are helpful I’m specifically asking if you’ve seen the seeds on the trees or ground. Thanks again!

"Showtime, Y'all can't stop me"- Help Finding Local TV News Story from 2010s
While living in Friendship in 2015-2017, I remember watching a local news story about a preteen boy taking a family member's car on a joyride. Pittsburgh police found the kid in the drive through at the East Liberty (Penn and Euclid) McDonald's: pictured.
My friend and I still think and talk about the story often because, according to the news report, the child said "Showtime, y'all can't stop me!" and started running when the cops showed up, but the cops caught up to him after a few seconds.
I can't find the story when I search Google News, I've asked AI. I've checked World Star, which I think had aggregated the story. I don't think the story was an Onion-type satire. Does anyone know the story I'm talking about? It is my white whale.
Update: Solved, thank you
