US Iran-War [Day 141]

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

To the girl’s parents

2 weeks ago, i took my daughter to a play area at city center. We were in the queue waiting for our turn and i saw this 8-9 yr old girl hanging around at the front of the queue. When it was our turn, she was still standing there. I asked the lady how much it would cost for an hour to be in the play area and she said xyz bhd and some additional amount for the card. The little girl heard this and she tapped my leg and said excuse me, if you want you can use my card and that way you wont have to pay additional for the card. It was really sweet of her and I thanked her, honestly it wasnt about the money, but i felt so warm and i want to thank the girl’s parents for bringing up the girl with utmost love , warmth and values. Pretty much what you need the most at this point of time in the world.. to be kind..

🤔 Discussion Mother seeking similar cases: Jaafari court custody for a boy over 7

HelloI - ’m a mother whose young son was taken by his father. The Jaafari court has given custody to the father, and it seems to apply the law as written for boys over 7 without looking at how the child is doing. My son is very unhappy where he is, and it burns my heart.

I’m looking for:

  • Any example of a Jaafari ruling in a mother’s favour for a boy aged 7 to 15, especially one based on the child’s wellbeing.
  • Advice from anyone who has been through something similar.
  • Contacts in women’s rights or activist groups who support mothers in custody cases.

I know this may not be the right place to ask. Please don’t suggest getting a lawyer, as I already have one. I just want to hear from people in a similar situation. Thank you.

Hello,
Is there a couture/shop in Bahrain that its owner and staff kindly welcome people to try on wedding dresses even if they are not willing to buy? Because I want to try all the styles first without being pressured to buy nor to be a burden to those shops staff. I want to take it as a fun experience too with my friends.

🤔 Discussion Did People Forget How to Be People?

• Upvotes

I’ve been through a series of circumstances that have crippled my life since the days of COVID. Medical issues, financial struggles, and, inevitably, the psychological toll that came with them. Some of these battles are still ongoing.

However, things are no longer nearly as crippling as they once were, and I’ve been trying to reintegrate myself into society. And let me tell you, it’s been anything but a walk in the park.

What really caught my attention, though, was the realization that I wasn’t the only one who’d been subjected to such a drastic change. Not even close. What genuinely shocked me was that it wasn’t just a minority of people who’d changed. ALMOST EVERYONE HAS!

I can at least attribute much of what I’m going through to the sheer magnitude of the life-altering events I’ve endured. And trust me when I say this, they were SEVERE! But everyone seems to have changed!

People have become increasingly oversensitive, easily offended, and far too willing to walk away from everything and everyone at the slightest inconvenience. Initiative seems to be a dying virtue, social skills are seemingly in decline, and almost everyone appears to be carrying some form of psychological baggage.

What the actual fuck happened to the world?!
Is this Gen Z’s influence on society, or have we somehow found ourselves living in a post-apocalyptic world without anyone bothering to inform us?!

Fined BD25 for LED fog lights on a used car. Can it be cancelled at the Traffic Directorate?

Bought a used car 4 months ago. The previous owner had fitted aftermarket LED fog lights, and I didn’t know they weren’t allowed. Got fined BD25 at a traffic stop. They’re complete LED units, not just bulbs swapped into the stock housing. I honestly had no idea they were an issue, and they dont glare into the eyes of oncoming car.

I’m going to the Isa Town Traffic Directorate to show I’m fixing it and ask them to cancel the fine as a first offence, without filing a formal objection.

Has anyone had a fine cancelled this way? Who did you speak to?

🤔 Discussion How do expats marry here?

I know dating has been abused in this sub for millions of times, but I'm really serious. How do I (expat, non religious, no family or relatives) look for my life partner here?

People may say something like "show up" and "go to events", yes great but can you provide examples where to go? I feel very isolated and lonely here, I have limited Arab connections (I'm Arab), I know only home, work, restaurants & hypermarkets maybe (raised here but introverted family)

I am sincerely looking for a marriage (no hookups please), but I don't know what exactly to do or where to start? I see many people get some chances from Masjid/Ma'tam but I'm not religious so this is not gonna work for me. Any help?

TIA

📢 AMA I analyzed 2,181 Bahrain job listings from the last 90 days. Hotels posted 1 in 3, and none of their 694 listings showed a salary

Tanqeeb is a job aggregator: for Bahrain it shows listings from Naukri Gulf, Bayt and GulfTalent (three Gulf-based boards, 97.8% of listings). I collected every Bahrain listing it showed for the last 90 days (Jul 26 to Oct 25, 2026), 2,181 in total, and looked at who posts them and what they disclose.

1. Hotels: 31.8% of listings

Marriott brands alone posted 15.6% (Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Westin, Sheraton), then Accor and Four Seasons. Only Jordan had a higher hotel share among the 11 countries I've looked at so far; Qatar is level with Bahrain.

top employers

2. Salaries: 5.7% overall, 0 from hotels

124 listings show a salary. Of the 101 in BHD, the median is 475 a month (10th to 90th percentile: 165 to 2,250). Not one of the 694 hotel listings shows pay.

salary shown, by board

3. Other things that stood out

  • Recruitment agencies posted 12% (VAM Systems, Dolphin Manpower, Propel Consult).
  • Some "Bahrain" jobs aren't in Bahrain: Hilton Luxor (Egypt) and Four Seasons Riyadh posted 28 listings labelled Bahrain.
  • 97.8% are labelled Manama, because all three boards file Bahrain jobs under "Manama". On listings with exact locations, Manama is about 59%.
  • Sunday gets 11 new listings a day against 27 on Tuesday, although it's a working day: the biggest board posts mostly Monday to Friday.
  • "Information Technology" is mislabelled: half of its listings are hotel jobs (baristas, lifeguards, chefs).

Limits: listings on one aggregator, not all jobs in Bahrain. A missing salary does not mean a job is unpaid. No personal data was collected.

Source: public listings on bahrain.tanqeeb.com.

Question for people working in Bahrain's hotels: is pay usually discussed only at the interview stage, and which sites do you actually use to find jobs?

☝️ AskBH Anyone here going to Underground Gym? Looking for advice before starting my Fitness/weight loss journey

Salaam Alaykum, Hey everyone! 👋🏼 😄

I'm looking to start my weight loss journey and have been considering joining Underground Gym. I've seen them helping people get fitter over the years, and it seems like a place that could help me get started on the right track.

Before committing, I'd love to hear from people who have trained there or are currently members.

I have a few questions:

Trainers: How good are the personal trainers? Are they helpful with beginners, especially people who need to lose a significant amount of weight? Do they actually guide you properly, or are you mostly left to figure things out yourself?

Facilities and equipment: How's the gym in terms of equipment, cleanliness, and overall facilities? Do they have everything you need for a proper workout?

Nutrition and diet: Do they help with nutrition, meal plans, and figuring out what to eat, or is that something you have to manage separately?

Atmosphere: What's the vibe like? Are people friendly and welcoming, or does it feel intimidating for someone who's just starting out? I'd especially appreciate hearing from people who joined as beginners.

Pricing: Is it worth the money? Are their trainers and facilities worth the price, or are there cheaper gyms in Bahrain that offer similar or even better value?

My goal isn't just to join a gym, work out for a few weeks, and give up. I genuinely want to make a lifestyle change, lose weight, get healthier, and stick with it this time. I know I'll need guidance, consistency, and a good environment to make that happen.

I'd also love to hear from anyone who's been through a similar journey. What worked for you? Would you recommend Underground, or is there another gym in Bahrain you'd suggest for someone in my position?

Bonus question: Would anyone here be interested in becoming gym buddies or accountability partners? 😄 It would be nice to have someone to share the journey with, motivate each other, and make sure we actually show up instead of finding excuses!

I'd really appreciate any honest experiences, advice, recommendations, or even things you wish you'd known before joining a gym.

Thanks in advance, everyone!

🤔 Discussion what's up with education in bahrain

Salam,
I am a middle school boys teacher working since 2023, and I want to share my experience since I started working.
I graduated in 2022, and I got into teaching early 2023. at first, I was at a high school, things weren't easy, but the students weren't that difficult to deal with, with a little bit of practice, you get the hang of it and it was pretty fun.
after that I was sent to a middle school later that year, and it was the worst year of life, everyone was telling me that it gets better with time, but fast forward almost 3 years, while I am now more capable as a teacher and got used to it mostly, I don't think things are getting better overall, not for teacher, not for students, and here's why i think that. and just to be clear, I'm not generalizing my experience there are more than a hundred school in Bahrain and ofcourse not all of them are like the one I work in.

  • Students are not getting any kind of real accountability, not on tests, workbook, their behavior, or anything that they need to take accountability for. and the parents don't help with that either.
  • workload on teachers, Teachers are tasked with so much work, that we need a break from work, to do work. and in some cases, things that should've gotten easier because of technology are ignored and we had to do them the old fashioned way.
  • teachers are expected to just get better, there are many programs designed to trained teachers, and they are often effective, but without the right environment, not many teacher will be able to use this training in the classroom.
  • classes are getting more cramped each year, when i was in school, classes didn't have more than 33 students, now I would be happy to teach in a classroom with less than 35. and we are expected to give care to each student.
  • lack of motivation, In the beginning of each year, students take a Placement Test, from the 160+ students I teach, can you guess how many of them got a grade over 60. exactly 1 student passed the test. no one wanted to even try proving their abilities.
  • general societal ideas, a lot of parents and people don't have faith in education, could be because they see others or themselves without a job or for any other reason.

I can go on forever with the problems I and other teachers face, but my point is, how did we get here? and why no one is doing anything about this?

I thought about leaving this job many times too, but having a family and knowing how bad the job market here, It's not the best idea right now, so please make duaa.

A genuine question about tarot reading and its acceptance in Bahrain

Hi everyone!

I visited Manama for a business trip a while ago and spent around two weeks there. I genuinely enjoyed my time in Bahrain. The people, the atmosphere, and especially the lively downtown area left a really nice impression on me.

I’m from Malaysia, and I practise tarot reading, mainly focusing on relationships, personal reflection, and helping people understand their emotions and situations from different perspectives.

I’m curious about how tarot is generally viewed in Bahrain. Is it considered socially acceptable, or is it a sensitive topic because of the local culture and religious beliefs?

I’m not here to promote my services or debate anyone’s beliefs. I’d simply like to understand the local perspective better, especially from people who live in Bahrain.

I appreciate any honest insights or personal experiences.

Thank you!

🤔 Discussion Looking for side hustle/passive income investment opportunities

I’m a fintech professional working with a leading fintech, based in Bahrain and have reasonable savings as well as spare time.
Now I’m very much interested in exploring opportunities where maybe I can invest or do something for passive income.
I would very much welcome suggestions/opportunities here. 🙏
