About 2 years ago when I came out he told me that he would never call me by my new name or think of me as anything other than his son. It tore me apart and our relationship hasn’t been the same since. We talk occasionally but nothing more than a simple “How’s it going”. This is still a far cry from him fully accepting me, but it warmed my heart a little anyways.
