Groups for sexual assult survivors??

• Upvotes

Hey so im new to the area and looking for a support group for women who have been sexually assaulted.

So far ALL of the organizations I've called or contacted online are either no longer running, at capacity, or it's like $100 per session.

I do have insurance but haven't found a group that will take it.

Wondering if anyone knows of anything in the area or anywhere in nyc. Doesn't have to be professionally led. Mostly looking to talk with a group of women who understand.

Obnoxious run club with their own DJ on the back of a Jeep

Anyone else see this run club running through Williamsburg with a DJ blasting music out of a Jeep?

I get that run clubs are a thing now, but do we really need a mobile nightclub rolling through the neighborhood, blasting music and slowing down traffic?

Williamsburg Greenpoint Monthly Meet Up: 10/29 @ Maracuja 630pm (3 Years!)

• Upvotes

Hello hello! For those looking to meet locals and build community in the neighborhood, swing by Maracuja this Thursday. I know it can be hard to make friends as an adult, so I wanted to facilitate people meeting in real life.

This month I'm celebrating my 3rd year of hosting these meetups, and it wouldn't be complete without our incredible sponsor, BonBon providing candy!

Come alone or bring a friend, I promise everyone is friendly!

About me: I’m 34F, been in Williamsburg for 5+ years. I like pickled things, my kickball league, board games, Georgia football, ceramics, reading, live music, anything sustainability related and of course, meeting new people.

This month will be at Maracuja.

Day: October 29th

Time: 630pm - 9pm ish

Can't make this one, but interested in future ones? I started an instagram or you can subscribe to the lu.ma calendar (no newsletters, just these events).

Leave a comment below if you’re interested in joining. Hope to see y'all there!

McClure’s pickles in WB?

My gf picked a jar up from an UES store a week or two ago. They are the best pickles I have ever had. Anyone know if I can get these somewhere in WB, preferably on the north side of the neighborhood?

Hello good people of ~ East ~ Williamsburg. There is a dog that lives in this radius that barks all day and night from a yard/outside area. It's absolutely incessant and as cruel to the dog as it is to the neighbors. If anyone has any intel on the exact location/owner, please PM me as I'd love to send them a polite letter or offer to walk the damn dog or something because I'm losing it.

Edit: Wits end** This dog is getting to me lol

PSA A Moderator of r/Jewish Offered to Moderate r/williamsburg, Then Threatened to Report Our Community When Asked for Evidence

I've been on Reddit for a long time, and this is genuinely one of the most absurd exchanges I've experienced on this platform.

A moderator of r/Jewish contacted me unsolicited, claiming that nearly every post in r/williamsburg contained blatant antisemitism and offering to help moderate our community.

When I asked for specific examples or links supporting those accusations, none were provided during our exchange. Instead, the conversation escalated into personal insults, questioning my competence as a moderator, and ultimately a threat to report our subreddit to Reddit administrators.

But I want to make something absolutely clear, because this is far more important than any disagreement between Reddit moderators.

Williamsburg belongs to everyone.

I grew up in New York City, surrounded by people of different religions, cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic, and everything in between.

I have tremendous love and respect for my Jewish neighbors, just as I do for my Muslim neighbors, Catholic neighbors, and everyone else who makes New York City the incredible place it is.

It doesn't matter what religion you practice, where your family comes from, what you look like, whom you love, or what you believe. You are welcome in our Williamsburg community.

And I want to emphasize something that should be the foundation of this subreddit:

WE ARE ALL EQUAL.

Not one religion above another. Not one ethnicity above another. Not one group of New Yorkers more deserving of respect, dignity, or a voice than another.

This subreddit should represent free speech, fairness, open discussion, and mutual respect. People should be able to express different opinions and challenge ideas without intimidation.

That freedom also comes with responsibility. Antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, religious hatred, and harassment have no place here. Genuine violations should be reported and addressed fairly.

If someone identifies discriminatory content, I welcome specific examples so they can be reviewed appropriately.

What I will not accept is pressure to hand over moderation influence through sweeping accusations, personal insults, or threats of administrative action.

To be clear, this is about the conduct of one individual moderator. It is not an indictment of r/Jewish or the Jewish community.

I'm sharing the screenshots so everyone can read the exchange and form their own opinion.

r/williamsburg is a community for everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, race, nationality, sexual orientation, or personal beliefs.

Moderation decisions should be based on fairness, evidence, and consistent application of Reddit's rules—not religious affiliation, outside pressure, or personal agendas.

That's the Williamsburg I believe in. That's the New York City I grew up loving. And that's the community this subreddit should always represent.

We are all equal. Every single one of us. And that principle is not negotiable.
