News New WW2 Dutch Resistance Minis - Also useful for Pulp/Modern Civvies & Investigators

My most researched project to date has gone live. Twenty brand new hand sculpted miniatures based on real people from the Dutch Resistance in WW2. Hand cast in single piece pewter.

I've gone for a bunch of different types of civilian resistance, so while there are some with guns, there is a photographer, a tailor, nurses, preachers and even a landlady. So even though I got obsessed with the Dutch Resistance, you can use them in a whole bunch of different games as civilians, gangsters, investigators and more.

I'm based in Nottingham but ship worldwide! I can update this thread with more information and answer questions and such if you'd like. I've been around as Bad Squiddo Games for nearly 12 years, all all the previous Kickstarters went smoothly, so I'm for sure not some rando!

I’ve been a casual fan of Destiny for many years and was looking for some models I could use in miniature agnostic wargames like 5 Parsecs From Home. Found these Vex models from Skullforge.
Any fans of the Destiny game? Also, I know Sony put the game on life support but glad they opened up a ton of content.
What other games would you use these in?

Question Looking for Space Ship Fleet Battle Game

• Upvotes

Hi there! I was curious if anybody could point me towards a type of game I’m looking for. I really enjoyed Star Wars Armada but unfortunately that game is dead and getting expansions for it is difficult. I am curious if anyone knows of a wargame with the following:

- sci-fi themed fleet battles with capital ships and fighters

- plays on a hex grid

- has firing arcs

- is easy to purchase

I have recently picked up the starter set for ‘Leviathans: The Great War’ and it pretty much scratches this itch I’m looking for, I just don’t LOVE the theme as much as a sci fi game. Before purchasing a bunch more of stuff for that game I want to make sure there isn’t an alternative I am missing. Thank you all so much!

Question Fun mech wargames besides battletech?

• Upvotes

I’m interested in seeing more of what there is to offer, I love battletech but expanding my horizons is always appreciated. Alpha strike doesn’t do it for me.

im open to all sorts of scales, styles, and sizes. As long as there’s mechs I’m Gucci.

Where do you go when you are burned out on this hobby?

• Upvotes

I think I may just be growing out of my hobby. I've been collecting and painting miniatures for a decade, but the hobby hasn't really brought me joy in over a year. It may be time to take a break or even retire from miniature games for a bit.

What are some other hobbies that could scratch a similar itch that I can explore?

I like art and computers. Thought about getting into game design, but starting off is daunting. Then again I could go very traditional and try painting a canvas Bob Ross style. Though I am a bit low on funds at the moment, so whatever it is would have to be inexpensive.

Is there a wargame with a draft format?

Its just a thought, but did anyone ever make a wargame where rather then having full access to everything you have to build an army out of a random set of units? Think MTG where you make decks out of boosters.

I am thinking this would be neat to try, but also the physicality of a wargame might make the concept unworkable in real like. [Cards are cheap easy and need no assembly, but most mins are not that.]

Question Space Combat Wargame Recommendations

Hey all! I’m interested in getting into a space combat wargame. The idea of dealing with physics and inertia in space, plus those cool painted ships, has got me excited to jump in, but I’m new to the genre and I’d love some recommendations. Bonus if the game already has a decent sized community, I’d prefer to find people who already play instead of having to build the community for a super niche game. I have experience with Classic Battletech, Alpha Strike, Luna, and Blackout, if that helps. Thanks in advance!

Some maybe-not-so-old Enforcers for Necromunda '95 and some REALLY old Space Marines, now finally finished since I bought them in 1987 or thereabouts.

Not all of them have made it over the decades, but these are the veterans that did.

Beware of old men in a professsion where one dies young....

Work In Progress Fantasy Baseball Game seeking PlayTesters

Heya folks, a few years back I fell in love with Blood Bowl. But I’ve never really liked American football. I wanted a game based around Baseball, Softball or Rounders. Hey even cricket. But non existed. So…

I designed one. Batterball is a mix of all three ball and bat games. With a fantasy full contact twist. The goal is to make it fast paced and simple enough for a 10-year-old and their parent to pick up after one game.

The rules are currently in their Alpha 0.2 stage. I’m looking for Play-testers to join the discord and help make this game great.

It’s very early days. But I think this thing could be really fun. I even have idea on how to make custom player stat blocks which you could trade throughout a tournament for resources.

If you’re intrested please join the discord. And let’s organise some play tests.

Picked this up today for a great price and wondered if anyone had any advice for starting out: simple starter warband ideas, best scenarios for introductory games, etc?
