Hey Guys,
So we get tons of threads on interested buyers on Saabs is anyone willing to put in on a guide with the things to look for/look out for in future ownership. Especially since we have tons of intermixing of knowledge bases from 9-5s to 9-3s to Classic 900s and everything in between.
-As a side note I have no problem giving advice I quite enjoy it but would make it easier for new Saabophiles

I have a 2000 Saab 9-3 with a B234. Under load if I give it anything past 80% gas it misfires and pops and bangs from the exhaust. Nothing comes up on OBD-II and I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and found a fix.

Rare Saab Turbo 18â Alloy Wheels â Set of 4 â $1,200 USD
Rare set of 18-inch Saab Turbo wheels for sale. These came off my car, which was written off following last yearâs hailstorm.
A great opportunity to pick up a rare set of Saab wheels that donât come up for sale very often. These would be an excellent candidate for refinishing to bring them back to their former glory.
Details:
* Set of 4 Saab Turbo 18â alloy wheels
* Original Saab centre caps included
* All 4 wheels are straight
* No repairs have ever been done to any of the wheels
* Cosmetic wear present; ideal candidates for refinishing
* Winter tires currently mounted, but tires will be removed unless the buyer is interested in purchasing them as a winter tire package
$1,200 USD
Iâm not in a rush to sell, so Iâm happy to hold onto them until the right buyer comes along. These are rare wheels for Saab enthusiasts looking for an original set to restore or refinish.
Message me if interested. Serious inquiries only.
Please confirm fitment for your specific Saab model before purchasing.

I have a 9-3 2004 B207L reprogrammed for ethanol. Some days there is no engine light and no limp and some days there is a fixed light and a limp mode but to a certain speed and then the car takes off normally. so the only problem is being too slow from a stop but other than that it drives normally. I filled up with 95 the other day but same symptoms. What should I test/check for? thank you for your help!

Automatic pre facelift 9-5 Aero, rare car and a rare spec. Black heated and cooled leather seats, one owner for 20 years before me with loads of history, like most old cars it needs bits and pieces to be perfect but it's a good example of a really rare car.
There is an oil leak mentioned on the MOT so I had a look underneath it and it's the actual sump plug so I would guess someone forgot to change the copper washer when the oil was last changed.
I have had this for a year and only covered about 5000 miles, it's on about 185k now and it runs really well, it pulls hard under load, it's a really nice car.
It has premium tyres all round as I don't run cars with cheap tyres. The Continentals on the rear have covered about 2000 mikes maybe less.
It won't come with the roof bars or roof box.

It is a 2003 Saab 9-5
Can someone advice me?

As the title says. I own Saab 9-3 1.8t 2002 (it's gen II), and it has strange and big issue.
Main symptoms: missfires, lots of unburnt fuel from exhaust.
Now about how it gets more complicated - alongside to the main symptoms, there is clicking noise from ECU, when engine is turned off, and hissing sound from around vacuum pump/injectors when it's running and unstable. OBD II tool shows no codes except from missfire, broken lambda probe behind the cat (I'll fix it eventually) and too high voltage. I checked, the voltage is too high by 0.07, so it's marginal. The most important thing - no code hinting what could it be. Next thing - it all is stabilizing at higher rpm's, from around 2500 and higher it's as if nothing was wrong.
Also, the fuel level sensor is broken, but this broke long time ago, idk if it's related, honestly doubting it, but who knows.
The stuff I did to the car not that long time ago - new vacuum pump seals, new power steering seals, new battery, new spark plugs, new engine and balance timings, new water pump, regenerated clutch, cleaned MAF sensor, regenerated turbo, cleaned intake manifold, installed ECU protection spacer, new coolant reservoir and I think that's all the stuff that happened under the hood. Timings, clutch, turbo and water pump were done by the shop.
Now, I have a few possible ideas, but I still feel the need to hear what others think.
It could be ECU, but afaik there should be some obd code indicating it most of the time - in my case there is no such thing, that's why I think it might not be ECU. Not for sure, but it is just my intuition.
As for other possible culprits, I figured it could be - vacuum leak, faulty injectors, faulty fuel pump, faulty MAF sensor.
Now, I'm open for your opinions and ideas, help me save my baby đĽş

I'm going to check out a 2005 Saab 9-3 1.8t Linear tomorrow. It's the base trim with cloth seats and a stick shifter. The seller claims it has a full service history and has covered 153,000 km (95,069 miles).
If I buy it, I plan to refresh any ageing components that need replacing. I'd also like to get a Stage 1 remap to make it a bit more fun to drive.
This would be my first Saab, so I'd love to hear from people with experience owning or working on these cars.
A few things I'm particularly curious about:
Would you recommend going for it, or would I be better off looking for a different engine or trim level?
Any advice or ownership experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Recently discovered this Saab Original Towstrap bought from the SaabANA dealer in Trollhättan.
Still features the original warehouse location, never been used. This was an accessory that was available to be purchased seperately.
Any ideas of what it could be worth to an enthusiast?

Hey guys,
3 months ago I went from exclusively riding a motorbike all year around to buying a car because my job requires me to take 2/3 hour trips every now and then and in the winter months I stopped feeling my fingers after the first 30 minutes, and riding in the snow isn't great for my health either. Now, I've grown up with Saabs and always loved them. For me it was a pretty simple choice to get a 9-3 for my requirements, and ended up with a beautiful 3 door 2.0i. Apart from some pretty major unforeseen repair bills I've had nothing but joy from my new old car, but there's one teeny tiny first world problem that bothers me on these 2 hour trips, and that's that it doesn't have a proper cupholder in the front (it does have the little dimples in the glovebox but I think it just needs a little brake or turn to soak my glovebox and carpets in coffee if I put it there).
Now, I've looked around a bit online and noticed that there were some solutions to this, such as an aftermarket middle console with built in cupholder, or 3D printed solutions, but they all seem a bit out of place in my interior which I just cleaned up from the previous owners' air fresheners and bright flashing FM transmitter. So I'm wondering if anyone else has a proper solution to my very minor problem. It doesn't have to be a super cheap solution, I'd rather spend a few bucks extra and have it looking nice than have a cheap solution that looks out of place and/or breaks after 4 uses. Cheers in advance!

Hey everyone, I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 SE convertible (OG, manual) and recently had this happen:
Thereâs no check engine light, and I checked with an OBD scanner and found no codes. The service records also show that the fuel pump was replaced recently.
Has anyone experienced something similar? And is there any way to troubleshoot this issue?

As is well known, when Saab's designers were deciding what the Saab 90 should look like, they couldn't decide how to weld the Saab 99 and the Saab 900 together: the front from the 99 and the rear from the 900, or the other way around. In my opinion, the idea with the rear from the Saab 900 turned out to be the more successful one.

Iâm waiting at a Thai restaurant on the Rubenslaan in Utrecht and a 9-5 Estate with a dump valve just drove by. If itâs someone from here, care to share your specs?

Hi, I need help diagnosing my 2006 Saab 9-5 Vector 1.9 TiD diesel automatic.
After driving for around 7â8 minutes, I stopped and switched off the engine for 6â7 minutes. When I restarted and drove off, the car felt sluggish and accelerated more slowly than usual. After switching it off again, it would no longer start.
The starter turns the engine over normally, but the engine wonât start.
My battery was recently replaced. My Biltema OBD-II scanner worked about a week ago, but now it displays âLinking errorâ and cannot connect to the car.
Could you check the cause of the starting problem and why the diagnostic scanner canât connect? Iâd like a diagnosis and a cost estimate before any parts are replaced.
Thank you.

Hey guys just wanted to share this beautiful new paint job I got on my 2008 9-5 aero, the clear coat was flaking off so bad it almost was through the paint underneath to the metal. Maaco in San Jose California did such an amazing job if you go there ask for Steve! It was only 3500 dollars. Now I am into the precut ceramic window tint from tint effect to protect the interior. Trying to modernize and make this car last for as long as possible. (If you notice they accidentally painted the antenna but I think it makes the car look more modern)

Hey folks,
Iâm living in Alberta Canada. Winters can be rough out here.
I plan on taking my 9-5 off the road for winter. I will be able to access it and run it periodically if recommended. It had been in a warmer climate before this year so this is my first time winterizing it.
What suggestions do you have? My thoughts so far are:
-Remove the battery. Are there any security system concerns I should be aware of?
- Change into dead tires so it doesnât sit and ruin my summer set
- The windshield fluid is all deep freeze stuff so it shouldnât burst anything
- Run it until warm every month or two to keep things moving
- Fresh oil before putting away
- Covered under a car port
Is there anything else I should do? Recommendations?

Hi all, 2 out of 3 of the 12V outlets in my 9-3x do not work. The only one working is the dashboard one in the ashtray; the boot and the one in the storage compartment in the centre does not work, and the little green ring doesn't light up either.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I've checked the fuses (Fuse 10 and Fuse 22 which apparently relate to the 12V cigarette lighter outlets) but both are intact.
Any suggestions appreciated.
