I am located in Ontario, a couple hours away from Toronto but willing to travel for a good home
I am currently taking care of two young dumbo rats that are very friendly, affectionate and playful. They are females and their names are Winter and Luna!
They were given to me by my aunt who purchased them as pets for my cousin but no longer wanted to care for them. This is the second time she dumped a pet on me because she knows I love animals and will always take them in 😕
I do everything I can to meet their needs like giving them outside cage time, cleaning after them, etc. but I am quite busy as a nursing student so it has been very difficult to balance everything in a way that’s fair for them.
I love them very much and have formed such a strong bond with them. They crave human attention so much and it breaks my heart when I have school and work all day and can only spend so much time with them before I have to sleep for my early morning classes ☹️
I’m looking for someone who is passionate about rats, that will give them a lot of attention and take good care of them in general. Thank you all for reading

Mrs. Boy actin a foo during intros. She wasn’t moving or visibly breathing. Turns out she was just conked out. Rats acting dead should be illegal

Meet Zwinka, our little surprise baby, who decided that unlike her sisters, she had no intention of growing past the adorable baby stage.
She's less than half the size of her siblings, but she makes up for it with extra agility and boundless energy!

It was the first moment Cursor and Toz greeted each other. They've become quite close now!

The only hiccup in these intros has been Rogue picking on Trill, but her big squish of a boyfriend protects her by putting himself between her and Rogue until Rogue calms down.

I’ve recently started having rats, 4 months ago and rescued 2 terrified girls, I’ve been building trust with them since then, lickable treats, little pat on the head, having them in the room with me while ect, one of the them even started climbing on me and exploring around the cage. But I absolutely can’t touch them for more than a sec or even pick them up. I’ve seen online that 2 rats is the bare minimum so I started looking for more. Found a breeder that handle the babies since birth and took 2 little girls home. For now they are in their own cage cause i wanna give them time to be bigger so they can defend them self ect when introduced. Since the first rat i got, I searched online for building trust with traumatized rats, all the tricks and advice where the same. But when i look for “normal” babies, the advice are always different. To the point that some of them don’t recommended the other. Should I pick them up even when they don’t want too ? I’ve seen that bonding pouch are good so I’ve started doing that but they seem really agitated and when I pick them up they clearly don’t like it. I always offer lickable treats when they are in the pouch so they associate it with good food. But I’m scared that I’m scaring them with picking them up ect. When they are in a tunnel I take the tunnel and put it in the pouch to avoid handling. What was yall best trick to building trust and confidence with baby rats, about 6 weeks old ? And also if you have dealed with traumatized rats, how do u hand up being able to pick them up? I’m scared that an emergency arrives and I’m not able to handle them. I also can’t check for lumps because of that. Thank you if you read all that ! Sorry for mistake English is not my first language.

Hi, I'm wondering if I'm overthinking this, or if anyone else is able to pick up on an abnormality with my rat's back left foot. I think he appears to be dragging it/avoiding using it? I'm not sure how he might have injured it or if rats can develop problems in their legs/feet without being injured.
Any advice would be appreciated.

So ive got Rizzy and Remy they are both 2 yrs old
And then I've got milky he was my brother's but all of milky brothers passed away and my brother is moving away and sadly cant get anymore rats
Milky is 2.5 yrs old
Ive been mixing them 2 times a day in a play pen for at least 30 mins but any advice and tips would be appreciated
I should also mention that milky and remy have been grooming eachother quite a bit, im worried they are overgrooming eachother.
Im not sure the best time to mix them
Or how long to wait
The main thing i worry about is rizzy and milky
They keep sniffing eachothers balls alll the time so im not sure if thats some sort of alpha thing or if they are just trying to smell and be friendly with eachother
Milky -brown and white
Rizzy - cream
Remy brown
