I turned off cross posts. Anyone past this point who posts a lease takeover gets a nice 30 day ban.

Go to the housing sub.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Rant/Vent💚 Some people don’t deserve to be here

Oh my god tell me why the lines at Windsor today stretched across the ocean, because I waited 30 minutes in line for some grilled cheese right? Not even exaggerating btw— but the line finally moved forward and them greedy asses at the front of the line began stacking the grilled cheese like legos, but that’s understandable cus they have been waiting for a long time like me. Anyways, my time finally came and there was one grilled cheese left on that table— yes, a blessing from a heaven— and then a random fucking guy cut the line in front of me and grabbed that sandwich with his bare hands and I yelled “bro wtf????”. Unfortunately this abomination left before I could do anything and he was wearing headphones too and holy shit I regretted not squaring up so bad. You know sometimes there’s assholes in the world that will steal your grilled cheese which makes me wonder how people like that even got into Purdue.

Question❓ Anyone around Purdue good with cars? Could really use some help

• Upvotes

My Toyota Corolla recently broke down and won't start at all. When I turn the key, nothing happens. A friend and I tried checking the battery, and it seems fine. We also tried jump-starting it, but unfortunately that didn't work either.

I don't really know anyone around here who's good with cars, so I figured I'd ask here. If anyone has experience working on cars and could help me figure out what's wrong, or at least get it started temporarily so I can drive it to a mechanic, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm more than happy to pay you something for your time and help if you can get it running!

Feel free to comment or DM me if you think you could help. Thanks!

Question❓ Has anyone found a way to break their lease with these evil property management companies?

• Upvotes

These rental management companies that run basically every property around Purdue are such a nightmare to deal with. I'm currently renting with BK Management, and unfortunately they're even worse than when I used to live in a Granite property. I graduate in December and am moving back to my home state, but my lease goes until July, and I can't find anyone to sublet. Has anyone figured out a way to break their lease with these evil property management companies?

They won't even forgo my fixed $150 utility fee for the months where I won't be on the premises. I can't afford to keep paying this on top of my already way too high rent every month. According to them, there is no fee or anything that I can pay to break the lease early. I know there are a lot of elements in my lease that are actually illegal, but I don't think any of that is grounds to leave. If anyone has been in a similar situation (or know someone who has), I would love to hear how you were able to get out of a lease or at least lessen the crushing costs.

Res Halls & Dining✏️ Housing question

So I signed up for reapplication and apparently I chose the express placement option where it just places me automatically. I’m in a good dorm but me and my roommate were planning on living together again next year and I’m just wondering if I was gonna try and change my assignment on the 30th if we would still have a chance to room together?

Other Free dog training/ behavior modification offered

I am currently finishing out my degree at Purdue, and would like more clients as I am currently earning multiple dog behavior certifications which require several hundreds of hours of client work. I am certified in behavior assessment, and will offer the first two sessions for free. Sessions are usually one hour. If you would like more than two sessions I will charge a heavily discounted price of $20 an hour. Message me to learn more, all sessions will be conducted in a public setting.

Question❓ Switching from GRA to CPT mid-semester

Hey everyone, I'm an ECE grad student considering switching from my GRA position to CPT for Spring, and I'm trying to figure out the timing and tuition implications.

Aside from the current CPT issues, my main concern is tuition remission. From what I understand, as an F-1 student, I still need to be enrolled in at least 8 credits, which means I'd have to pay tuition if I lose my GRA remission. I've heard that Purdue has a strict 6-week rule where you need to maintain your GRA appointment for at least the first 6 weeks of the semester to keep your tuition remission.

Has anyone actually switched from GRA to CPT in the middle of a semester? If you leave your GRA after the first 6 weeks, do you get to keep the tuition remission for that semester, or does Purdue still revoke it? I asked my department office, but they didn't seem to have a clear answer either.

Are there good places on campus for trims for men’s curly/wavy hair? I had a bad experience freshman year and haven’t tried any other places on campus.

Res Halls & Dining✏️ are there still suites left for rising sophomores?

for rising sophomores that selected their housing today, are there still suites like freida or winifred left? does the portal reserve small portions of each dorm for each time slot or is everything first come first serve based on luck?

Question❓ Purdue CS class academic misconduct meeting

I’m a Purdue freshman, and my CS professor emailed me saying they have evidence that I copy/pasted code from an external source. I have a meeting with them on the evening, and I’m really anxious about what might happen.

For context, I wrote the code myself before the exam and copied it to my clipboard because I was worried about running out of time. During the exam, I pasted it into one question. I didn’t use someone else’s code or AI, but I understand that this violated the exam instructions, which explicitly prohibited outside websites and software.

I’m planning to be honest about what happened, but I’m worried about the consequences.

Has anyone been through a similar situation at Purdue, especially in CS? What happened during the meeting? Is it possible to get a zero on the exam rather than fail the entire course? Does the professor decide the penalty, or does it go through the Dean of Students?

I’d really appreciate hearing about people’s actual experiences or advice on how to prepare for the meeting. I’m not trying to justify what I did; I just want to understand what to expect.

Res Halls & Dining✏️ First Street Towers

Could any current FST residents tell me about your experience with this dorm? Are the walls thin? Do the showers have good ventilation and does showering get the bathroom wet and is there a moisture issue in the bathrooms? Does the staff do a good job of cleaning the bathrooms (I'll keep it clean but just curious)? Thank you!

Lost/Found📰 I found an AirPod charger...

To the guy who turfed it on his skateboard in between Northwestern/Stadium 4-way, you didn't pick up your airpod charger when you were rushing to pick things up. Poor guy, I have the charger, as I think you still had the airpods in your ears, but I have it here at ARMS 1252.

You started skateboarding back through the service road between ARMS and HAMP/PHYS. Hope I can find you. I don't wanna give to the lost and found at Surplus because they'll just sell it eventually.

Cheers

Rant/Vent💚 Dealing with Burnout in ME

I am not the type to ask strangers for advice but I’m just so lost right now. I’m a sophomore in ME and recently I’ve just been so stressed and burnt out that it’s really starting to become a downward spiral. I wake up at like 7am every morning and work until like 9pm at the earliest with no breaks and then eat and go to sleep to do the same thing again the next day. I study whenever I can find time to and I’ve all but given up on my hobbies and taking care of myself, I’ve even dropped one of my classes, but it feels like it’s just never enough. I’m still doing poorly on exams and I feel like I’m just not understanding anything in any of my classes. I know this is supposed to be a difficult degree and all but it just feels like I’m living in a waking nightmare every day and I’m starting to wonder if this was the right choice for me. I’m looking for advice— on how to deal with the burnout and stress, or even just what to do next.
