Innovative Python-Based Solutions for Automated Classroom Attendance and Monitoring
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a software project to address the challenges of manual attendance tracking and student engagement monitoring in large online lectures. I'm looking for coding ideas, architecture designs, and potential Python libraries that could be implemented in these areas.
Here are some specific questions I have:
• Basic Concepts & Data Structures: How can I use lists, dictionaries, or loops in Python to store and manage student names, roll numbers, and attendance status efficiently?
• File Handling: What is the easiest way to save this student data into a text file or CSV file so that it doesn't get erased when the program closes?
• User Input & Menu: How can I create a simple command-line menu loop (using while and if-else) so the user can easily choose options to add students, view records, or mark attendance?
• Beginner Resources & Tips: Are there any good beginner-friendly tutorials, code examples, or open-source sample projects that show how to build a basic management system from scratch?

a dict keyed by roll number for attendance, then csv.DictWriter on exit is all you need. sqlite3 dodges the whole file-erasure worry.

What kind of question is that?

The simplest way of storing/loading in-memory structures to/from disk is through built-in Python module pickle and/or shelve. You can also write and read CSV files using built-in Python module csv.

The way I'd structure it is a dictionary with the roll number or student ID as the key and the student's details as the value, then a list of attendance records for each day. A while loop with a small text menu works well for this — each choice calls one job, like marking attendance, viewing it, or saving, and one choice breaks out of the loop. For saving, the csv module is the easiest step up from a plain text file, since it keeps each student's record on its own row and is easy to open later for analysis. Build it in that order — data structure first, menu second, saving last — and test each part before adding the next one.

Honestly, the way you wrote your post hints more on a homework assignment than on a professional program.
A professional program would use a database e.g. SQLite for persistent data storage, and some form of a GUI (either web based with Flask or Django) or a GUI with TKinter, PYQt, or something similar.
Your questions hint that you are in no way skilled enough to pull this off.
