Building a new house and just visited a Ferguson showroom. The Kohler artifacts shower systems are beautiful. Any input on these? Worth the price? Something better?

I called a plumber because the water was leaking from the shower to the kitchen ceiling through the downlighting. Idiot turned up and cut a hole in the ceiling and a hole in the shower tray. I Managed to fix the shower with a waste trap from wickes priced at £7.59 and the plumber cost £236.00! Can fix the ceiling no problem but not sure how to fix the shower tray, it’s 5 x 10 in on the side and I can’t find anything to fill the hole, please help!

This weird blue/grey staining has come up on our downstairs toilet seat! No idea where it’s come from. Our cleaner came on Wednesday but we didn’t notice this until Saturday?? Neither me or my husband have used any cleaning products on it since.

I’ve tried cleaning it off, but it doesn’t budge!

Could this have been done by the cleaner and developed later?

I’m renovating my bathroom and have beige tiles. I’m trying to decide between brushed brass (gold) and chrome for the shower and shower enclosure.

I really like the warm, modern look of brushed brass, especially with beige tiles, but I’m worried about the finish fading, peeling or discolouring over time. The shower I found advertises a PVD finish, but the colour-coating warranty is only one year, and I haven’t been able to confirm whether the enclosure has a PVD finish.

Chrome seems like the safer, more timeless and potentially lower-maintenance option, but I’m concerned it might look a bit plain compared with brass.

For those who have lived with either finish for a few years:

Has your brushed-brass shower or enclosure faded, peeled or changed colour over time? Which ones did you get?

Is brushed brass difficult to keep clean, especially with hard water and limescale?

Which do you recommend?

I’d really appreciate honest experiences, especially from people who have had their fittings for several years rather than just recently installed them.
