SUPPORT I'm losing my mind with my WiFi card

Realtek RTL8852BE Wi-Fi repeatedly crashes on Arch Linux (rtw89 firmware hangs, PCI resets fail)

I am going insane here, please help.

I've been trying to fix a Wi-Fi issue on my Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 (2022), I'm on Arch of course.

My Wi-Fi works normally after booting, but after a random amount of time, anything from a few minutes, sometimes up to two hours it stops working completely.

NetworkManager and the interface becomes unavailable, and iw dev wlo1 link reports Not connected.

Restarting NetworkManager, toggling Wi-Fi, reloading kernel modules, and even resetting the PCIe device all fail and I just reboot.

  • Laptop: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH7 (2022)
  • Wi-Fi: Realtek RTL8852BE PCIe 802.11ax
  • Driver: rtw89_8852be (in-kernel)

NetworkManager:

I tried: restarting NetworkManager.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on with nmcli.

Reloading the rtw89 kernel modules.

Tried the LTS Kernel, even tried a different firmware.

SUPPORT | SOLVED Sudden poor performance in fullscreen applications

The past couple of days I've noticed a sharp decrease in performance in fullscreen applications, especially GPU intensive games. Using mangohud I can see unusually low GPU utilisation, though strangely enough unfocusing causes my game to perform more like how it should (it suddenly shoots up in FPS!)

I've had this problem on my old install, and a new install I have just created to see if that would fix it. I wonder if it's something with the GPU drivers?

For reference I'm using an RX 6700XT with a Ryzen 5 5600X.

SUPPORT How to isolate an AMD dGPU and only be used when explicitly requested via DRI_PRIME=1

Idk what happened, it worked till recently, but basically on my laptop, I used the dGPU only when I was playing games, but recently apps like Firefox, and Kwin Wayland / XWaylandd keep pinging my dGPU and waking it up, and that makes my system stutter

  Host: HP Victus Laptop 16-e0xxx
DE/WM: KDE Plasma 6.8.1 on KWin (Wayland)
GPUs: AMD Radeon Vega [iGPU] + AMD Radeon RX 5500M [dGPU]

DISCUSSION Recent Convert

Hey y'all! I hope these kinds of posts are welcome here. I recently made the jump from my main desktop being a Windows machine to Arch Linux and have been loving it so far! I have to credit a YouTuber named Josean Martinez for doing a great walkthrough series on setting up Arch -- though I opted for using `pacman` way more than he did.

I have had experience with setting up and using Linux in the past. I have an old Thinkpad that has had Ubuntu on it for years, but I must say I MUCH prefer Arch and Pacman.

I've got Arch, Hyprland, Waybar, Rofi, and then a bunch of terminal and game related packages.

I mostly use my personal desktop for coding, watching streams, and gaming and feel like I've got all those covered in a comfortable spot right now:

  • My dotfiles, including NeoVim, is setup and working well.
  • I've got Zen Browser installed.
  • Steam, along with BattleNet thru Steam, are up and running and working great.

I haven't hit any crazy snags yet, but I feel like my setup is fairly minimal as well and haven't even tested my microphone or webcam yet -- but hopefully those aren't too cumbersome to get working (if they don't work out of the box). My only regret is not making the switch sooner. This has been a joy to setup and tweak!

QUESTION Calendar with Apple calendar sync support and VIM keys

Hey, guys. I look for a calendar that would support sync with my Apple calendar and preferably had VIM keys support. I currently use rencal, but I would like something that I don't have to grab from the AUR.

Hello, this morning I updated my system, and upon reboot I found that I could no longer access KDE. When it boots it just stalls on the boot status (I have it on verbose). I can switch TTYs, but whatever I do sddm and plasma fail to run.

If more information is needed let me know

Thanks for the help

SUPPORT Downloaded Cisco Packet Tracer and my computer password doesn’t work anymore.

For context, I’m fairly new to arch Linux and Linux in general and I changed my operating system over the summer. I run it on a maybe 20 year old MacBook so it’s not the best but it works.

I needed Cisco packet tracer for my cybersecurity class so I worked with my instructor and we figured it out. We downloaded the Ubuntu file from the Arch Linux website and changed the file in terminal to run for Arch.

It worked, but when I got home my password wasn’t working anymore and I’m just completely logged out still. I tried researching it and some sources say my Linux may have been corrupted but I’m still confused and unsure how to fix it. Can anyone help please? I will drown in work if I don’t have my home computer back soon.

SHARE A minimal, AI-ready Arch Linux workstation

I've been building a minimal Arch-based environment focused on AI-assisted productivity.

I like the direction of projects such as Omarchy, but I wanted something different: less focus on desktop aesthetics and more focus on having a cohesive environment for working with AI agents.

The project brings together four main tools:

  • Herdr – Agent and workspace management
  • Hermes – General-purpose AI assistant and automation
  • OpenCode – AI coding agent
  • aichat – Natural language to shell commands without leaving the prompt

and optional Omarchy and productivity tools:

  • Arch Linux tools – a reproducible development foundation
  • Integrated Omarchy repository – install additional Omarchy packages on-demand

The idea is to keep the environment lightweight, cohesive and reproducible, without hiding everything behind a giant installer.

It's still evolving, and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, suggestions and criticism.

I'm particularly interested in what other people use for their terminal-based AI workflows, and what you'd improve in this setup.
