This is the bullshit business owners have to deal with. It’s been 4 months and 4 attempts and Apple still can’t seem to understand clear instructions. Apple Maps is hot trash.

In the last month I’ve been on a few trips and had a lot of weird issues with Apple Maps.

It’ll take me through a city to get on the interstate at a further point.

It had me get off the interstate and drive through town just to get back on the same interstate.

It took me an hour and a half out of my way on an 11 hour drive, turning it into a 13 hour drive.

I did not have any “avoid” stuff selected, and the 13 hour drive even took me through more tolls than my preferred route.

I know some instances may be due to accidents or construction, but in one instance it actually had me avoid the clear part of the interstate and directed me into the congested construction.

When I’m familiar with the area I can make my own decisions and I can’t understand why the maps are giving me longer routes, but if I’m unfamiliar I’m relying on them to navigate.

It didn’t use to be this bad, I’ve used it in these areas without issue before.

A couple of weeks ago, I conducted a survey about Apple Maps as part of an assignment where I had to rethink and redesign the app to address users' pain points.

One of the most common issues people mentioned was business information and the need for more local information.

This is just a concept exploring what could be added to Apple Maps to make it better. I haven't used Apple's icons in this design; I just used Google Material Design icons because I was too lazy to find alternatives.

I'd love to hear your feedback! What do you think? Is this a good addition to Apple Maps' UI, or would you approach it differently?

I've split the experience into two sections: Explore and Navigate. Explore helps you discover places nearby that you might like, while Navigate focuses on getting you to your destination. I've also added quick actions that let you call or share a restaurant or business you find.

ps. P.S. This is just a basic concept, not a working prototype or anything.

No matter how many times I search an address, Apple Maps just doesn’t give a shit. for example, was staying at an airbnb in ABQ. Every time I would type ”304” it would display literally every other address with 304 in it other than the one that I have searched like 4 times every day.

Has anyone’s Apple Maps been sending them in circles recently? For the last week or so whenever I put in the directions I’ll get sent in a circle multiple times. Is there a way to fix this or should I talk to someone? 😭

Not sure how best to ask this question.

When I’m in my car, I have my iPhone mounted to the dash to view Maps while driving.

When I have an actual destination plugged in, Maps follows the location of the car as I drive.

If I don’t have a destination plugged in, location of the car on Maps remains static. The map does not move as the car moves.

I don’t always need to map my destination. If I’m just going to Costco, I know where that is. But I’d love if Maps had a “follow me” mode where it’s just a traditional GPS view without an actual final destination.

I have been trying to fix the hours for my business on the apple map for 6 months with no success.
i changed in Apple business manager page it showed correct hrs there BUT not updated in map.
trying to call support but keep getting cut off.
Can i delete the apple
Map and readd my business?

One thing that always drove me nuts - say I am traveling to a far away city and find a restaurant and I want to see how far away it is from something in the city I am traveling to. You’d hit directions and immediately it would calculate directions from your current location, so you’d have to stop that, enter a new address and have it done (this would happen in places like Hawaii so it would helpfully tell me no directions from the continental US were available).

Now it seems to not include the “directions” button but instead “Plan” which prompts you to add a starting point.

New? Did I miss this before?

I use Apple Maps to look up driving directions to a given set of coordinates. I use Apple Maps in offline mode where I have downloaded maps for offline use. The iPhone quickly brings up Maps with the location of the coordinates, but many times when I tap the blue horizontal button containing the icon of the car and the estimated travel time, nothing happens. There are times when I tap over and over again, and the routes are not displayed. Other times, the routes are displayed right away. Does anyone have an idea why it can take so long to bring up the different routes? Even after repeatedly tapping the icon?

is anyone else’s apple maps saying this or has said this? any tips on what to do?

Title pretty much says it all, wondering how/where I can customize what the “sharing eta” text message says?
I remember being able to do it a few iOS versions back, currently on 27, cant find the option anywhere?

Given this, I could see the new maps launching for everyone within the next 20 days or so (ie: mid-late November, potentially early December). This is not guaranteed, but hopefully it comes soon (along with Look Around) :)

New to IOS

When searched on google for a location google tries to take me to google maps in ios how to go to Apple Maps.

I’ve seen apps like mapper and mapswitch are there any free apps like this or any tricks. And does these above mentioned apps work as described

Is there a way to download a section of apple maps for a given area, such as a city, so that you can locally edit the maps for your own personal use? Is there an option to create your own public transport lines on your own local maps? And is there any equivalent to Google My Maps for Apple Maps?

Je me demandais si c'est normal ou si c'est juste mon téléphone qui capote. Quand je roule sur certaines routes provinciales (comme la Route 132), la voix d'Apple Maps est complètement incapable de le dire normalement et me sort un charabia totalement éclaté, style « ssaaatraaatdeu ».
Est-ce que ça vous fait ça normalement vous aussi ?

I believe this is new, I checked these cities about a month ago and they didn’t have POI support when in the full-screen look around view

Apple has decided to start releasing cities every two or so days, mostly in pairs of three or two at a time. They haven't really been adding any new places lately.
