ACTION! 2026 Midterm Voting Guide: Registration, Early Voting, Mail Ballots & Election Day!

Hey r/WayOfTheBern!

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026! Voting rules and deadlines vary by state, so here are some official resources to help you make a plan to vote!

Quick reminders:

  • Early voting is already underway in many states!
  • Voting by mail? Check your deadlines and return your ballot early.
  • Not sure you're registered? It only takes a moment to check!

1. Make Sure You're Registered

It's worth checking even if you've voted before, especially if you've moved or changed your name.

Many registration deadlines have passed, but some states still allow registration during early voting or on Election Day!

Turning 18 by November 3? You may be eligible to vote if you're a U.S. citizen and meet your state's other requirements.

2. Pick How You'll Vote

Vote early, in person!

Early voting is already open in many states, sometimes with evening and weekend hours.

NASS – Early Voting by State

Vote by mail / absentee ballot

USA.gov – Absentee & Mail Voting

  • Request your ballot soon if your state requires an application.
  • Follow the instructions and sign where required.
  • Return it early! Check your state's deadline for returning ballots. USPS recommends mailing at least a week before your ballot must arrive. Short on time? Check for official drop boxes or in-person return options.
  • Track your ballot! Many states offer online ballot tracking.

Military or overseas voter? Visit FVAP.gov.

Vote on Election Day!

Tuesday, November 3! Polling hours vary by state, so double-check before heading out.

3. Know Before You Go

  • Where to vote: NASS – Find Your Polling Place. Locations can change, and early-voting sites may differ from Election Day sites.
  • What ID to bring: NASS – ID Requirements by State. You don't need your voter registration card, but some voters, including certain first-time voters, may need ID.
  • What's on your ballot: Many local election offices provide sample ballots online so you can see the races and measures before voting.

4. Good to Know at the Polls

  • In line when polls close? Stay in line! If you're already in line when the polls close, you can still vote!
  • Name not on the voter list? Ask a poll worker about a provisional ballot or other options available in your state.
  • Need assistance? Voters with disabilities have the right to accessible voting and can request help.

5. Questions or Problems?

Your state or local election office is the best place for official answers.

The nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline can also help:

  • English: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)
  • Español: 888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682)
  • Asian languages: 888-API-VOTE (888-274-8683)
  • Arabic: 844-YALLA-US (844-925-5287)

Your vote is your voice! Voting is one of the most important ways to have a say in the issues that affect your community and your future.

Make a plan, get out there, and cast your vote!

Please share this guide with friends, family, or anyone who might find it helpful!

See you at the polls!

Claude Code just found proof that every app on your phone is listening to your conversations. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat. they're using what you say out loud to build your feed. i have the data to prove it.

i've suspected this for months but last week something happened that made me finally check.

i was on a call with my friend and told him i'm thinking about breaking up with my girlfriend. didn't text it. didn't search it. just said it out loud with my phone on the table. two hours later she opens TikTok next to me and her entire feed is breakups. "signs your relationship is over." "how to heal after a breakup." she looked at me and said "why is TikTok showing me this." i said i don't know. but i did know.

i connected my iPhone to my MacBook and ran Claude Code that same night.

it scanned every app's background microphone activity for the last 90 days. not just the apps that asked for microphone permission. apps that were supposed to only have access to photos or location but were activating the microphone anyway.

what it found:

→ TikTok activated the microphone 347 times while the app was "closed" in the background
→ Instagram → 211 background activations
→ Facebook → 189
→ Snapchat → 94

every activation lasted between 3 and 15 seconds. enough to catch a sentence. every one of them tagged a keyword and cached it locally on the phone with a timestamp.

Claude Code pulled the full keyword cache:

→ "breakup" — tagged 4 hours before her feed changed
→ "moving out" — from a conversation with my mom last Tuesday
→ "wedding venue" — from a call with my sister about her engagement that i never searched once
→ "protein powder" — said it out loud to my roommate, had ads for it within an hour
→ "flight to tokyo" — mentioned it at dinner, saw travel ads the same night

those keywords were sitting in a local cache on my phone organized by app with timestamps. TikTok had the most entries. Instagram was second. every single keyword matched a conversation i had out loud near my phone.

the scariest one was "wedding venue." my sister told me she's getting engaged on a private call. i never searched it. never typed it. within a day my explore page had engagement rings and venue tours.

then Claude Code checked a second phone in the same room. my girlfriend's. same keywords. same timestamps. both phones were picking up the same conversation and tagging it independently.

i asked Claude Code how to shut it down. it mapped every app's microphone access and built a permission audit.

what i did:

→ revoked microphone access from every app that doesn't need it to function
→ disabled background app refresh for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat
→ turned off "Hey Siri" which keeps the microphone in passive listening mode 24/7
→ revoked "nearby interaction" permission which uses ultrasonic audio between devices

Claude Code confirmed all four apps lost background microphone access after the changes. i checked her phone too. same steps. took about 3 minutes per phone.

within 48 hours both our feeds went completely random. generic content. nothing personal. nothing from our conversations. that's when i knew for sure it was real.

the full step by step and the prompt are in the first reply. takes 3 minutes. save it so you don't lose it and send it to anyone who's ever said "my phone is definitely listening to me." it is. now you can prove it and shut it down.

your iphone can be fully hacked just by visiting a website. without clicking a thing. and most people don’t even know this exists yet

it’s called DarkSword

google’s threat intelligence team found it and it’s been active since late 2025

it chains six different iOS vulnerabilities together to completely take over your phone the moment you land on a malicious page

you don’t click anything, you don’t download anything, you just visit the site

once it’s in, it deploys something called Ghostblade. this thing grabs your messages, call history, contacts, saved passwords, photos, location, iCloud files, even your health data

then it specifically goes hunting for crypto apps like coinbase, binance, metamask, phantom, exodus, ledger, trezor, and more. it looks for your seed phrases and account data

the worst part is after it takes everything, it deletes itself. cleans up its own traces and shuts down so you never even know it happened

your wallet gets drained and you’re sitting there confused thinking you got phished somewhere

it’s been used in ukraine, turkey, and the middle east so far. some of the groups using it are reportedly government-linked

if you’re running iOS 18.4 through 18.7 you need to update right now. apple has patched it but only if you actually install the update. go to settings, check for updates, do it today not tomorrow

and stop storing seed phrases on your phone

A Milei voter regrets his vote, but at one point in the interview he said he's an anarcho-capitalist and that we need money to live. So from what I gather, he wants capitalists to do whatever they want and no taxes. So why complain? He got what he wanted,he just lost the race in this dog-eat-dog.

Positively Biblical (NT) Moon of Alabama: Netanyahu tries to restart Iran war and is denied three times

I highly recommend this Moon of Alabama article:

Three Times Netanyahu Failed To Reignite War — Saudi-Iran Negotiations

The Likud party of the current Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahoo, is likely to lose tomorrow's election.

The polls have shown such an outcome for some time which is why Netanyahoo has been looking for other ways to keep his position.

His preferred option until yesterday was to create an emergency by restarting a war against Iran. The retaliation coming from Iran, in the form missiles and drone attacks on Israel, would have allowed him to postpone the election.

...

There were so far three attempts by Netanyahoo to create the wished-for emergency.

The first was to push U.S. President Donald Trump into leading another attack on Iran... but the operation was shelved after Trump opposed restarting the conflict before the November 3 U.S. midterm elections.

In the second attempt Netanyahoo hoped to provoke a violent Iranian reaction by feinting an Israeli attack... [but Iran didn't fall for the trick.]

The third attempt by Netanyahoo came over the weekend when he gave a direct order to the Israeli military to launch another attack on Iran.

The Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, received the order but refused to carry it out. He moreover ‘leaked’ the incident to the Channel 12 media outlet and took care that the report which followed would not be censored.

Getting denied three times is positively Biblical... New Testament, bien entendu.

The silliest way that I’ve seen Americans get manipulated into advocating against our own interests is simple language games.

The Communist Party of China and socialism with Chinese characteristics is very obviously wildly successful while here in the USA, our standard of living is falling apart.

And the Epstein regime says, “Actually, the Communist Party of China is secretly fooling over a billion people by telling them that’s socialism because REALLY it’s super secretly capitalism because markets.”

The problem here is that markets existed long before capitalism. As far back as Stalin’s “Economic Problems of Socialism in USSR” the Marxist Leninist/Communist view of commodity production within socialism was established. Not only that, Communists have ALWAYS said that this is not what makes capitalism capitalism, or socialism socialism. What matters is the primary driving force of social reproduction.. or how our society is reproduced. Is it according to what we all have in common (the root word of Communism) and social ends (the root of socialism), or is it according to the accumulation of capital (which is why we call it capital-ism)?

So what they do is redefine the real world away from these basic things into something it’s not, as if selling things is somehow exclusive to capitalism, then get YOU to believe a LOT of crazy lies about what people have to do in order to not sell things.

It’s all very childish, and it’s honestly astounding to me that grown adults fail to see through it so often.

Literally all we have to do is look at what these Communist Parties say for themselves. Yet we seem terrified to do that. Which is where those lies come in. They exist to terrify you and make you feel superior at the same time.

It’s very basic emotional manipulation.

We should stop falling for it.

Slouching toward Kaliningrad, NATO dismisses a nuclear threat

• Upvotes

https://responsiblestatecraft.org/kaliningrad-nato-russia/

During the Cold War, the exclave of West Berlin, isolated in the middle of Communist East Germany, was regarded as one of the most dangerous potential flashpoints for a conflict between the Soviet Union and the West. Indeed, Joseph Stalin’s blockade of land access to the city in 1948-49 came close to triggering a new war, until the U.S. and Britain proved able to supply the population by air.

It is a pity, if not altogether surprising, that Western leaders gave no thought to this history before extending NATO membership to Poland and Lithuania, thereby isolating the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg in the former German East Prussia) behind NATO lines. It is now common for Western security analysts to describe the “Suwalki Gap”... as the most dangerous point in the growing Russia-NATO confrontation. Yet they carefully omit to recall that it was NATO, not Russia, that made it so.

Kaliningrad is the headquarters of the Russian Baltic Fleet and a base for Russian medium-range nuclear missiles. It is also internationally-recognized Russian territory. In U.S. terms, it is as if Pearl Harbor found itself isolated in the middle of Chinese-controlled territory.

President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government have stated recently that if NATO blockades Kaliningrad, Russia will respond with nuclear weapons if necessary; every member of the Russian establishment with whom I have spoken has said the same. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, displaying the smirking, strutting frivolity that he has made his trademark, responded that he does “not take this seriously.”

It may seem that NATO countries could not possibly be so crazy as to run the appalling risks involved in imposing a blockade on Kaliningrad; but in fact they have twice suggested moves in this direction.

… at the very same time that Sikorski was saying Russia is so weak in the Baltic region that NATO can threaten it with impunity, other Polish officials were warning of the likelihood of an impending Russian attack on NATO to “test” the alliance.

A U.S. security establishment that goes into hysterics when a Chinese balloon flies over America is in no position to accuse anyone else of paranoia, and nor are European security figures who allow a few minor acts of arson to spook them into declaring that “we are already at war with Russia.” If the West blockades Kaliningrad, they may learn what a real war with Russia is like.

In old allegorical paintings of Prudence, she is often portrayed holding a mirror. This symbolizes her capacity for self-awareness and self-examination, that in turn leads her to modesty and a better understanding of others. For all our sakes, it would be better if European governments spent less time shouting in Russia’s face and more time examining their own.

Microsoft offers buyouts to around 60,000 employees to contain costsMicrosoft had 223,000 full-time employees globally as of Jun 30, 2026, according to its annual filing.

Staffers across the Windows maker would be eligible for the offers, including those working in AI experiences, Copilot, finance, human resources, Xbox and Windows + Devices, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters, requesting anonymity as the matter was private. Units such as marketing, commercial business and security will be excluded, the source added.

"This offer gives eligible employees who may be considering a future outside the company a new choice to make that transition now with support. It also gives participating organisations another way to adapt their workforce to changing needs," chief people officer Amy Coleman said in a staff memo.

Like other tech giants, Microsoft is spending hundreds of billions of dollars on AI data centres and chips, drawing scrutiny from investors over whether the returns will justify the staggering cost. The company, slated to report first-quarter results after markets close on Wednesday, has forecast US$175 billion in capital expenditures for the 2026 calendar year.

Let’s be real.

Obama dropped more than 26,000 bombs in a single year, 2016 alone, across seven countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

He expanded the drone war to roughly ten times what Bush ran.

He did more for military industrial complex profits than almost anyone who campaigned on peace.

And Iran was the last name on the Wesley Clark memo: seven countries in five years, Iraq first, Iran last, with the Clean Break doctrine written for Netanyahu setting the table years before.

But here’s the reality underneath it.

War in Iran and Ukraine transfers wealth to bondholders, oil producers and refiners, from everyone who consumes energy and everyone who pays interest on debt.

That’s the financial industrial complex.

The FIC.

The technical industrial complex, the TIC, gets to justify a police and surveillance state at home off the back of the unrest, while field-testing new killing technology abroad.

The US, UK, EU and Israeli stock markets get a stimulus.

Governments become more subordinate to their lobbies through debt.

And the resulting inflation gets socialised onto you.

War is a wealth transfer.

It also drives liquidity into the bond market, which props up the backing of the world’s reserve currency.

In my view, that’s why Obama and Trump both end up at war.

Not left versus right, but the same complexes behind both of them.

Israel is a military industrial complex node, an MIC with a state of its own.

And right now, it’s privatising it: floating its state defence giants, IAI and Rafael, on the stock market at valuations inflated by two years of war.

The MIC is being absorbed into the FIC, cashing in the war premium, live on the Tel Aviv exchange.

War is a racket.

And when the Middle East runs out of road, the MIC needs a new revenue stream.

Which is why the war narratives are now escalating towards Europe, Latin America and a security state across the collective West.

Left and right are tools for real power.

As the power map shifts across BRICS, SCO, ASEAN and GCC, war becomes the tool for negotiating a new world order in a struggle between multiple nodes of power.

In my opinion, it’s not WW3.

It’s a renegotiation.

And burning your attention on culture war and identity politics is exactly how you’re kept from noticing who’s transferring your wealth and raising your prices.

It’s how the system was designed.

You’re just seeing it more clearly now because the MIC is bringing its covert warfare apparatus home and manufacturing the unrest here.

Don’t be a useful idiot in another election cycle of lies that changes none of it.

The very public execution of my professorship and reputation continues in Norway. Today’s media article about me makes three claims that are misleading and/or false.

1) The article dismisses my claim that my research is being criminalized as the journalists merely cite the dismissive comments from the university - no arguments are apparently required.

It is not possible for an academic anymore to analyse the policies of rival powers by assessing their security concerns, as it will be smeared by the government, the government’s NGOs and the media as “legitimizing” the enemy and supporting their narratives. The current Defence Minister singled me out with the accusation of spreading propaganda and criticised two podcasters for even speaking with me (as I have already been cancelled by the media in Norway). How was this accusation by the Defence Minister substantiated? I had argued that NATO expansion triggered the war in Ukraine, which the Defence Minister denounce as dangerous “Russian propaganda”, with no need to substantiate his vile accusation. I can cite a sea of evidence and also refer to statements by American and European political leaders, ambassadors, intelligence chiefs, and others to make my case. However, the purpose is not to engage in debate, but to smear, censor, and cancel. By going after an individual academic for challenging official truths, the government has already claimed a monopoly on the truth. Academics should have their arguments scrutinised and criticised, but these are severe personal attacks from the government without the possibility of even defending myself. How is this not criminalising the research of an academic?

I cannot even speak at any events in Norway without the event being cancelled. The last event I agreed to speak at was because I shared the stage with the former CIA officer John Kiriakou. A newspaper had the event at a church cancelled, and when the backup location did not also cancel, the journalist simply printed in the paper that it had been cancelled so people would not show up. Is this normal? I must use my allotted holiday days to attend conferences because any event I attend can be presented as “controversial,” and then the NGOs and journalists will go after the reputation of the university. Is this normal? Every newspaper article about me merely refers to me as “controversial” or “pro-Russian” without ever assigning meaning to these labels or presenting my argument.

I have argued, much like former CIA director Burns, that if the West attempts to pull Ukraine into the NATO orbit, then there would be war and Ukraine would be destroyed. This is considered a “pro-Russian” argument. Arguing that we should respect the will of most Ukrainians who want negotiations to end the war is also considered a “pro-Russian” argument, while in contrast, boycotting diplomacy, deporting Ukrainian refugees, and calling for the conscription of Ukrainian women is “pro-Ukrainian”.

2) To avoid addressing any of my arguments, the journalists go on to uncritically cite personal attacks against me, pointing out that I have been called a propagandist by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee. This is a “non-governmental organisation” financed by the government and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which was set up by Reagan and the CIA director in 1983 to manipulate the civil society of other states. The Norwegian Helsinki Committee has been relentless in its smears on social media to have me fired, writing hit pieces in the media, pushing to cancel my speaking events, writing a letter to my university, and even posting a picture of my house on social media. This is a governmental "human rights organisation" that cites human rights concerns to build the case for war.

3) Lastly, to further avoid addressing my actual arguments, they simply cite the fact that arguments I made at a debate last year have been “wholly or partially debunked” by a fact-check. The state-run media (NRK) invited the state-run military defence institute (FFI) to fact-check three of my claims. What claims did they "debunk"?

My first claim was that only 20% of Ukrainians wanted NATO membership between 1991 and the regime change in February 2014. The fact-checker argued that the number went up by the middle of 2014 (after Russia responded by seizing Crimea), which is a completely meaningless comment intended to muddy the waters, as my argument was about the previous era.

My second claim was that Zelensky had argued in an interview with The Economist in March 2022 that there were some Western countries that would like a long war with Russia to weaken a strategic rival, even if it would result in the destruction of Ukraine. The fact-checker argued that not all Western countries wanted a long war and that it was not an official policy. I never claimed it was an official policy, as it was primarily the US and UK pushing for a long war.

My third claim was that the US and UK sabotaged the Istanbul peace agreement in April 2022. The fact-checker claimed this was incorrect and suggested that it could only be based on one statement by David Arakhamia. The fact-checker did not want to mention that both mediators also confirmed it: Turkey’s foreign minister and the former Israeli prime minister both said that Russia and Ukraine were close to a deal, but the US and UK saw an opportunity to weaken Russia by fighting with Ukrainians. Zelensky’s former adviser Arestovych confirmed it, and the Ukrainian ambassador Chaly, who participated in the negotiations, confirmed that Putin was willing to do almost anything to end the war. The former head of the German armed forces confirmed that Boris Johnson sabotaged it, and Boris Johnson himself wrote articles warning about a “bad peace” and arguing for “strategic patience.” I am being fact-checked by war propagandists.

Unfortunately, none of my arguments matter because in Norway there is no debate and no interest in any arguments. Reality means nothing anymore as war narratives must be defended against inconvenient truths. I used to be naïve and think that the endless smears were caused by misunderstanding, as I had simply not been able to convey my arguments properly. However, the endless articles with smears and labels are deliberate lies and deceptions.
