Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread
Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.
This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

Question Cains Ballroom Tulsa vs OKC Thunder Game
Two different posts with similar siutations, and two different outcomes.
The "nazis at Cains" post (tulsa r/tulsa • 1d ago u/stinkygurl420) told of the staff refusal to remove a man with a swastika necklace who also came with others who admitted to being nazis.
The "A Thunder game is apparently not the appropriate place to make your white trash personality known" (okc r/okc • 1d ago u/MyDogNewt) told how security removed someone wearing an offensive t-shirt.
Similar situations, different outcomes...my conclusion: Tulsa's Cain's staff has no cajones.
If you've read both posts, what say you?

General My ebike saves me $200+ in gas every month
And I really wish drivers would stop acting like they’ve never seen a bike before. We are lucky to have clearly marked bike lanes. Please let people used them without being honked/yelled at.
Highly highly recommend getting an ebike if you live in midtown/downtown. I ride mine almost every day and have figured out the right attachments to run errands (groceries, pharmacy, etc). With gas prices the way they are, it has paid off in less than 6 months.
Selfishly I would like to see more people riding bikes (electric or otherwise) because it *might make Tulsa drivers more aware of driving/parking too close to the bike lane.
If you’re thinking about it, take this as your sign 😄

General this place man
Best and the worst place to be. Have opportunity out the ass but my fuckin dad been transient my whole life, now I can't find him at all. My whole family hates the man. But he's still my dad you know? And he probably out on some corner OD'ing or just too fucking old to keep going he's almost 70. Why am I typing this? Because I'm drunk and miss my dad. Everybody acts like it he dies the world will be a better place... Will it? Will the lonely old man living in a shack or maybe not at all.
Trying to search and find if he passed, but I almost don't want to know. It I find out he died and tell my family they will ridicule me for everything wishing he's okay.
He wasn't a great guy, abusive, physical. But the older I get, the more I see things from his lense. Gaslit into homelessness.
I just want to know if the motherfucker is alive and it's some great disturbance.
Fuck dad I'm sorry man. We shoulda shot through this life together. We're generic copies basically but the world can't handle us together I guess.... I hope may isn't the last time. We'll be back together some pops..

The Burbs This is pure political corruption right? No one thinks this is necessary. But someone's getting $150k for it.

General Pileup on expressway going north
I don’t recommend for any reason taking northbound 169 if you’re south of 51st st. More than one wreck, they’ve got it down to one lane and half of the cities first responders out there.

General Job Search
Hey everyone,
Unfortunately, I was let go from my job today. My position at the company unfortunately was dissolved and essentially they’re minimizing it across the entire company putting more work on less people and utilizing AI to fill the gap.
I’ve been with the same company for almost 10 years so I’m on the job hunt - I’m in the space of business management, people development, operations performance for any type of company but I’ve been in healthcare for the last 15 years.
If anyone knows of a company that’s looking for a director-level position, or even manager level I’d love to stay in Tulsa!
I can travel, commuting is fine, no specific needs other than the pay and while I’ve only been unemployed for less than a couple hours, I figure I reach out in any avenue I can on top of LinkedIn and Indeed.
Thanks for your help!

Question Sensory night at the Aquarium?
Parents or caretakers of autistic kids, what can you tell me about this?
I have an emergency situation where I am taking care of an autistic child and I am looking for things to do with him.
Any other recommendations would be great!

General Late night airport ride
Does anybody have experience lately with getting Ubers around midnight I’m about to head to Tulsa and I’m wondering if I should call a cab company or if Uber is being reliable with these prices

General nazis at Cain’s
At the AFI show tonight at Cains, a bartender alerted security of a man with a swastika necklace who also came with others who admitted to being nazis.. they refused to kick him out reasoning being "freedom of speech" ... just going to leave this here. Very disappointed especially because they don't check people for weapons properly.

General Tulsa Public Radio App for Mac
Hi NPR fans, yes I realize there are so many ways to listen to NPR, including tons of apps. I don't like any of them and I don't want to have a browser tab just to stream. I just wanted simple app to stream our local stream on my Mac. I hate Apple Music, but I like that it uses the official stream, so I claude coded a very minimal app that literally just plays the stream. It's a very tiny app and has exactly what I needed. Just sharing in case anyone else would find this useful, I have all the code on github and can share the source if you want to make your own.

Politics Judicial Scorecard from the conservative Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA)
If you're having trouble deciding which (if any) Oklahoma Supreme Court justices to vote to retain, you may find the Judicial Scorecard from the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA) helpful: https://ocpathink.org/judicial-scorecard
The OCPA was founded by a "longtime board chairman of The Heritage Foundation" and describes itself as "Oklahoma’s leading conservative think tank." The OCPA's scorecard grades Oklahoma state lawmakers and Supreme Court justices on how well their votes/rulings align with "OCPA’s principles of limited government, free markets, personal responsibility, individual initiative, and strong families." Justice Travis Jett, for example, has an 84% lifetime score. Justice Richard Darby: 52%. Justice M. John Kane IV: 79%. Justice Dana Kuehn: 83%. (Other justices listed on that page are not eligible for retention votes until 2028 or later.)
OCPA also has a Legislative Scorecard for Oklahoma state legislators. They give Rep. Meloyde Blancett, for example, a 28 (out of 100) for 2026, so she's clearly not well aligned with OCPA's principles! 😄

Looking for a good one that has a nice comfy vibe. A good place to study for classes and hang out and read for fun.

Question Local places that can brand carabiners?
Question is in the title. Need 100+ purple carabiners with our logo on it so that we can promote our next event happening in May.
Would prefer a local business before shelling out a bunch of cash to one of these online places. Does anywhere come to mind?
Must be queer friendly 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Question ITR Spicy Mayo / Pub W Spicy Aioli
Yeah… I’m desperate. Weirdly desperate which is why I find myself asking here.
As the title states we’re talking mayonnaise here. The infamous instrument.
I am in love with ITR’s spicy mayo and Pub W’s spicy aioli. Like, I think I could put it on a spit shined dog turd and be a happy man.
Does ANYONE have any clue as to what the recipes might be? I asked last time at Pub W and the waiter didn’t seem to be too willing to share which I totally understand.
If someone does know it, and feels so gracious to share, I will personally reward you with a 20% off voucher to Celebration Station along with an all you can eat pass at Casa Bonita!!
