Hi everyone!

I’m an international student currently exploring universities, and Tulane has really caught my eye. I'm interested in majoring in Molecular Biology or Chemistry, and the academic programs look fantastic. However, as someone coming from outside the U.S., I’ve been feeling a bit anxious reading online about safety risks and crime rates around New Orleans.

I’d love to hear from current students, (especially international ones), about how safe you actually feel on and around campus day-to-day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

hey all, i’m a freshman at loyola chicago, double majoring in finance and philosophy. i’m looking at tulane as a sophomore transfer and would like an honest picture of life at the college.

a few things i’d love input on:

transfer experience: how easy is it to build a friend group coming in as a sophomore? is transfer housing decent, or are you mostly off campus right away?

1. freeman / finance: how strong is recruiting for finance roles, especially outside new orleans (nyc, chicago)? do students actually land good internships?
2. startups / entrepreneurship: i build software and have a couple of projects going. is there a real founder scene here, or is it mostly resume clubs?
3. academics: can you double major across, say, freeman and the school of liberal arts without it becoming a scheduling nightmare? more specifically, how’s the philosophy department?
4. work-life balance: people say “work hard, play hard.” is it possible to stay 'locked in' academically and still have a social life, or does the party culture take over?

I am an international student who intends to apply for ED1 Tulane in BS Computer Science with AI minor. I acknowledge that this is a very new major in Tulane, which was just started last year. I prefer a research-oriented path over an applied one. So can anyone give me some advises about this major in Tulane, is it worth to pursue.

(UPDATED STATS): My absolute dream school is Tulane. It always has been and I would genuinely do anything to go here. I’m planning to ED but the thing is my gpa is on the lower side. Around a 3.2. I’m OOS from a very prestigious high school and I know it sounds unrealistic but I’ve heard success stories before. I had a rough freshman year I had like a 2.7. But I have additional info abt taking care of a family member when my mom had mental health issues and wouldn’t seek help. And then sophomore I raised it and got 3.5 and junior a 3.6/7. I have lots of extracurriculars, 200-300 meaningful hours of volunteering, jobs, internships, family real estate business hooks (which is what I’m planning to do), hopefully a good essay. I don’t need any aid, we can pay. I’ve done campus visit, attended every virtual meeting they had, emailed admissions with questions, am attending a meet with my admissions counselor as they are coming to my area in 2 months. Gonna have to go test optional tho w a 27.

Social media for graduation comity (1 year)
Class president for student council (2 years)

I just accepted admission for Jan 2027. Where are the black and queer folks? :p

Parking pass? Is a commuter pass transferable? Could you use it if you live on campus?

Hi, prospective freshman here! I know Tulane is a big demonstrated interest school, but what are the best ways to show interest? I’m signed up for a local info session in my state, i’ve attended a couple virtual events, and i applied for CPD but was rejected. What else should i be doing?

Looking into applying to Tulane EA/ED for the business program. Saw a stat that has me concerned because other undergraduate business schools of similar or higher caliber do not have these class gpa maximums. Core classes of 2.7-3.0 and electives of 3.0-3.3. Anyone have knowledge or experience of how this actually works? I know of the stern curve at nyu. Curious if this policy is deflationary and creates similar competitiveness between students? USC Marshall has no such policy.

I applied to Tulane ED last year and was rejected. I am having a really hard time at my current school and I want to transfer into Tulane this year. Tulane normally only does spring transfers for sophomores and above , and I am a freshman. Is it worth emailing transfer admissions to ask if they would make and exemption and consider me for the spring?

Whats the easiest way to get the foreign language credit for Tulane? Is it easier if I do study aboard or just take the class on campus?

Noticed that Tulane switched it's Net Price Calculator website provider from clearcost in August to meadowfi now. With it, the sibling discount seems to have disappeared, even though their financial aid website mentions it. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the same. My HS senior still gets a tiny institutional grant based on their ACT and GPA, but the sibling discount disappearance has made Tulane prohibitively expensive compared to pretty much every selective and comparable private school. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hey guys, quick look at where the Wave stand after a wild one at Yulman.

24-21 over Southern Miss, and it took everything. Down 21-14 in the third, Tulane closed to 21-17 on a Helmke field goal, then Maurice Turner broke a 74-yard TD with 5:26 left. He finished with 200 yards and two scores on just 12 carries. Then TJ Smith blocked a 21-yard field goal with 1:45 left to save it.

At 2-2, the losses are both road games against Power 4 teams, at Duke and Kansas State, and both wins came at home. The bye comes at a good time before American play opens at Army on Oct 10, then Memphis at home on a Friday night.

Since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em, and Week 5 is open. 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Good slate too, with Bama at Miss State (both unbeaten) and Ohio State at unbeaten Iowa. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, and the Wave are off this week.

I was looking at study abroad programs when I stumbled upon the Stacy Mandel Palagye and Keith Palagye Program for Middle East Peace. Considering my major interests, this program seems perfect for me. Does anyone know how competitive it is or what the application process is like?

I saw that Tulane was doing a ABSN program that allows you to graduate debt free if you work in a Louisiana hospital for 2 years post grad. Does anyone know have any experience with this program or any information? Does it guarantee a job post grad? How is nursing in Louisiana?

How welcoming and inclusive is the overall environment for international students? Is it easy to build a solid social circle outside of international student groups, or do domestic and international populations tend to stick to separate social spheres?

What does the financial aid landscape look like for international applicants? Are merit scholarships realistically attainable, and how competitive are they?

I wanna fit in, not to “show off” my culture if not asked ofc. and i think im kinda chill and friendly 🤷‍♀️

Never been to therapy before but I’ve always heard that it’s worth it, so I’m considering giving it a shot. I see that CAPS provides individual student therapy services, does anyone have any experience with this?
