Configuration Share your steam input tricks
I'm kinda lazy so i never go beyond basic stuff like gyro aim or trackpad as mouse, but I'm curious about more complex setups

Received email Friday after five pm local, ordered within 10 minutes.
Arrived Monday morning while tracking said Tuesday!
Gotten to try it out yesterday afternoon and have to say I’m in love! It’s very comfy to hold, not heavy, nice and responsive to inputs.
Now looking for a storage/travel case that allows charging in the case with the puck (similar to Xbox elite). Attached is the complementary picture of box. Can’t wait to be done working today.

Will valve sell pucks separately? I have my puck placed beside my computer on the desk but would like an extra one to keep on my bedside table so I can alternate charging locations whether im at the desk or im in bed using my projector hooked up to my computer.

I just got my steam controller in, pretty happy with how fast it got here and etc however the default deadzone is just barely enough to stop the right stick from drifting upwards, if I put a literal feather weight of pressure on it, it immediately works to push upwards, which okay I'd expect from TMR sticks however it takes 5x as much pressure to move the stick in any other direction, so there's a centering bias straight out of the box.
Totally usable but there's seemingly no way to calibrate the stick centering and improve circularity, only increase the deadzone which yes will make the issue less pronounced but doesn't inherently improve the circularity.
Is this a common thing? I've not really bought a new controller in like 8 years 😂

A few days ago, I realized that some of the controllers marked to ship out starting 2027 had been getting earlier purchase windows, but I'd missed it because I don't usually check the email I use for steam (except for things like that). I asked about it, and was shunted right back to the front and able to purchase it within an hour, getting it on Wednesday.

Hello everyone if this conversation already exists I apologize but I wanted to know if you have guides or suggestions on how to configure the trackpad in the best way even on action games. I saw videos of people who optimized it for the classic weapon or skill wheel but I couldn’t replicate it. Does anyone know how to do it? Or even other suggestions?
How do you use trackpads?

I have been working on a prototype game fully utilizing all the Steam Controller (2026) inputs. I am at the point where I have 100% confidence the idea is feasible, and I have lots of ideas.
I have to wonder though, how many people would play a game that requires a Steam Controller? There is a lot that can be done with it, but I am thinking it should also be playable on mouse and keyboard, and maybe other controllers too.
Without a doubt, the more people that can play it, the more people will. But I also think that the more accessible it is, the less unique/enjoyable it may become.

Hi, so for the last like 5 years whenever I've played on pc I always used a nintendo switch controller, and it's always worked basically flawlessly. However recently for the last few days it's been doing this weird thing where whenever I press the windows button or the volume button or I alt tab etc, it like freaks out and does a bunch of random stuff? I thought at first it was spamming tab constantly but I'm not so sure now since it's been doing things like opening settings and turning night light on too.
Now it still works fine when playing games as far as I can tell, it's just whenever I do the above it basically makes it impossible to control the windows menus thingies. I've attempted a lot things to fix it but it feels like I can't find anything online about my specific issue. Actually one thing I tried worked which was having a game opened and then opening task manager, but for some reason the next time I tried it it didn't work.
The only thing I could possibly think that could've cause this is that the power went out while it was connected to my pc a few days ago but idk if that has anything to do with it as everything else I have works fine. I should note I am using it wired and I would like to avoid using wireless as I've been unable to do it in the past. I've tried using a different cable, plugging the cable into a different usb port. I've also tried changing come controller settings on steam including steam input and the non-game controller layouts however none of those did anything.
I'd really appreciate if you can help since I'd rather keep using the switch pro controller instead of using a different controller and I need the ability to change tabs easily. I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this so if you know a better subreddit please let me know. Thanks in advance! (idk what to tag this sorry)

ETA: SOLVED, thank you all!
....BUT I am giving it as a gift to my fiance. Due to account restrictions I know I can only order one. I was wondering if there is a way to change the account it is under after it arrives? If not, no biggy, I'll order under his some other day, but was kinda hoping there would be. I can't find anything on the support site pertaining to this.

Not sure if anyone has tried using their Steam Controller with MW4. Can't get the in-game motion settings to work for the controller for gyro. Do I have to set it up in Steam Input vs in MW4?
r/SteamController • u/Griffin_Wood_EN • 23h ago
Like, does it start seeking and reconnect automatically after it's plugged back in, or does it require manual intervention? I ask because a project I'm working on. Generally the more I talk the less I do it so I'm not gonna talk about it until it's further along. But I don't have a controller to test this with.

Just wondering if anyone has noticed that when using steam less controller software the rumble seems a lot more punchy and noticeable in games outside of steam? Playing Gears E over game pass I noticed it almost instantly. When I use it with a steam game it just seems weaker or a lot less pronounced.

Hello, good day. I have the controller above and am hoping someone could share a video tutorial on how to set up rapid fire or turbo for my Steam 2 controller.

I play on the couch, have used controller most of my life. I tend to move frequently when gaming, readjusting my seating position, moving my hands to the sides, they are not always over my lap or facing the screen, sometimes controller is facing high up, or to the side so there is not a lot more i can rotate it to that specific side with gyro for example. Is that something i gotta get used to for using gyro, like keeping my hands more steady/less mobile, or increasing the sensitivity of it? I have gyro and stick controlling the camera, since my idea is to mainly use the stick and adjust it with gyro. Just wondering what helped others that were new to gyro to get used to it or some issues they run into and how they fixed it

I've always preferred mouse and keyboard for most games but the steam controller has been so good for using my desktop from the couch. Honestly it's one of the best home theatre/desktop remotes by a mile.
Currently using it to flag words, and sentences to add to my Japanese flashcard deck with the jiten.moe mpv addon as well as grade them from the player and thanks to the steam controller I can do it all from my couch instead of spending all day at my PC or having to balance my mouse on the tiny arm of my couch.
The track pads are so nice for general desktop use and having the ability to remap each button as a hotkey is huge for me. The keyboard is perfectly usable too without taking up any extra space.
Anyone else using their controller more for non-gaming stuff?

The back paddles are mostly fine but occasionally make a weird snapping/clicking sound, but when it's opened up, it appears that these are just plastic parts (Pic 1) pressing down on metal switches (Pic 2). These are from the GamersNexus teardown video.
My question: Since this is not some sort of electrical or magnetic contact, could I put some tape between the contact points to dampen the sound?
Where does the "click" come from? If it's from the metal switches themselves, then the tape wouldn't matter. But if it's the contact between the plastic and metal, perhaps that would dampen it?
Thanks for any help.
