"They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And I will make them pay for what they've done!"

Given how old the galaxy is and how many stars are in it, Federation space and the surrounding star systems are remarkably mundane. We know that by the late 2300s the Federation spans around 8,000 light years in 2 dimensions, but space is 3 dimensional, and it stands to reason that since the thickness of the Milky Way is 1,000 to 2,000 light years, the thickness has been completely explored.
Now, before we get into actual calculations, Federation space is only a fraction of explored space, but I'll keep that out of the calculation for now. Lets assume a simple square of 8,000 x 8,000 light years with an average thickness of 1,000 light years. That is a volume of 64 billion light years. Some googling indicates that there are around 0.0025 star systems per cubic light year. The math gets a little fuzzy, but sticking with the numbers indicates a floor somewhere around 175 million star systems, and a ceiling around 250 million star systems.
Its hard to fathom how Starfleet is large enough to really explore all those systems. Its equally as hard to fathom how much chaos there is out there. Sometimes I think the writers really under utilized this info, if they even considered it at all.

An epic two parter, best candidate being Caretaker where Picard, Sisko and Janeway meet on DS9 to deal with the Maquis/Cardassian situation that could intertwine Pre-emptive Strike and Defiant/For the Cause.

Hey everyone! Elite Force was one of my favorite childhood games. I just released a MacOS port covering both single and multiplayer, with a bunch of modernizations (like automatic router port forwarding for online play hosting, a server browser outside of the game, Retina display support, widescreen, etc).
You do need a copy of the game, it will prompt you to import it. The Windows version is fine to import. There is no copyrighted material in the download.
Would love it if anyone wants to play around with it and try it out and give any feedback!

Which episode showcases the character best?

I've been a Star Trek fan for about 25 years now. Sky One in the UK used to show TNG/VOY/DS9 in order with one episode every day, so I watched all three shows multiple times over the years. So I thought I'd seen every episode of TNG/VOY/DS9.
But I recently read about a TNG episode that I don't recognise at all, "Identity Crisis" from season 4. The plot says it's about Geordi slowly turning into an alien, but I don't remember that at all. It seems like I must have missed this episode despite watching the series multiple times.
Apparently it's a highly rated episode as well.
Crazy that I've never seen this episode or even heard about it until now. Looking forward to watching it.

She isn't really the "nerdy" type. Never thought she'd care much for the show, but that was my own faulty assumption. She came to sit down while I was watching and now she's hooked!

So I just finished my first "non-modern" Star Trek show in Voyager (I've watched DIS and SNW). Its an amazing show, I love the characters deeply and I really dont like to move on, but... what is the logical next step? I assume its DS9 but I dont know how much I'll like it as its quite the different setting to VOY, is it really as good as I've heard here and there?

Please don't attack me. I love nearly all of Trek.
Currently on my second bi-annual TNG re-watch, and just heard:
I never learned to speak hypothetical
That was in response to a hypothetical question from Riker in episode "Unification II" (Season 5, Episode 8) which was written by Michael Piller (RIP)
OK, so.. assuming we all love Trek, and the fandom is not going to freaking kill me for asking a question.. are there any one-liners as good as that?

What would be your alternate bridge crew for Voyager? for example are there any TNG characters who would have fit in like Thomas Riker? Ro Laren was definitely considered by the writers but the actress apparently did not want the role
For me, I think it would have been interesting to have seen a Federation-Cardassian alliance on the ship, with Gul Evek and his ship pulled across with Voyager

I believe the Animated Series wasn't declared cannon until maybe 10 years ago.

I am re-watching Lower Decks, and a thought just occurred to me...
Is this how a group of folks would play a post-TNG Trek RPG?

So we’ve all seen scenes where the night watch is relieved at the start of the day shift. My question is this.
Ensign Kim is seen doing the night watch. Is this a rotation or does he night watch every night? How does he participate in senior staff meetings if he’s also on the night watch?
Data. Makes sense since he doesn’t sleep. But does Data immediately assume his daytime position after the night watch? Is he always on night watch? Does data have to work twice as many hours as the other officers simply because he can?
How does night watch work in Star Trek and how does it work on any other naval type ship?

I get why the Director’s Edition of TMP changed the line but I think I prefer the Theatrical version that shows Kirk as a little scared/frustrated with jumping right back into the captain’s chair. Upgraded to an OLED and Atmos setup and put on the 4K Blu Ray and this transfer looks and sounds incredible.

Simple question: What are some scary episodes you like?
They don't necessarily need to be the "horror" episodes that Trek has done over the years. But, also, hey, if you love "Catspaw," no judgement. For example, I still find "The Best of Both Worlds" pretty dang scary. The sense of dread over a looming, unstoppable Borg apocalypse is still pretty chilling and thrilling stuff to me.
For individual moments, I think the best "jump scare" in the entire franchise is when Dr. Crusher finds herself surrounded by corpses that suddenly sit up in "Night Terrors."
Also, I think the body-horror aspects of "Threshold" actually work pretty well--the thunderingly dumb ending of the episode notwithstanding, I enjoy that one.
What are your favorites?

With Strange New Worlds wrapped and it not looking like Trek will be back until early next year, we're kicking the franchise rewatch off again. As a reminder, we're going by release rather than production order!
