Also, Boo Radley's, Petunia and Loomis, and Atticus are amazing, and tourists should stop by each store.

Vote against I-638.

Question Lunch Suggestions for 70-year olds?

My mom and her siblings go out twice a month for lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. It's their time to connect. Each time, a different sibling picks the place.

This is how my mom has broken down past excursions:
• Aunt 1 picks places that feel like truck stops
• Aunt 2 picks independent local joints
• Uncle 1 picks Arby's in the valley
• Uncle 2 does Applebee's, Red Robin, and similar places
• My mom doesn't really go out much so she just suggests Arby's as well - but somehow I convinced her to take them to Fergusons, the Milk Bottle, Pete's Pizza, and some other local restaurants she associates with my dad.

They are in their 70's and realize "eventually one will pass. Then the next, and so on." So the outing is more important than the place - but they have all lived here their entire lives, living simply, and it's nice that they see new places.

Here are their simple guidelines:
• They are simple - burger and fries, burritos, etc.
• They want to keep it to roughly $15ish per person.
• They prefer places where they can hear each other talk.
• There are about 7 of them after you add their partners.

Other notes:
• I want to help them find places with a vibe
• They do not drink alcohol in any form

Any suggestions?!

Thanks in advance!

EDITS:

  1. I should mention they are aiming for restaurants over cafes or other spaces.
  2. they live in Hillyard, the valley, and West Central (if this helps!)
  3. Truly thank you to everyone throwing suggestions! I truly appreciate it!!!

Question Free things to do during week days?

Well- I've recently found myself on the receiving end of quite a bit of free time. While a lot of it will be going towards fixing my brain I find myself anxious at the prospect of not knowing what each day will look like for the next few months.

I've looked at the library schedules for activities, bookmarked art exhibits/galleries/museums, & decided to reorganize my living space but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of places I could find free Mon-Fri (like 8am-3pm type) activities or if you knew of any to fill the void.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone have info about this area? Why is there a boat launch and other recreation equipment there? Is this a private lake in the middle of Spokane?

Such an amazing place on Earth that I wish everyone in Spokane could experience.

I haven't been since a summer home from college many years ago if I'm being honest, but making this map and thinking about it makes me want to get back.

I remember one particular hike from my friend's cabin that took about hour to walk as a loop, and it was like a dream weaving in and out of rays of sunshine filtering through the trees. 30-ish years later and I still think about it all the time.

Question Parking

Hello I'm due soon, and was wondering if anyone knew where to park near or at the hospital at Sacred Heart for free or cheap. Potentially for a few days. We lucked out last time and didn't pay anything because we parked near where hospital staff parked but I dont think we will have that luck this time. Parking near the women's center is getting expensive. And the parking garage by the children's part is always full.

ToDo Valley Lunch Date Ideas

Going to be in town with my wife for an appointment early afternoon and looking for some lunch date ideas with my wife. Will have our youngest with us (1 y/o, 25% of our kids). Not unfamiliar with the area, but it’s been a while with some free almost one on one time with my wife (see previous sentence). Figured I’d check for some good casual lunch date ideas in the valley area and try to be a halfway decent spouse.

Question Recommendation for company for HVAC service contract? Old company went out of business in December.

Post image
6 Upvotes

***Edit: OH MY! I googled ‘Cline’s Heating Reviews’ and saw a warning I haven’t seen before: “Suspicious high-rated reviews were recently removed from this place” with a red triangle. I clicked for more details, screen went black and warning dialogue box popped up that says:

“Posting reviews is turned off for this place.

Google has temporarily turned off posting reviews due to a recent increase in suspicious high-rated reviews. The suspicious reviews were removed and the rating updated.”***

Recently moved into mobile home in West Central, Mom had annual contract with Air Control, was happy with them and liked Melvin (Marvin?) the Service guy. I called them to renew and to schedule the fall service and learn learned that they went out of business in December and sold their phone number to Cline’s (when I called the phone number). They don’t have any of the records, just the phone number.

So if I’m going to start from scratch, I thought I’d check here for feedback about Clines and for recommendations.

I don’t really need to hear that it’s a waste of time or I can do it myself… I’m living here now and I need to have the heat pump system and the gas furnace system checked out for safety and the peace of mind over the next year of knowing that a service and repair is just a call away with a company, who knows my system.

If it matters, it’s a Goodman 16 SEER air pump system with a gas furnace also.

Thanks!

Politics Spokane County Clerk

I sat down with both candidates for Spokane County Clerk to do Donuts for Democracy.

Dave Lucas

https://youtu.be/N6Xn9Q23CDA

and

Elliot Robison

https://youtu.be/4bdEqSL_dNk

I am thankful for both candidates joining me for an in depth conversation and I hope that these videos help voters make an informed decision. It is rather obvious to me that one candidate has far more practical experience for the job and a much firmer grasp of the role the Clerk plays and how to execute it effectively but I am curious what you think, and who you will be voting for.

Question Looking for firewood

I’m sure people Facebook marketplace have it but I’m not on FB so here I am.

Looking for 1/4-1/2 cord of split, dry and tamarack to be delivered and pricing. Anyone have leads? I also have a small truck so I can pick up too, but I’ve never had a house with a fireplace and I’m not sure how many trips it would take.

Thanks

I’ve got a couple of tickets for the Zags game this Wednesday. Would love to sell them to a fan that hasn’t had a chance to see a game in The Kennel.

Tipoff is at 6pm against LC State.

Seats have a great view of the game and student section, in the upper level behind GU’s bench.

Price is $120 for the pair which is face value plus fees payable via Venmo, CashApp or Zelle.

If you’re interested reply with your favorite all-time Zag and I’ll pick someone tonight around 9pm.
