Samsung Q990 without satelites == Q900 or not? Please enlighten me

I'd like to buy Samsung HW-Q900 (H or F) soundbar. 7.1.2 with sub.

It is i unavailable in my location, even Samsung can't ship it.

Higher model, Q990 comes with 2 additional rear speakers (11.1.4), which I can't use in my apartament.

Samsung salesman said that using the satelites is not mandatory and I don't have to plug them.

I heard that buying this model and not using the satelites will completely remove part of the sound/channels and sound worse than Q900 (that is controversial for me?).

Samsung technitian denied that, and said its not true, but her answer was vauge. How it really is? I would already pull the trigger on q900 if I could. Should I buy q990 and use without the satelites? Is it the same bar or not?

What is important to me - will it sound exactly the same as q900?

AI, which I don't trust, but it has some logic in its answer says:

"The Q900H is designed around a 7.1.2 configuration, so its intended presentation is also based on a soundbar and subwoofer rather than separate rear speakers.

The key point: the Q990H without satellites may still sound excellent for Atmos, but you should not assume that it will reproduce every Atmos effect identically to the Q900H."

Sub crawl

Just got a jbl 1300x, new tv and have my couch set up in the middle of my basement room cause its kinda a long room. I was kinda undewhelmed with the bass and heard everyone saying how crazy the bass was from this 12 inch sub. Read on some places that you should do a sub crawl so gave it a shot and now the low bass has came to life!!! Initially had the sub next to the tv in the corner of room, now in back or room corner and what a difference. If anyone may have this problem highly reccomend crawling around the room haha.

Sony Sony Bravia Theatre System 6

Hello all, I recently bought Bravia's theatre system 6 and after installing and watching a movie on it doesn't feel as great as it did in the best buy store. I connected to the earc port on my TV which supports both Dolby and DTS and watched a movie on Netflix that has pretty good sounds effects and action, but it felt no different than my desktop speakers at high volume. The only difference here is it has base. My living room is pretty small, and I placed the rear speakers sound bar and sub as recommended. Also, the Dolby sound effect is not great. It doesn't feel like how it feels in the theatre. One upside is the dialogue clarity is excellent even though I didn't put it on dialogue mode.

Am I expecting too much from this system or do I have to tweak anything on the Bravia app for better experience?

Any suggestions on this are highly appreciated and if you have a better product recommendation, I am open for it as I can still return this one.

Samsung Is it worth it to switching from Samsung HW-K950 to a newer model?

I just bought a new TV (LG C5), which supports Dolby vision. But the soundbar doesn't support Dolby vision pass through and it doesn't support Dolby Atmos on hdmi ARC, which is a really bad combination when you have an Apple TV as your only source of content. In short, without extra equipment, I can't get Dolby vision and Dolby atmos simultaneously.

So my question is: Do the newer Samsung soundbars have noteworthy better sound compared to the HW-K950? And do atmos on these soundbars make much of a difference?

JBL 1300 MK2 vs. Sonos Arc Ultra

Hey there

I am looking for something to replace my current Sonos Beam Gen 1.

These are my 2 current favorites but i do have a challenge with the subwoofer (not a good placement option)

But my general question with the subwoofer is not so much for cinema evenings, but just normal tv watching while kids are sleeping in the rooms next by.

While watching normal tv, without the need for surround etc., are dialogues etc. still good at a very low sound level?

If not, the Arc Ultra somehow seems more appealing to my living room situation.

I dont want to spend so much money without checking at least sone opinions with you guys :)

Samsung Q990H or Core 300

What should I choose sansung Q990h or flexus core 300? I understand that flexus comes without a rear and a subwoofer, but I have a small room(25 м²) and the neighbors won't appreciate my cool subwoofer. That's why I'm leaning towards flexus. But the Q990 is highly praised here, so I'm in doubt.🤔

Hisense AX5125H vs Ultimea Skywave F40 boom?

Hey guys, i am not an audiophile but have recently been wanting to get a surround sound system. My living room isnt too big so i figure a budget friendly option might be best. I initially wanted something under 200 euros/dollars but reviews have taken me away from those products. I’ve narrowed it down to these two. Any recommendations for me on which is better? I like crisp sound with strong bass but not so much that it overpowers all other sound. I also like the option of being able to only use the soundbar in some instances, so that is also a factor. Any help would be appreciate!

Samsung HW-Q60CF Review: My Experience So Far

I recently picked up a used Samsung HW-Q60CF/ZA with the wireless subwoofer for about $180, and I wanted to share my experience because I have not seen this model discussed very much.

For context, I'm using it with a Samsung 55" M70H Mini LED TV. This is my first time really getting into the home audio side of things, so I've been experimenting quite a bit with the different sound modes and settings.

Sound Quality

Overall, I'm really enjoying it. Coming from an older Samsung HW-J6000, I find the Q60CF noticeably clearer, especially with dialogue. Movies sound immersive, and the soundstage can feel surprisingly wide for a soundbar with no dedicated rear speakers.

It did take me a bit of time to figure out the settings I actually liked. I've experimented with Surround mode, DTS Virtual, and the bass and subwoofer levels. I'm still figuring out what works best for different types of content, but I've enjoyed the results so far.

Bass and subwoofer

The included subwoofer adds a lot to the experience, especially with movies and music. I personally enjoy a bass-heavy sound, so I've been adjusting the levels to get the kind of impact I like. The ability to tweak the bass and subwoofer independently has been useful.

Surround sound and Dolby Atmos

I've enjoyed experimenting with the different sound modes. Surround mode gives the audio a more spacious feel, while DTS Virtual can make certain tracks sound more three-dimensional. Obviously, virtual surround isn't the same as having dedicated rear speakers, but I think the effect is enjoyable.

I've also tested Dolby Atmos with some Apple TV Movies, and the soundbar will display "DOLBY ATMOS" when available, and thats a nice little feature.

Settings and Q-Symphony

One thing worth mentioning is that it took me a few days of experimenting to get everything configured the way I wanted. There are quite a few settings to play around with, and I'm still learning what works best for me.

I initially used Q-Symphony with my Samsung TV, but after a few days, I decided to disable it. I'd rather use the soundbar on its own instead of combining its output. That's just my personal preference, but I wanted to hear what the soundbar itself could do.

Things I like

  • Clear dialogue and enjoyable overall sound
  • A dedicated subwoofer that adds impact to movies and music
  • Virtual surround effects that can make content feel more immersive
  • Dolby Atmos support
  • Plenty of settings to experiment with
  • Good value

Things I'm still figuring out

I've experienced some audio synchronization issues with my setup, so I've had to experiment with the audio delay settings. I'm not sure whether the issue comes from the soundbar, the TV or the way everything is configured, so I wouldn't necessarily blame the soundbar alone.

I'm also still learning which sound modes work best for different content. I don't think theres one setting that is going to sound best for everyone.

Final thoughts

For $180 used, I'm happy with my purchase. It took a bit of experimenting to get the settings where I wanted them, but I've really enjoyed the sound quality so far. I think it's worth considering for someone looking for an affordable Samsung soundbar with a subwoofer and Dolby Atmos support.

I haven't tested every soundbar in this price range, so I can't confidently say its the best option available. This is simply my experience as someone whos recently started getting more interested in home audio.

I'd love to hear from other HW-Q60CF owners. What sound modes and settings do you use, and have you found anything that noticeably improves the sound?

Samsung Soundbar or something Else ?(large room)

Hello everyone,

I own an LG C4 77” OLED TV, but I don’t currently have an external sound system. The TV’s built-in speakers aren’t bad and have served me well so far, but now I’m looking to upgrade my audio setup.

Room: Approximately 45 sqm, rectangular (combined living and dining area) with high ceilings. The TV is positioned along one of the shorter walls, while the opposite short wall consists of a floor-to-ceiling glass front leading out to the terrace.

Usage: Primarily for movies and series (mostly via streaming, occasionally 4K Blu-ray) and gaming. It would be a nice bonus if it could handle music reasonably well for the occasional party, though that’s not a top priority—I can always use my JBL Bluetooth speaker for that.

I’m not a fan of cable management, so I’d prefer to avoid rear speakers; they would have to be placed behind the sofa, right in the middle of the room. With two small children, having speaker stands that could easily be knocked over isn’t exactly ideal.

As for the space in front of the TV, there’s room on either side for speakers, but that would leave no room for a subwoofer—unless it were placed in front of the TV, which wouldn’t be a great solution either.

I’m well aware that a proper 5.1 (or similar) home cinema system usually outperforms a soundbar, but everything has to be weighed against one’s own specific requirements. In my research, I came across the Samsung HW-Q810-GH—a long soundbar that sits under the TV, paired with a subwoofer. It’s compact, discreet, and seems to tick a lot of boxes, especially given the consistently high ratings it receives. My budget is flexible for now; I’d really appreciate your help and advice, as I’m not very well-informed in this area.

Is there a better soundbar combination available? Would you generally recommend a different type of setup for my situation—and if so, which one?
