THE BANK HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN BEATEN! SHINY TYPE: NULL #19, YOU ARE MINE!

Wow, what a journey. It's finally over. My first shiny Type: Null came all the way back in 2018; #2 came in 2023 and it's been three long years of grinding. Every Wormhole Legendary is done, every Vivillon pattern is done, and this ridiculous quest to get 19 Shiny Type: Null is done.

The final shiny Type: Null appears after 23363 encounters. It appeared only 1080 encounters and five days after Type: Null #18. I was ready to take this another 12000 encounters. I heard all of the horror stories of 30k, 40k, 50k, 60k hunts. I had to believe I wouldn't be one of them, and I was rewarded. This final Type: Null was the longest shiny hunt of my life, but it felt so fitting for it to be so.

EDIT: I totally forgot to mention (this is nuts), my total global Type: Null encounters for the 19 shiny Type: Null: 77743. ODDS for 19 1/4096 shinies: 77824. I FINISHED 81 ENCOUNTERS UNDER ODDS! WOW! MATH, AM I RIGHT?! 🫠

And the most common question I get:

WHY 19?!

It's for my Shiny Living Form Dex. 1 shiny Type: Null, 18 shiny Silvally for all of the different memory types. I will not be answering this question again in the comments 😂

After 5000+ soft resets and 10000 encounters, I've finally found my siny Dratini!

After around 430 in-game hours and many more irl, my journey has come to an end! This took 30 months and a lot has happened between that time, I plan to make a YouTube video on it soon :)

Started this hunt on two copies a week ago, and suddenly I'm bombarded with three phases with a day of each other (all in HeartGold, seems SoulSilver is slacking...). Almost had a panic attack when my Smeargle's Spore failed because I didn't know the level 4 Hoothoot it transformed into had Insomnia, but luckily it went into the first Heavy Ball without issue.

(Probably gonna rename it to the kanji for "Masuda", for obvious reasons)

I started leafgreen on my Oled switch and firered on my switch 2 when they were released back in February 🤠. My shortest hunt was growlith (168 REs) and longest was abra (32,606 seen in game corner)

My first 1/8192 hunt is finally over, it took me almost a month and 10.842 reset, I'm so happy

I have been waiting for so long just to transfer this guy on Scarlet😎

Long story short, I have been hunting for a Male Shiny Scrafty in White 2, in the Route 18 dark grass.
Through the use of repel trick with a lvl 66 lead, and Lucky Power S, scrafty has approx. a 44.94% encounter rate in the dark grass on route 18. My lead is also female with cute charm, so theoretically, 5/6 Scrafty I see should be male.
I have now passed over 15,000 encounters, and gotten 2 shiny throh, and....drumroll please...... 3 shiny female scrafty. (an odd thing to note was that all were caught from a double battle encounter, but that could just be coincidence)
If my math is right, with cute charm working properly, If I were to catch 3 shiny scrafty, on 200 different occasions, only about 1 of those occasions would have all females.
To top that off, since I have charm, and have Lucky power S active, my shiny odds are 1/2048.

Take everything into account.....
.4494 * (1/6) * (1/2048)
Each encounter has about a ~1/27343 chance of being a shiny female scrafty, A roll I have now hit 3 times in less than 60% of the "odds"
whereas a shiny male scrafty has about ~1/5468 of being encountered

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or am I just that unlucky?

Editors note: For anyone that may want to hunt this scrafty for themselves, but is afraid of the recoil moves like Head Smash and (potentially) High Jump kick, get yourselves a reuniclus with Magic Guard and skill swap. Skill swapping Magic Guard to the scrafty prevents the recoil from headsmash and missing HJK This also helps in the event that the scrafty has shed skin, allowing you to keep a status on it more easily. (it also helps prevent scrafty from boosting it's attack with moxie in the event you have weak mons in the front)

Back when I first played b2w2 as a a kid, Scraggy/Scrafty was one of the most beloved members of my team.
Not sure exactly when/how, but I had lost my gen5 copy, and I was doing this hunt to honor my love of shiny hunting, and to honor the scrafty I had all that time ago.

I've been doing this hunt since just before the start of October. It's more fortunate since yesterday was my birthday, so talk about a late present. I probably reset for this shiny over a thousand times. The only thing I regret is not catching the sparkles since I was distracted from a show I was watching.😂 Anyway, I finally have my prize to send to HOME at long last!

So after 61 days, my second team member finally shined, onto the next one!

Ps : Might take awhile, because I have decided to do the nugget bridge glitch, just so I can purchase all the vitamins needed for all my 6 Pokémon 😅

After about 5 days of reset hunting finally got pheromosa. 3 of 11 shiny ultra beasts found!

I am currently starting to hunt shiny mew and this being my first Emerald hunt I was wondering, how do you take breaks during these hunts? Since rng is broken in Emerald do you sometimes let the game run a while then start or something like that.

So ive been hunting for years but never all that seriously, but I’ve noticed that the longer a hunt goes on for, the longer my eyes almost deceive me and I often have to double take whether a Pokemon is shiny even when it’s not. For this reason (and because I like shiny’s that stand out more) Ive only ever gone for ones that are clearly different (i.e. Lugia, celebi, latias, etc)

Ive been trying for the crystal shiny celebi for over 2 years but irregularly like only a few encounters here and there, but since bank is closing in February i decided to finally lock in and get it (just shined today at 5592 SR’s but I didn’t actually start counting until a couple months ago), and then move onto darkrai since it’s one of my favourite Pokemon

My concern is that if I have to double take in case I accidentally miss a shiny celebi or a shiny Lugia, what if I actually do miss when darkrai shines given how it barely changes compared to my other hunts?

Is this something you guys have experienced too? If so how do you manage it?

It was crazy scary using self destruct on it, but I had no one on my team who could even damage the ugly thing, besides the pinecone. Sure I had a master all in the bag so that wasn't necessary but I really wanted to catch it without using it, and of course I had tested and knew sudotree could survive even a crit, but nonetheless it wasn't comfortable.

But I caught it on a great ball by the end! Now I only need to figure out what to name it! I'm thinking "Cherry" or "Sakura"
