Hey,
I was kinda annoyed with the temperatur dummy gauge, already had an Veepeak OBD adapter, didn't want to wire additional things around in the car + didn't want a phone running all the time.
Also I am just rationalizing tinkering around on a rainy weekend.
Anyway, came up with a little wireless gauge that connectes to the existing adapter over BLE, and figured I’d share it.
It runs on a round ESP32 touch display and connects directly to a Veepeak BLE OBD adapter. Similar adapters should work as well, tho I have not tested them.
Coolant is the main reading, and you can tap to switch to MAF. In principle other exposed values work as well.
So far, it's okish tested in simulation (based on captured raw telemetry), basically verified and works in the car so far. But it is still very much a prototype and work in progres.
I’m also designing a removable cradle; that hasn’t been printed/tested yet. The fancy picture is a render.
Firmware, simulator and CAD are all open source / public domain. Maybe this is useful for somebody.
