EDIT 3:07 p.m. ET: Thank y’all for showing up with these amazing questions! It really underscores how thoughtful the Bulwark community is. I wish I could spend another two hours here, but there is an election next week and I really should get back to reporting :) See you all next time.

Hi r/politics!
I'm Lauren Egan, a political reporter at The Bulwark, where I write The Opposition newsletter and cover the Democratic Party, electoral politics, and the battle over how Democrats can win back power in Washington.
With the November midterms just eight days away, I've been reporting on the candidates, campaigns, and strategists shaping some of the most competitive races in the country, as well as the internal disagreements over what the party should stand for and how it should confront Donald Trump.
My reporting this cycle has taken me deep into some of the country's most consequential races, from the surprisingly competitive Senate contest in Kansas to the Democratic campaigns in Texas, Iowa, and other battleground states that could determine control of Congress. I've been talking with candidates, strategists, and party insiders about Democrats' electoral prospects, their fundraising advantages and challenges, preparations for potential election interference, and the increasingly bitter fight between progressives and moderates over who gets credit if the party wins in November.
And while Democrats are focused on winning the midterms, many are already looking ahead to 2028, when the lessons they draw from this election could shape the next presidential race.
Some of my recent work:
Dems Are Already Fighting Over Who Gets Credit for November
Dems' One Big Midterm Weakness Isn't Looking So Bad Anymore
Republicans Are Panicking Over the Kansas Senate Race
Inside Dems' Plans to Beat Back Trump's Attacks on the Midterms
I'm here to answer your questions about the midterms, the races that could determine control of Congress, the ideological battles within the Democratic Party, what I'm hearing from candidates and strategists, and what comes next for Democrats after November 3.
Ask me anything!
I'll be answering questions beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, October 26, so feel free to leave yours below in advance.
