[Review] My $2,400 Jawa purchase turned into a religious-pressure dispute
I bought two DDR5 RAM kits through Jawa for roughly $2,400. Both arrived wrapped in what appeared to be ordinary bubble wrap, without visible anti-static protection.
I contacted the seller about ESD-safe packaging. I wasn't claiming the RAM was damaged or asking for a refund. I wanted an explanation and to know whether he'd reconsider his shipping practices.
Instead, after I left a negative review, the seller contacted me asking that I remove it. He repeatedly brought up his children, his family's livelihood, and religious blessings. He eventually said, "You do what you feel is right."
I never introduced religion into this transaction. I bought computer parts and raised a legitimate concern. I don't think invoking religion and family to make someone feel guilty about an honest review is appropriate.
I reported this to Jawa, explaining that the religious pressure made me uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Jawa reviewed the messages and defended the seller's conduct. Their reasoning was essentially that he hadn't threatened me, offered compensation, or made any explicit demands.
Apparently, ending a guilt trip with "It's your choice" makes everything preceding it acceptable.
Jawa also confirmed that ESD-safe packaging is recommended but not required, even for bare RAM. They never verified whether this seller's packaging was ESD-safe. Buyers also can't attach photographs or external evidence links to reviews.
To be fair, support eventually answered my questions, and my review remains published.
But here's what bothers me most: I told Jawa that the religious appeals made me uncomfortable, and they defended the seller rather than taking my concern seriously.
I respect everyone's religious beliefs. I expect the same consideration for mine. A technology marketplace should welcome people of every faith and no faith without making them navigate religious appeals during commercial disputes.
I no longer feel welcome on Jawa, and I've lost confidence in how they handle customer concerns.
TL;DR: Bought $2,400 in RAM, questioned the packaging, and left a negative review. Seller invoked religion and family while asking me to remove it. I complained that this made me uncomfortable. Jawa reviewed the messages and defended his conduct. ESD-safe packaging isn't required either. I'm sharing this because buyers deserve to know what standards Jawa actually enforces.
