This is what i have been working on. Now there is a score, tutorial, ex shoot, and all Cuphead Mechanics. I used AI for the complex Cuphead movement, to make it more similar to the original Cuphead movement. On a real PSP-3001, it runs at smoothly 60fps, with some little stuttering, but i will fix that.

✨ The idea

• Calm and simple. True black background, three tones of grey, and no borders, glows or clutter.
• Focus is a step in lightness. The game you're on is lit, and its neighbours dim.
• One accent colour. Blue by default. Pick another: teal, green, amber, coral or pink.
• Your wallpaper. Black by default, with built-in backgrounds or your own photo (always dimmed so text stays readable).

Github Release

1. Download the zip for your firmware: -ark4 for ARK-4, -ark5 for ARK-5.
2. Unzip it onto the root of your Memory Stick. You get PSP/GAME/NovaOS/EBOOT.PBP.
3. Start NovaOS from the Game menu.

Want NovaOS to start instead of the XMB every time you boot? The README has the step-by-step guide, including how to back up ARK's own menu first.

Getting back to the XMB is always one step away:

• Exit to XMB in the Control Center
• Hold SELECT while the PSP starts to skip NovaOS

🔒 Safety and honesty

• NovaOS only writes to your Memory Stick, never to flash0 or flash1.
• It's free to use and share unmodified.
• It's closed source for now. I'd rather be upfront about that.
• The ARK-5 build doesn't load on ARK-4, so pick the zip that matches your firmware.

❓ Quick FAQ

Does it work on my PSP model? I've tested it on a PSP-3004 on ARK-4. Other models are untested, so please tell me how it goes.

Can I go back to the XMB? Yes, any time. See the steps above.

Will it break my games? NovaOS doesn't modify your games. It reads your library and launches them.

Where do I report bugs? Here in the comments, or in the issues tab of the releases repo.

I ported Sonic R to the PSP, built on jnmartin84's Sonic R decompilation.

• 60 fps (the game logic stays at 30 Hz like on PC; the PSP draws an extra interpolated frame)
• Widescreen in single-player races, or 4:3
• Longer draw distance than the PC version
• CD music in ATRAC3, fast loading
• Made to fit the PSP-1000's 32 MB too (checked by simulating its memory; if you have a 1000, please tell me how it runs!)
• Also runs on PPSSPP

You need your own copy of the Sonic R PC CD (1998): the repo has scripts that turn it into the folder the PSP reads. The release only has the EBOOT, no game data. Needs a PSP with CFW.

Got my new psp this weekend and I can’t put it down

Recently just bought a PSP, any recommendations for good horror/ FF games ? I’ve heard about Silent Hill Origins and FFIV but idk any other good ones.

I got this Japanese psp GO off whatnot for $115, I finally get the battery 1 month later and there's no battery connector pins...

I don't know how to solder but it can't be too hard right??

Trying out the career mode mod on my original 1000 model.

I recently got a PSP because I wanted to experience the God of War games on their native handheld hardware, and honestly I love the concept of the console itself. There’s something really cool about it as a multifaceted retro media player.

So far i’ve enjoyed:
- God of War: Chains of Olympus
- God of War: Ghost of Sparta
- Burnout Legends
- WipEout Pure
- Tekken: Dark Resurrection
- Daxter

The problem is that outside of these games, I’m finding the PSP library a little underwhelming so far. Maybe i’m just looking in the wrong places or haven’t given the right games a chance yet.

What are your must play PSP games? I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Been a while since I had a psp. A friend found this in the trash and tossed it to me. Did some testing, used joysens to correct the stick drift, the housing is a little rough, but Frankenstein” is working well! I may keep it exactly the same as a show of resilience and a cool story. Modded and ready to go! Any suggestions for any games? Should I swap the shell? Simple to do? Glad to be rocking a 1000 regardless

I played Ghost of Sparta before Chains of Olympus because I didn't know it was the sequel, so maybe that biased my opinion, but I found Chains of Olympus pretty boring.

What I like most about Ghost of Sparta is the Spartan sword and shield, really nice.

Two PSP 2000. But the umd Reader is different. Why? And can they be interchangeable?

I was disassembling my psp 3000 to do a case swap watching a tutorial but my psp seems to be a little different to the PSP's tutorial. Why is that?

It all started 3 days ago when playing Gran Turismo and setting up a drift session when my PSP completely froze for 10 seconds and then turned itself off. When I switched it on again, it did the boot up sequence (wtf why) and I started searching what the problem was and through this community I found out it had to do something with the ram. Now, the post that talked about that said to use the recovery menu (which after searching why it didn’t work for me, was because you need custom firmware, which I didn’t have) and after trying to turn it on 10 times, I gave up but then I noticed those red lines, and I kid you not, my soul left my body. Now those lines have grown longer and after searching if it was a glitch in the system, I got info that I fucked up my screen doing that recovery menu button sequence by damaging ribbon cables (as google overview said). Any suggestions how to stop it from growing?😭
