Fix my broken code please.

Made this to help with parts warping. It is supposed to stage a cooldown instead of just turning everything off. I put it in the "Filament end G-code" section for the Filament profile that I use for ASA-CF Black profile.

It won't post messages to Orcaslicers Console and indeed it won't even start when the print is done!

; --- Standard End G-code prints finish here ---

M117 Starting slow cooldown...

RESPOND MSG="Starting slow cooldown..."

; Step 1: Drop bed to 90C and hold for 10 minutes

I made a free viewer that opens your STL / 3MF / G-code (and ZIP downloads) and sends them to Creality Print or OrcaSlicer in one click

After Microsoft retired 3D Viewer I wanted a quick way to look at print files before opening the slicer, so I built PrintView3D. It's free and open source.

- Opens STL, 3MF projects (with all objects), G-code, STEP, OBJ, glTF and FreeCAD files

- Opens ZIP downloads from Printables / Thingiverse directly, no unpacking

- G-code: toolpaths coloured by type, layer slider, print time and filament use

- One click (Ctrl+P) opens the file in your slicer. Creality Print, OrcaSlicer, Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura and others are found automatically

- Export STL from a 3MF project

- Thumbnails in Windows File Explorer

- Windows, Linux and a macOS beta; one-click updates on Windows

I print on a K2 Plus, K1C and Ender 3 V3 myself, so it's tested a lot with Creality Print files.

https://github.com/sevagjb/PrintView3D

Feedback is very welcome, especially if your slicer isn't detected.

Help Printer not found, what do i do?

I just installed the last update (the zip has this number as part of it's name 1.7.20x6) and i can't find my printer in the devices tab. It says it's not online, but it is! I checked the wifi connection of both my pc and the printer and restarted both devices. THe only thing I haven't done yet is dis- and reconnect the printer's wifi.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or do you have any idea of how to fix it? I've given up for today, but i want to print something for a Halloween Costume for a friend :(

Help Help - Pressure Advance Test

Hi,
I am currently running the Pressure Advance Test.

However, I don’t see any difference in the print result.

Orca includes M233 in the G-code (which is also sent to the printer), but in the simulation, the PA (Pressure Advance) value shows as 0.0.

Help optimizing tree supports and print time for a mushroom-shaped print? (OrcaSlicer)

I'm still fairly new to 3D printing and could really use some advice on optimizing my settings.

I'm printing a large, mushroom-shaped hamster hide on my Flashforge Creator 5 using OrcaSlicer. It's a three-color print, and I'm trying to balance print quality, strength, filament usage, and print time.

My current estimate is around 17.5 hours, and I'm wondering if there's a way to bring that down without sacrificing too much quality.

Current settings:

  • Printer: Flashforge Creator 5
  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm
  • Filament: Matte PLA (3 colors)
  • Layer height: 0.12 mm
  • Wall loops: 4
  • Infill: 12% Gyroid
  • Supports: Tree Slim
  • Support threshold: 30–35°
  • Top Z distance: 0.24 mm
  • Support interface spacing: 0.45 mm

My biggest issue is the underside of the mushroom cap. The slicer generates a huge amount of tree supports underneath it.

On my previous test print, the supports were excessive and incredibly difficult to remove. I'd like to reduce the amount of support material while still properly supporting the cap and getting a reasonably clean underside.

I'm also aiming for a really smooth exterior finish, especially on the rounded mushroom cap, so I'd prefer to keep the 0.12 mm layer height if possible.

My main questions are:

  1. Are all these supports actually necessary for this shape?
  2. What settings would you recommend for making tree supports easier to remove?
  3. Is there a way to significantly reduce the print time without noticeably affecting the exterior quality?
  4. Would manually painted supports be better for this model?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm still learning, so specific settings or suggestions would be super helpful. Thank you! :)

Flow Rate Calibration not working

Thumbnail

Hi,

Trying to run a flow rate calibration for a 0.2mm nozzle in Orca and realized when looking at the flows, all swatches have the exact same flow on the top layer no matter what the object settings flow ratio are.
In the screen shots I show the 0.05 swatch at 1.05, 1.2 & 0.8, it's always the same flow as all the other swatches. If I flip the view to the underside, you can see the flow variation between all the swatches.
Is this due to the default speeds being too low or too high? Orca auto set the speed at 117mm/s when i set up the calibration.

Help Adjust Linux UI scale?

Hello, I'm using OrcaSlicer in CachyOS, installed via flatpak. Everything runs fine, except that the UI scale is off, everything is way too big. I checked the preferences, but can't find a setting and I also couldn't find a post in this subreddit.

Hence this question, can anyone tell me if there is an option to change the scaling factor? Maybe in some config file that I have not found yet?

Thanks and regards!

Bone Infill: Available for Devs to try it out

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey! for all the devs, coders, enthusiasts who wanna try Bone Infill early, you can now do it via Orca Slicer's official GitHub.

I have two PRs open that are ready to be tested or played with: 16809 (the infill itself), and 16810 (the gradient density editor). Either should explain in greater detail how to install and use them :)

I have printed a few things with it, and it works for me. lemme know if it works for you!

automating the gui? macros? splitting to objects by cli?

can i do either of these?

i want to programmatically load, and then later reload either an stl or a zip of stls - i don't mind which.

but i want to handle multiple part stls, or else zips of multiple stls so if its one stl it needs to be split-to-objects first. then i want to auto orient and auto arrange, and then hand over to using the ui to look and verify stuff and then slice.

the reload functions in the orca ui dont seem to work on stl files after splitting, and doesn't seem to work at all with zips?

i want to add this automation to a python script i made using onshape rest API to export OnShape document to .stl (or can be zip of n .stl files) , now i want to automate the process of getting it into orca and handling basic import ops, i.e. splitting to objects and auto orient + auto arrange, without needing a cold boot of orca every time... is there a way to connect to a running instance and automate it?

or some other way to programmatically get past the repeated application of 'reload this, split it, auto orient, auto arrange, oops one more tweak to the onshape model, export it, reload it, split it...' ad infinitum? some kind of macro language?

or how hard is it to make a plugin if none of the above?

thanks!

Help 2.5.0 Alpha Plugin Error

I installed the Alpha tonight and whenever I try and activate a plugin it just says error. The error message says its a python issue, but that seems generic as thats what they are. Has anyone else had any issues?

I made an OpenSCAD tab for OrcaSlicer

Got tired of the render -> export -> import dance for Gridfinity bins, so I built it into OrcaSlicer instead - a tab next to Prepare/Preview/Device.

It's a plugin, not a fork, so OrcaSlicer stays stock. Library of parametric parts with sliders, plus an OpenSCAD editor if you want to write your own. Export STL/3MF or send it straight to the plate.

Install: Plugins > Install local plugin > orcad.py (orcad_any.py on Windows/macOS), then restart. Rest is in the README.

https://github.com/yazdannl/orcad-plugin

It's new, so bug reports are welcome - especially if the tab misbehaves on your setup.

Help Preview Tab freezing in Linux 2.4.2

Hi,

I am having an issue with 2.4.2 where the software freezes with no error when going into the preview step. I tried both the flathub version and direct download from the site with no differences. Does anyone have any clue what might be happening? I did not make any changes that I know of; it just started doing this one day.

I'm using Bluefin (Fedora) linux.

Support questions

Thumbnail

So I have a creality K2 and I have not been liking the support generation from their native program. The parts all look like shit where the supports contact the finished part. Never had the issue with Cura on my old printers. So no I am trying Orca. However I can not find any settings to change the first layer generation for supports.

As of right now the first pic is orca support generation. It is not generating skirts, brims, or anything as I change settings. Every print is failing no matter how much glue I put on the bed because the tiny lines are not sticking.

The second pic is the creality software with a full layer at the start of the supports.

Am I missing some settings for base layer of the supports that would act like the creality software?

Help Issue with solid infill

When printing internal layers, small patches of solid infill are being generated between the top infill and the bridge. I tried disabling the "Ensure Vertical Shell Thickness" setting, but it made no difference. I also tried adjusting the "Infill Anchor Max" and "Infill Anchor" parameters, but that didn't help either.

How can I ensure that bridges connect directly to the top infill, without any intermediate layers or patches?

Question Orca Slicer + K2 Pro

Hi everyone,

using Orca Slicer + K2 Pro(both updated to the newest version),

i can set "active temperature control" on, but it will wait until the set target-temp., independent of what i set in the minimal value?

And activate air filtraition won't do anything at all? It won't start during the print or at the end?

Is there a trick to get it to work?

At the moment i use g-code-commands in the advanced-section as a workaround.

best regards

Daniel

Help Is there a way to create a hole into a model interior?

I'm making a dummy head for cosplay stuff and I want to put a hole in it to fill the base with sand so that I can weigh it down.

If I just leave a hole, Orca says it's non manifold and either seals it or refuses to generate any layers there. I can't figure out any modifiers to create a hole that isn't sealed, and I don't want to model a hollow space inside because it won't have any support, I want to keep the infill there.
