Took a stroll down Ferry St down from city hall. I ate a sandwich at Teixeira’s Bakery for breakfast and a coffee. Sandwich was ok and coffee as well. Later on I went to Pao de Terra and tried these like pastries and had a coffee. Which I really enjoyed. Anyways any other recommendations for when I’m in the area next time. I can say that Ferry St was quite empty from what I remember. I did hear ICE has been out here a lot.

I drove up Market Street 1 hour ago and noticed all the window signage for Hapive Coffee Lab gone. I drove around and came close by on the Washington Street side and I see no interior decoration whatsoever nothing . The tables are there the chairs are there there's a counter with a man back there doing something and will look like a coffee machine or something against the wall , but nothing else .
Then again, it is Sunday . Perhaps it is very plain simple looking place with very minimal signage and decor .
***Update**
ITS OPEN. PEOPLE INSIDE ENJOYING THEIR TIME & BREW.😊😉

This is from Google AI overview. Take w grain of salt.
The "Tona Tower" (formally known as "The Ocular" at 289 Central Avenue) is indeed completely stalled. The project on the corner of Central Avenue and Norfolk Street, a joint venture between Tona Construction and KS Group, has effectively been abandoned for months after initial site preparation and pile-driving work abruptly ground to a halt. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The "death" of this particular tower is directly tied to the developer's broader financial meltdown. Tona Construction & Management is currently entangled in a major federal Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in New Jersey. Their financial distress has triggered toxic, high-stakes litigation and foreclosure battles with their lenders over multiple properties—most notably their nearby flagship development, Hoyt Tower at 50 Sussex Avenue. [1, 2]
Because Tona's resources are completely tied up in court battles and restructuring, the site at Norfolk and Central remains a dormant lot with idle heavy equipment. It joins a frustrating wave of recent Newark real estate developments that have frozen mid-construction. [1, 2, 3, 4]
If you're following local real estate developments, I can fill you Hux on how this impacts other active projects nearby or share updates on the court-appointed management shifts affecting Tona's completed properties. Would you like to dive into those details?

Posting this in the very unlikely case someone sees this that is able to help. A week ago my watch fell off my wrist walking between baggage claim and the ride share pickup at EWR.
It is a small gold watch (brand: Juvenia) I saved up for and bought myself after years of working to celebrate several subsequent promotions, and was a big investment piece so I’m very devastated.
I’d be willing to pay anyone who found it or knows someone who found it / may have a lead to EWR lost and found (no word).
Yes, I’ve been meaning to get insurance but procrastinated and am paying the price :(

For NTW I worked on this project and I'd love help to make it a real dashboard people can see and use. It's missing a few connectors like the Meta API, etc to pull events automatically for the next 180 days in the area.
Anyone want to help?

Does nobody find it annoying that Newark, a major urban population center with varying levels of income, doesn't have stores like Aldi and is littered with expensive gas stations, but as you drive into the wealthier income townships, you find aldi and lidl left and right and gas for 4.09 a gallon. Like wtf

I eagerly read the article about Trader Joe’s new store openings for 2026, hoping Newark would be on the list, but I was disappointed to see that it wasn’t.

Hey everyone!
I'm new to the area and looking to see if there are any gay social groups or events in and around Newark where I could meet and connect to make a few friends.
Please LMK if you know of any local meetups, hangouts, or social circles worth checking out; I'd love to hear about them.
Thanks!

I got a new job opportunity here. What are some things I should know about the city while I’m debating on taking the job in Newark for context. I’m from the south originally have been living in the DMV for probably about a year. i’m still debating on if this city in particular would be a good move for me.

Broke a Jersey City (aka East Newark) luxury lease and helping find someone for my former apartment at 225 Grand Street. Available immediately.
It’s a ~760 sq ft 1BR in downtown Jersey City with great natural light, hardwood floors, a modern kitchen, in-unit washer/dryer, and an east-facing view of the NYC skyline.
A few things I really liked about living here:
- Location: About a 7-minute walk to Grove Street PATH. Tons of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and shops within walking distance.
- Amenities: Building gym, outdoor pool, resident lounge, and other common spaces. In unit washer/dryer
- Management: Genuinely responsive and helpful. One of the better management experiences I’ve had.
- Community: Friendly neighbors, nice atmosphere, and a great place to live.
- Apartment: Spacious layout, big windows, great views, and plenty of natural light.
Price: About $3,460/month effective for 12 months. Final amount depends on move in date and lease duration. This amount is if you move within next couple weeks and do 12 months.
This would be a new lease through building management, not an informal sublet. Though if you prefer it to go through August 2027 we can also discuss a formal lease takeover.
I’ve attached photos of the actual unit and building.
Feel free to DM me if interested in apt number or if you’d like more information!
