The "Is Nest Compatible With My System?" Megathread Part III
Please contain all questions related to compatibility here.
Any discussion not directly related to compatibility will be removed, please do not treat this as a general discussion thread.
Nest x Yale issue
I just bought a house that has 3 of these. They were all working fine and then today one is dead. So I replace the batteries and use this opportunity to try and link it to my nest account. I do the reset and when I do instead of voice it gives me beep tones. Now there’s no voice snd the outside keypad doesn’t react. Any ideas what happened?
Camera Nestcam 2nd Gen outdoor extension power cable
The one that came with it is too short by about 10 feet.
Can anyone recommend a longer extension cable?

Help with gwx3t doorbell camera
Trying to help a friend get this going again or tell her it's junk and she should get a new one.
ADT installed this so I do not know much history on it. From what I could see yesterday, it is connected to her doorbell wiring . Put a vom on the leads and getting nothing so that is part of it. But then I read this thing may have a battery so not sure at this point because we don't have any instructions..
Are these things any good or should she just get a new one.
Thanks.

Why does nest 4th gen keep doing this no power and heat starts coming out right away but I can’t finish set up . Also it illuminates blue then when I put the cover back on it turns off
Camera must be connected to network to connect to network?

I am attempting to reconnect a Nest camera on a new network. I have factory reset the camera and deleted it from my Home. I do not have the QR code anymore. When I add device it gives a list of companies, none of which are Google of course, but if I search for nest, I see "Nest Cam". I chose that and enter the 6 character code. It takes a very long time and finally gives up saying that it has to be connected to the network.
How can I have it already connected to the network when that is what I am trying to do?

Nest 3rd Gen Baxi Neodens Iplus. Issue with OpenTerm
A few months ago, I had to replace my gas boiler with a Baxi Neodens iPlus.
Since I knew that it supports OpenTherm, I tried to keep using my existing thermostat, a 3rd-generation Nest Learning Thermostat, which is also supposed to support OpenTherm.
I’ve tried connecting them, but at first glance, it seems that the Nest isn’t communicating with the boiler.
I assume I must be doing something wrong.
Has anyone tried a similar setup and found a solution?
Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Left home and forgot to turn off my Nest Hub alarm. Will it turn off automatically?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently away from home and just realized I left an alarm set on my Google Nest Hub.
Because I’m on a different network, I can’t disable it remotely through the Google Home app right now. I’m really anxious that it might keep ringing and disturb my neighbors.
Does the Nest Hub automatically stop ringing after a certain time (like 10 to 30 minutes)? Or will it keep ringing endlessly until someone turns it off?
Any confirmation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nest 4th gen constant heat with Navien NCB-H boiler
Need some help here. I just recently had an older Navien combo boiler replaced with a new NCB-H boiler. The Nest 4th gen was working fine with the old boiler, but with this new boiler the Nest is constantly calling for heat. The installer thinks it’s a bad thermostat.
I have a Nest E for my basement zone and that works fine. We even swapped the t-stats and the issue followed the 4th gen. As soon as you remove the t-stat from the base plate it stops calling for heat, but then starts again once reconnected. An older 1st gen Nest works ok but can’t be programmed due to lack of app support.
I do have a C wire. The old boiler used to use a Taco zone controller with Taco valves, but the new setup has a built-in zone controller and the same 2-waited zone valves. What I’m reading is that there is just enough voltage bleed to trick the boiler into thinking a call for heat is heating made, and the solution is either an isolation relay, the neat power connector, or a resistor.
I’m savvy with low voltage electronics. I’m wondering if I should just wire a 24v transformer and relay (have to figure out where to get these as there are few stores around that carry electronic components), or order the nest power connector (not sure if it still requires a transformer) or try the resistor. I could use some help understanding how to wire the transformer and the relay as I don’t want to trust AI and potentially blow up my $17,000 boiler. Thanks in advance.

Where to connect (blue) C Wire?
Our thermostat keeps dying without a C wire connection. The blue wire is unused in the Nest and wondering if I can simply connect it anywhere within this. Thank you!

My nest cam captured an Orb Weaver building her web haha

Thermostat Unable to deactivate hold
I have a 3rd gen nest thermostat which appears to get stuck on 'holding temperature' when I use the Google Home app. This is not a feature I have seen before. There appears to be no option to cancel the hold. If I use the actual Nest app or voice control via my nest speakers...then I can change the temperature...but as soon as I open the Google Home app it sets it back to hold.
According to a quick Google, the 3rd gen nest thermostat doesn't even have the hold feature...so I'm pretty confused. I've had the thermostat for years and never come across this before.
Any help much appreciated.

Pls add Gemini
they need to improve the AI they’re implementing—not just throw in any old junk. I know it’s a beta program, but at the very least, they should include something that actually works.
It’s unacceptable that Gemini still hasn’t been rolled out to all regions; it’s really needed for Google Assistant, which sometimes struggles to perform even the simplest tasks. Please fix this for my part, I’m using a Nest Mini device.

Doorbell Nest Doorbell says “extreme temperature” but it’s 60F outside. Why is it offline?
Has anyone else had this happen? How do I get it back online?

Thermostat Baxi Neodens Iplus - OpenTerm . Funciona termostato nest 3a Gen?
Gracias

Thermostat Nest with older oil furnace no c wire - I can’t remember what terminals I had jumped to get my heat running
galleryI have older ducane oil furnace that has a nest thermostat hooked up to it. For the last few years there was a jumper wire I had hooked up to the primary to get it to all run properly. Jumper wire got knocked off and I need to put it back on to get the heat running as I have a cleaning getting done next week on it and it’s cold already in here.
There’s incoming line voltage on the older Honeywell primary in this photo as verified with multimeter so I don’t want to jump out the wrong terminal and fry the primary.
Any idea what terminals I would have had jumped out in the past to get it running? I believe it was to jump the blower motor if I remember correctly and had a jumper from maybe Y to G? But that black wire is incoming line voltage landed on G so just wanted to be sure because I can recall my reasoning for having it wired that way but it was the only way it would fire up. Maybe I was repurposing the G wire? Any help is appreciated
At the thermostat I have it wired currently
Blue to y1
Green to G
Red to Rc
White to w1
And at the primary it’s wired
White to w(T)
Red to r(t)
Blue to Y
Green to G
Yale x Nest: Battery drain
galleryBeen extremely skeptical for a while now, didn’t care enough but now I am just beyond frustrated with this stupid lock. This a just a few months’ worth of batteries. It constantly drains batteries like crazy. Is it bad batteries? Or this lock really goes through batteries like this? These Amazon batteries are just some of what I’ve used, I’ve tried energizer brand before too. Same crap. Does anyone else have these battery drain issues? Absolutely ridiculous.

Nest Protect recycle
They also screwed up the recycling option.
Google offers recycling for old Nest products. I’ve submitted multiple requests and still haven’t received the promised shipping labels.
My online chat today with Google was comical, circular, and a waste of time.
Anyone having success with recycling?

Troubleshooting Nest App Still Down!
I recently upgraded my wifi hardware and lost contact with my Nest Protects. The only way to get them to reconnect is with the Nest app. I wish the Google home app worked.

Nest turning on AC when heat is on
galleryHello.
Last year, I installed a 4th gen Nest, and everything was working fine. This past year, cooling was fine as well. But now when I turn the heat on, it turns the AC on instead with cool air coming from the vents. The outside AC compressor turns on as well.
Here are the things I've tried:
Switching the O/B wires in the Equipment on the Home app.
Turn off and on everything from the breakers.
Reset the Nest thermostat.
Nothing has worked so far. Interestingly, before the reset, it was detecting no power to the OB wire (which isn't even connected), but now it is not detecting power to the W wire either. I removed and reinserted it with no change.
What's also interesting is that the Home app thinks I have an electric heating system when in reality it is a gas furnace. The option to change is it greyed out.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks!
