Hello again!
Earlier this week, I posted about myself becoming a new moderator on this sub after prolonged inactivity by the previous modteam. Over the course of the past few days, I was clearing out the thousands of filtered posts and comments over the past few months.
The subreddit now has 7 rules: they can be found in the sidebar both in Russian and in English. For these rules, there are now also several automod filters, including some which can lead to an auto-ban from the subreddit (this is noted in the rules). There is now also a bot which will auto remove all content from users who will almost certainly flood the sub with political spam and hate.
There are now also mandatory post flairs for different topics and recommended user flairs for how you are related to the city.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please put them under this post or through mod mail (Don't DM me please!). Thank you for your understanding! I hope this sub can become a more pleasant place!

Hi, I have been studying in Moscow for 2 years now and it is a shame to admit that I've eaten nothing other than rostic when I go out and would like to know if you guys have any obscure gem you'd recommend me checking out. I am definitely not picky and would try almost anything.
I'm also struggling to find thrift store location for men as the one I've visited have mainly vintage women's clothing. Flee market suggestions would also been awesome aside from izmailov as it's practically my annual visit.
всем привет! does anyone know any fun/popular halloween events happening in moscow this week?
my husband and i are both geeks and love anything horror-related so we're looking for something fun to do for our first halloween together in russia. we're not really big on partying, but we're open to it!
there's a small anticafe near us hosting a halloween event, and we're thinking of going, but we're not sure how many people will actually show up since it's a paid event. kinda scared it'll just be the two of us.
are there any other halloween events that are usually popular or worth checking out? would love some recommendations!

I’m traveling to Moscow for 5-6 months and I will be taking prescription medicine with me from the states. This medicine is unregistered in Russia, however I heard through Federal Law No. 61-FZ, Article 61.. that you can take prescription medicine with you that isnt registered as long as it’s for personal use. I’m having my doctor write a letter that I’ll translate, but I’m just curious if anyone on here has had experience with something like this. Any advice?

I'd like to learn more about an item in their collection but I can't seem to find an email address or form that works for me (as a non-Russian). Thanks!

Hey everyone!
I’m planning to visit Moscow in December and have heard good things about Izmailovsky Market.
I’m thinking of going on Sunday, December 13. Is Sunday a good day to visit? Will most shops and souvenir stalls be open, especially during winter?
Also, I’m planning to visit Panorama 360 around December 11–12. How crowded does it usually get on weekends? Any suggestions for the best time to visit and avoid long queues?
Would appreciate any tips from locals or people who’ve visited recently. Thanks!

Hello guys, im planning to travel to Moscow&Petersburg this February. Will a thermal underwear, fleece, a thick, knee-length coat and a pair of wind&waterproof pants be enough to get protected from the cold and not get the flu? I'm open to any advice to get protected from the cold.

Hey all,
A few weeks ago I posted here about our first Moscow Expat Events dinner. We set a table for a few people, ended up filling the whole room, and honestly, the response to that post blew us away. Thank you to everyone who commented, asked questions and cheered us on.
Here's the thing though: none of you were actually at that table. That first night came together through Moscow's expat community and friends of friends. So this time, we're opening the doors to Reddit.
**What we're building**
Moscow Expat Events is really two things:
- **The evenings.** A table where foreigners and locals can just have fun and meet each other, without the drama, the awkward silences or the networking butterflies. Great venues, good food, good company.
- **The directory.** A guide to the best places in Moscow for different cuisines, nights out, social events and functions, picked by people who actually go there. You can already browse it at [moscowexpatevents.com/venues](https://www.moscowexpatevents.com/venues).
Between us, we've lived, worked and socialised all over the world, and we're putting all of that into building one of the best communities for expats in Moscow: somewhere that feels safe, fun and stress-free, where you can turn up on your own and leave with new friends.
**This Friday: Salt & Spice**
Our second evening is on **Friday, 30 October**. Shared plates, a few drinks, and, as the name suggests, a little spice.
It's filling up quickly, but we've kept a few seats for people from this sub. Come and say hello, share some drinks and a few laughs, and let's put some faces to these usernames.
**How to join:** add your name to the guest list at [moscowexpatevents.com](https://www.moscowexpatevents.com/events/salt-and-spice-30-october-2026). We ask for a link to a public profile so the evening stays genuine, and we send the time and venue to everyone who's confirmed.
**Can't make Friday?** Help us build the directory. Drop your favourite Moscow spot in the comments: a restaurant, a bar, a hidden gem you'd send a friend to. We read everything, and the best tips will end up in the guide.
Hope to see you at the table.
