What would the Mets legitimately have to do to make the 2027 World Series?
Yes, we know this year was awful. There are pieces but a lot of holes on the roster. Of course, there’s also the question of whether there will be games lost or perhaps, in the worst case, no season at all.
But, let’s put those things aside. If everything went right for the Mets next year, could they win the NL Pennant? If so, what would that look like? Here are a handful of practical things that would have to happen.
A) they only won 74 games last year. Winning 14 more games would likely get them a postseason birth next year. Is there a precedent for this? Look no further than the 2024 Toronto Blue Jays. They won 74 games then 94 in 2025, when the went to WS.
B) Juan Soto had his lowest WAR and games played in his career. Can Soto give them even a 2023 version of himself that produced a 5.3 bWAR and 939 OPs?
C) Can Fransisco Lindor play 135 games at shortstop hit 25 HRs and be a 4.0 bWAR player and at least maintain his defense?
D) Can Bo Bichette give the Mets what he gave the Blue Jays in 2025-3.4 bWAR 800 OPS?
E) Can Benge, Ewing, & McLean maintain their numbers?
F) Can the 2nd half BP return?
G) Can the starting staff: Scott, Thornton, Tong give Mets a boost?
H) Can Stearns add starter & 1B who can also contribute?
As you can see a lot needs to happen.
Let me hear your thoughts…

Soto is a DH
Soto is a DH. Whether the Mets recognize that in 2027 remains to be seen. But he has been among the worst defensive OF pretty much his entire career. And he costs the Mets games out there. A huge liability.

Potential Mets-Tyrone Taylor Reunion Would Fix Overlooked Offseason Weakness
si.comI think bringing back Tyrone Taylor would make a lot of sense for the Mets next season.
With the team needing a right-handed fourth outfielder, Taylor checks a lot of boxes. I broke down why I think a reunion would be a smart move and how he compares to the Mets' internal options.
Curious what everyone thinks.

BREAKING NEWS: 12 WINS CLEMENTE
How much are performance and community service weighted? He was on pace to replicate some of his 2025 production but only hit .225 with a career-low OPS.

On this very merry October 25th, I want to share a story of how I won this beautiful piece in an auction when I was a wee 5 year old lad
In 2014, Mets legend Matt Den Dekker and former Yankees reliever Adam Warren came to my elementary school in the Bronx to help inspire the kids and hold an auction to raise money for the Little League (it was after school hours, just to avoid confusion about why 5 year olds would be at a school auction). On top of a lovely MDD signed jersey I bid on and won, they also had many signed pieces of Yankee and Met commemorative plaques that were part of a raffle, one of which was of the iconic now 40 year old scene. Me, not yet a Mets fan, decided to nag on my Dad to pay the $50 for this, simply because it looked cool. My Dad, who no doubt wanted to bid on the autographed A-Rod or 2009 World Series Johnny Damon photo, if anything at all considering the odds of out name getting picked were slim to none, finally regents and puts our name in for the Mookie and Buckner autograph. When the night is over, they announce the raffle winners, and to my Dad's surprise, were were the only ones to put our names in for the Mookie and Buckner co-auto (which I guess is a plus of living in thr Bronx, that nobody wants shit to do with the Mets).

I think Vogelbach is certainly not getting enough credit as a hitting coach. He is getting an incredible output from this Brewers lineup.

3 Potential Mark Vientos Trade Destinations as Mets' Future Remains Unclear
si.comMark Vientos' future with the Mets looks increasingly uncertain after two disappointing seasons.
I took a look at three teams that could make sense as potential trade destinations.
Curious what everyone thinks. Would you trade Vientos this offseason, and which teams do you think would be interested?

Wow! Trevor Megill Was a Starting Pitcher for the NY Mets
and now the closer for the Brewers according to John Smotlz. And all this time I thought his name was Tylor. (As announced top of 9th inning)

Cohen/Stearns/Mets should take the risk before new CBA & go all in on Skubal/Sato.
Regardless of what you think of Stearns, he’s put the Mets in a better position payroll-wise than other big spenders. Payroll drops a little in ‘27 then considerably in ‘28. Going into lockout with answers in the rotation and 1B would be extremely valuable, given the possibility of a shortened ST.

Greatest Heist Pulled Off by the Brewers
We got David Stearns, Freddy Peralta, and Tobias Myers....(all 3 sucked or sucks for us)
