Made with WhoRuled (whoruled.nitinsijwali.com), a free interactive map where you can scrub through years and click any state for its rulers and sources. Borders: aourednik/historical-basemaps (GPL). Rulers: Wikipedia's state-leader lists, imported with sources. Approximate, and borders before 1700 are especially rough.

Red = states party to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty (Ottawa Treaty). Yellow = Ukraine, still a party but it suspended the ban in July 2025. Green = never joined, or left.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania completed their withdrawals in December 2025, Finland on 10 January 2026 and Poland on 20 February 2026 — the first countries ever to leave the treaty. The US, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Israel and both Koreas never joined.
Sources: UN Treaty Collection (status of the Ottawa Convention); Arms Control Association, "Countries Leave Mine Ban Treaty" (Jan 2026); Yle and Reuters on the Finnish and Polish withdrawal dates.
Map by One Map. Every country's status with its date is on the map page, and you can check what else is banned where you live: https://maps.thatonemap.com/landmines/

Hi! I'm looking for a colorful, vintage style map of the world to hang in my apartment, but I would love for it to have accurate, up to date details (as opposed to just buying a fun vintage map). I am laughably bad at geography and I want to familiarize myself with regions as I look at it, but I still want it to fit in with my vibe. Bonus points for anything relating to the ocean/details of sea creatures in the margins.
Thank you so much in advance!!

Hey guys 🤓
Looking for ideias/methods to collect data on people’s behaviors at city scale to map, GDPR friendly or sensitive, in order to understand how people use or behave in public space.
PS: if you are looking for more context, my cases studies are in Portugal, more urban cities 🏙️

Hello all,
I am really interested in maps and particularly about learning how all present day borders evolved / formed. I want to eventually code and create a website where I can have a time period slider for all of human history to accurately capture shape.
I need help with finding resources. Any recommendations?

There were also many people saying to remove all countries and stuff, so yeah that's not allowed.

La primera fue una casualidad, la segunda es lo que habría sucedido si los países nunca hubieran perdido territorio. Perdon por la calidad

If you wanna traverse the world map for the sake of flags, check out https://www.flaglio.com/world-map
I love to see the color combination patterns of the flags, like how the yellow and green combination is heavily underrepresented in Europe!

I made this map of the outbreak of the Austro-Prussian War in 1866. I based it off the unlabeled one on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austro-Prussian_War#Alliances). If you see any mistakes or have any feedback, please comment!
